  • Patent number: 7064827
Abstract: A particle detector has a chamber defining a pathway that a target particle follows between an entry and an exit point, a solid-state energy source such as an LED, and a re-emission sensor. The energy source imparts energy to the particle between the two points, and the sensor includes an arcuate or multi-planar lens to focus energy re-emitted by the particle. The particle is identifiable by its re-emitted energy spectrum. A scanner re-directs the beam from a single energy source to track the particle between the entry and exit points. Alternatively, the energy source is a plurality of source elements that each scan the particle at a single position. Another embodiment is a chipscale detector system wherein energy source elements are disposed on a source layer, sensor elements are disposed on a sensor layer, and one or more target particles to be detected are retained on a capture layer disposed therebetween.

  • Patent number: 7061409
Abstract: Techniques for sample rate conversion are disclosed. In one exemplary embodiment, a sample rate conversion occurs between first samples having a sample rate defined by a first clock signal and second samples having a sample rate defined by a second clock signal. Using a conversion ratio and at a first rate defined by the first clock signal, a given second sample is determined from at least one first sample. A write pointer is updated for a buffer when second samples are written into the buffer. A read pointer is updated for the buffer when second samples are read from the buffer. The second samples are read from the buffer at a second rate defined by the second clock signal. The conversion ratio is modified based on the write and read pointers.

  • Patent number: 7062280
Abstract: System and method for identifying various types of room facilities to find out and take into account space information. A tag of a space (S2) is included in the fluctuation of the intensity of the light emitted by a lamp (LF1) provided in the space in question. The receivers included in the system are arranged e.g. in commercial mobile stations (R1). These are provided with a light detector and with a DSP algorithm that analyses the signal given by said light detector. As a result of the analysis, for instance the mobile station is automatically switched off when entering the space in question. There is neither needed a separate transmitter nor separate energy supply arrangements to send the space tag, and the space tag signal can be detected throughout said space. As regards the mobile station, the space-specific operations can be performed automatically, so that the mobile station user does not need to bother, and his possible negligence does not prevent the precautions from being executed.
