  • Patent number: 7023093
Abstract: A structure incorporates very low dielectric constant (k) insulators with copper wiring to achieve high performance interconnects. The wiring is supported by a relatively durable low k dielectric such as SiLk or SiO2 and a very low k and less robust gap fill dielectric is disposed in the remainder of the structure, so that the structure combines a durable layer for strength with a very low k dielectric for interconnect electrical performance.

  • Patent number: 7024228
Abstract: A mobile station embodiment (400) is provided with a reflection detector (401) which may provide supplemental inputs along with keys (402) such that a character encoding, such as, e.g. ASCII, is selected on the basis of the reflection detector (401) alone, or in combination with keys (402) either pushed down or released. A movable target or pendulum (405) may provide an ability to sense the near space along a direction that the reflection detector is sensitive to. Signals may be transmitted from the reflection detector (401) and pass across a void or other great distance before being reflected, if at all. If such signals are reflected toward the reflection detector (401), and the signals have not been overly attenuated, the reflection detector (401) may provide a ‘reflect’ signal to any on-board processor of the mobile station (400).

  • Patent number: 7019845
Abstract: An optical metrology system is provided with a data analysis method to determine the elastic moduli of optically transparent dielectric films such as silicon dioxide, other carbon doped oxides over metal or semiconductor substrates. An index of refraction is measured by an ellipsometer and a wavelength of a laser beam is measured using a laser spectrometer. The angle of refraction is determined by directing a light pulse focused onto a wafer surface, measuring a first set of x1, y1, and z1 coordinates, moving the wafer in the z direction, directing the light pulse onto the wafer surface and measuring a second set of x2, y2 and z2 coordinates, using the coordinates to calculate an angle of incidence, calculating an angle of refraction from the calculated angle of incidence, obtaining a sound velocity v, from the calculated angle of refraction and using the determined sound velocity v, to calculate a bulk modulus.

  • Patent number: 7003055
Abstract: A method and apparatus provide a systolic equalizer for Viterbi equalization of an 8-PSK signal distorted by passage through a communication channel. The systolic equalizer architecture is scalable to process, as examples, four, eight and 16 state received signals. An equalizer in accordance with this invention includes a logical arrangement of a plurality of instantiations of locally coupled processing elements forming a systolic array for processing in common received signal samples having distortion induced by passage through a communication channel. The equalizer outputs soft values for input to a decoder, the soft values representing an approximation of maximum a posteriori (MAP) probabilities. A trellis search procedure is employed to reconstruct estimates of a received signal sequence based on a reduced number of states. The reduced number of states is represented by a plurality of groups determined by partitioning a symbol constellation such that there are fewer groups than possible symbols.
