Abstract: An engine block is provided including multiple cylinders having pistons reciprocal therein connected to separate crankshaft sections journalled from the block by connecting rods. The block also journals a countershaft to whose opposite ends the crankshaft sections are drivingly connected through the utilization of power transmitting assemblies each including a clutch assembly and releasable drive connection structure incorporating and indexing mechanism for indexing the corresponding shaft section to the countershaft in the same indexed position each time the corresponding clutch assembly is actuated. The clutch assembly of each power transmitting assembly is interposed, in the path of transmission of power from the corresponding crankshaft section to said countershaft, intermediate the crankshaft section and the corresponding drive connection structure.

Abstract: An upwardly opening aquarium tank is provided including an outwardly convex partial spherical bottom wall. A base is provided including a standard portion of large cross sectional area defining an upwardly opening pressure chamber and the standard portion includes peripheral wall structure from whose upper marginal portion the bottom wall of the tank is supported. Seal structure is provided for forming a fluid tight seal between the tank bottom wall and the standard portion and the bottom wall includes air inlet check valve structure opening therethrough by which pressurized air from the pressure chamber may be admitted into the interior of the lower portion of the tank through the bottom wall thereof. The base includes an air pump for supplying air under pressure to the pressure chamber and a light diffusing filter panel is supported from the valve structure and overlies the bottom wall in spaced relation relative thereto.

Abstract: A substantially conventional evaporative cooler assembly is provided incorporating a water sump having an overflow and with which a float valve equipped pressurized supply of cool ground water is operatively associated for admitting water into the sump to an operating level slightly below the overflow level. A pump assembly is provided for pumping water from the sump to an evaporative pad through which air flowing through the cooler passes and a mechanical refrigeration unit including a compressor, evaporator coil and condenser coil is operatively associated with the cooler assembly.

Abstract: A mooring arm structure is provided including a first elongated arm mounted at one end for angular displacement relative to a dock supported mount about a horizontal axis extending transversely of the first arm and with the second free end of the first arm projecting outwardly beyond one marginal portion of the dock. The second end of the first arm has the upper end of a depending second arm anchored relative thereto and the second arm is constructed of shape retentive resilient material. The lower end of the second arm has a ball hitch socket assembly supported therefrom and an airplace-type shock absorber is connected between the lower end of the second arm and a longitudinal midportion of the first arm.

Abstract: An adjustable square assembly has a framing square with orthogonal limbs, slide fittings for mounting on the respective limbs with an adjustable angle blade therebetween and a tri-square blade and body for adjustable mounting on one of the limbs so that the tri-square blade is in parallel with the other limb of the framing square. One limb of the framing square has a single groove which cooperates with one of the slide carriers as a means whereby the carrier can be adjustably clamped in place through a locking screw on the carrier. The other limb is wider and has a pair of grooves so that the other limb can take the slide carrier in one of the grooves and the framing square body in the other groove. All the parts are reversible so that the slide carriers can be mounted on either limb of the framing square and can operate either along the inner and outer edges of the respective limbs.

Abstract: A quick change towing hitch attaches directly to existing, standard towing ball ports on a towing vehicle without the need for special adaptors. The hitch furnishes a pair of differently sized tow balls which can be quickly indexed into position, as needed, without the use of tools.

Abstract: The discharge ends of hot and cold water pipes are provided with valved outlets discharging into a common single water outlet and a by-pass pipe communicates the hot and cold water pipes upstream from but reasonably closely adjacent the hot and cold water outlets. A water accumulator is communicated with a mid-length portion of the by-pass pipe, a remotely operable flow-control valve is serially connected in the by-pass pipe intermediate the accumulator and the hot water pipe and an adjustable pressure regulator is serially connected in the cold water pipe closely upstream from the by-pass pipe.

Abstract: A spreader bar shoe mounted on the spreader bar of a paper making machine to smooth the sheet or web of paper prior to it being wound onto the takeup reel at the end of the paper machine. The spreader shoe is in the form of an elongated base of plastic material mounted on the spreader bar with segmental inserts forming a wear resistant strip in the outer surface of the base for engagement by the paper sheet with the segmental inserts being secured in a recess by a resilient interface material in the form of silicone to permit limited relative movement between the brittle insert segments and the plastic base due to differences in thermal expansion of the dissimilar materials of the brittle ceramic inserts and the plastic base.

Abstract: A back washer and massager supported on a shower wall or bathtub and includes a pad of foam plastic with a waterproof cover and a rigid backing plate supported by a plurality of suction cups with a terry cloth or similar fabric cover mounted on the pad to enable easy removal for laundering and the like with the cover for the pad including a pocket on the interior surface thereof to receive soap positioned in a net bag so that a person taking a shower or bath can position their back or any other inaccessible area of their body against the surface of the terry cloth or other fabric cover and by moving the body area engaged with the cover provide a washing or massaging function on the surface area of the body.

