Abstract: A structure of a ball return piece and its process of manufacture, and more importantly to the return piece of the internal circulation type ball screw system. The guide groove of the return piece is formed in the shape of a closed circular pipe to provide a precise pipe diameter for guiding the ball in a gliding fashion past the return piece. The return piece is produced by monoblock casting for ensuring enough strength to endure the strong impact stress upon it generated during the circulation of the balls and for preventing damage to the return piece. Moreover, since the guide groove of the return piece is to be formed in the shape of a closed circular pipe, a precise pipe diameter is required and can be achieved by precision lost wax casting. This provides the ball with stable guidance when passing the return piece.
Abstract: A novel hydroxide complex with condensed silicate represented by the formula (I)?Al.sub.2 (Li.sub.(1-x).M.sup.2+.sub.x)(OH).sub.6 !.sub.2 (Si.sub.y O.sub.2y+1.sup.2-).sub.1+x.mH.sub.2 O (I)wherein M.sup.2+ is a divalent metal, m, x and y are numbers respectively in the ranges of 0.ltoreq.m<5, 0.ltoreq.x<1 and 2.ltoreq.y.ltoreq.4, a process for preparing the same, an infrared absorber containing the same as an effective ingredient, and an agricultural film containing said infrared absorber.
Abstract: To effect failure detection and communication between the modules in a modular control system for an electrically driven vehicle in which modules are interconnected by a serial data bus, one line of the serial bus may be biased high or low by modules of the system when a fault is detected. This is detected by a kill system of the modules to which disable safety related functions of each module are applicable. Modules other than the remote control module can include wake up circuitry which supplies power to the modules at start up, or deactivated modules, when the data line is biased high. The modules preferably operate as finite state machines with each module storing in its memory network variables required for the operation of that module. The network variables include the state of other modules, external demand signals, and measured variables of the system.

Abstract: Modular floating structures suitable for supporting offshore oil drilling and production platforms may be fabricated utilizing a Y-shaped joint interconnecting plural legs of a space frame. The space frame may be made up of plural frame members where each corner of the frame includes a Y-shaped joint. Stable offshore floating structures for drilling and production platforms may utilize the integral space frames in a truncated dodecahedral, inverted pyramid or tetrahedral configuration. The Y-shaped joint may be formed of three channel members each having opposed legs which may be secured to the opposed legs of the other channel members in a back-to-back or face-to-face configuration to form the Y-shaped joint. The channel members may be fabricated of flat plate folded and cut along predetermined lines to form the channel members. If the channel members are secured to each other face-to-face, they may form hollow flotation chambers suitable for use with the floating structures.
Abstract: The present invention relates to dielectric ceramic compositions for microwave applications consisting of BaO, PbO, Nd.sub.2 O.sub.3, CeO.sub.2, La.sub.2 O.sub.3 and TiO.sub.2 or consisting of compositions including these elements and having a composition formula (I).x(Ba.sub.1-.alpha. Pb.sub..alpha.)O-y?Nd.sub.2 O.sub.3(1-.beta.-.gamma.) CeO.sub.2(.beta.) La.sub.2 O.sub.3(.gamma.) !-zTiO.sub.2 (I)wherein mol %, 6.ltoreq.x.ltoreq.20, 10.ltoreq.y.ltoreq.20, 60.ltoreq.z.ltoreq.75, x+y+z=100; and 0<.alpha..ltoreq.0.5, 0.ltoreq..beta..ltoreq.0.2, 0.ltoreq..gamma..ltoreq.0.2 and 0<1-.beta.-.gamma.<1. These dielectric ceramic compositions for microwave applications have a dielectric constant above 90 at room temperature, a temperature coefficient at the resonant frequency within +5 ppm/.degree.C.