Abstract: A pipe fitter's tape measuring strip of 25 foot length is marked on one surface thereof with cumulative inch markings along one edge, with information providing take-off charts along the other edge at a leading end of the strip and with cumulative foot and inch markings following the charts along the remainder of the strip length. The opposite surface of the strip is marked with charts providing information of flange sizes related to different pipe sizes.

Abstract: Travel of a printing head between ink-receiving and marking positions is guided along an arcuate path by a fluid power piston device having a cylinder pivotally mounted at its forward end on the frame of the printing apparatus. The longitudinal axis of the ink storing cartridge engaged by the printing head in the ink-receiving positions, is inclined downwardly and is tangent to the travel path at the adjacent terminal end thereof.

Abstract: An elongated vat of heated cooking liquid such as coil is provided and slices of raw potato are admitted into one end of the tank and moved longitudinally of the latter toward the other end of the tank. As the potato slices reach the other end of the tank, they are removed therefrom. The potato slices are conveyed longitudinally of the tank through the utilization of inversely cyclically moved frames suspended above the vat and extending longitudinally thereof with each frame including a plurality of depending fingers spaced both longitudinally and transversely of the tank. Each frame is lowered from a starting position with the fingers thereof spaced above the level of cooking oil in the tank to a position with the fingers extending through the cooking oil level.

Abstract: A body is provided including a first end defining a vertically extending outwardly opening notch therein and at least one door is pivotally mounted from a corresponding side of the body end for swinging between a closed position across the body end and an open position extending outwardly from the body end. A motor driven drum is jouralled within the body on the side of the notch away from the direction in which the notch opens and an endless flexible drive members includes a positive bright passing about the drum. The free swinging end of the door has a roller journalled therefrom and the side of the first end of the body across which the door extends has a guide roller journalled therefrom, the rollers generally paralleling the drum.

Abstract: A switch device for swatting insects or for use as a brush and the like has a tubular handle, a switch in the handle formed from nylon strands which are folded double about a fold line, a cord having one end tied around the fold line to secure the switch and another end secured to the inner end of the handle. The switch can be fully retracted into the handle for storage or it can be pulled from the handle by different amounts to suit its different modes of use. The switch is retained in the handle by friction.

Abstract: A splice sleeve for connecting overlapping reinforcing bars utilized in various types of structures in which steel reinforcing bars are utilized and it is desired to connect the overlapping end portions of the reinforcing bars. The splice sleeve includes a rigid tubular sleeve receiving the overlaped ends of the reinforcing bars with the tubular sleeve being filled with hardable material to resist axial tension exerted on the reinforcing bars. In one embodiment, one end of the sleeve is closed by a rubber grommet having an opening receiving one of the reinforcing bars and the other end of the sleeve may be outwardly flared or trumpeted and provided with a ring welded thereto for receiving an end of one of the reinforcing bars with the sleeve confining the hardenable material and resisting radial outward forces imparted to the hardenable material when axial tension is exerted on the reinforcing bars.

Abstract: A hand held housing encloses a battery powered sound generator from which an audible voice simulating tone is transmitted through a tube when a push button switch is depressed also causing illumination of an indicator lamp. The tube is displaceable relative to the housing between extended and retracted positions. In the extended position, the tube may be inserted into the mouth.

Abstract: A pair of parallel elongated flexible panel portions embracingly receive a pair of flat matchbook bundles therebetween with the bundles arranged with the end ends of the bundles spaced apart and the base ends of the bundles extending in opposite directions, the bundle base ends being secured between corresponding ends of the panels. The head ends of the bundles are spaced apart sufficiently to enable the longitudinal midportions of the panels to be appreciably bowed away from each other and opposite marginal edges of the midportions of the panel members have outwardly opening notches formed therein.

Abstract: An elongated main beam is provided with support wheels at its opposite ends and a parallelogram-type lift arm assembly is pivotally mounted from a first end of the main beam for swinging movement between a lowered substantially horizontal position closely overlying the central portion of the main beam and an inclined position in which a lifting head carried by the upper end of the lift arm assembly may be used to support one side of a vehicle in an elevated position. A slide or follower is mounted on the second end of the main beam and a fluid motor is operatively connected between the main beam and the slide for forcibly shifting the latter along the main beam toward the first end thereof. Force arm structure is pivotally connected between the follower and a midlength portion of the lift arm assembly and is operative to raise the lift arm assembly to a vehicle elevating position responsive to actuation of the fluid motor to force the follower along the main beam toward the first end thereof.
