Abstract: An outdoor toilet constructed of precast concrete having integral color incorporated therein with the external surfaces being simulative of wood or the like and provided with a vault with a vent stack extending upwardly along one wall of the toilet and communicating with the vault and with a vent cap on the roof of the toilet to provide an offset passageway for venting the vault by using the chimney effect of the vent stack and vent cap. The vent stack includes an access opening in the exterior wall thereof provided with a closure to enable pump out of the vault from a point externally of the toilet. The toilet includes a toilet riser, handrail, toilet tissue holder, window and louver vents and an access door associated with an entrance slab and screen panels along two edges of the entrance slab to prevent direct observation into the interior of the toilet when the door is open. The entrance slab is supported by cantilever arms integral with the vault at one end edge thereof.

Abstract: Base structure is provided from which an upstanding post is supported and separate top and bottom horizontal support plates are mounted on the post in vertically spaced relation and for rotation relative thereto. Sleeve structure is also rotatable on the post and disposed between and keys the plates against rotation relative to each other. A plurality of upright tubular fluent material reservoirs are supported from and extend between corresponding peripheral portions of the plates spaced about and outward from the post and the upper and lower ends of the reservoirs open upwardly and downwardly through the upper and lower plates, respectively. Manually actuatable dispensing structure is carried by the lower end of each reservoir and a horizontal closure plate is mounted on the post above the upper plate for rotation relative to and about the post.

Abstract: A hitch connection is provided for use between a towing vehicle and a trailer and includes structure whereby slight right and left lateral movement of the forward end of the towing vehicle will not be translated into left and right lateral movement, respectively, of the forward end of the trailer and thereby eliminates the tendency of a trailer to sway back and forth during crosswind gusts and as a result of the slip stream of a large vehicle such as a tractor and semi-trailer combination passing a lighter vehicle towing a trailer.

Abstract: An adaptor is disclosed for use with an anesthesia mask to allow an endotracheal tube and a fiberoptic laryngoscope to be passed through the mask while a patient is being ventilated under general anesthesia. The adaptor comprises a T-shaped member, one limb of which is connected to conventional anesthesia equipment and the other limb of which has a soft, flexible cover with a central opening through which the endotracheal tube and fiberoptic laryngoscope are passed. The flexibility of the cover allows endotracheal tubes of different diameter to be accommodated in the opening, and when the mask is not being used for intubation, the opening in the cover may be obturated by a plug. The adaptor may also include a further plug having a throughbore for insertion in the free end of the endotracheal tube to seal around the laryngoscope.

Abstract: A sliding jaw pipe wrench has a jaw adjustment mechanism comprising a longitudinally extending series of transverse recesses formed in one surface of an elongate shank on which the movable jaw of the wrench is formed. The shank is received in a retaining pocket in the wrench handle on which the stationary jaw is formed, and the handle includes a transverse locking pin for engagement in, and disengagement from the respective recesses to retain the movable jaw in position when engaged in a recess and allow the shank to be moved to adjust the jaws when disengaged from the recesses. The locking pin is operated by a trigger-like lever pivoted on the handle and connected to the locking pin by an elongate actuating rod. A spring engaging the lever urges the locking pin into engagement with the respective recesses.

Abstract: A tool for positioning and retaining boiler pipe sections in aligned, spaced relation enabling the boiler pipe sections to be joined by heliarc welding incorporating a split block having opposed recesses therein which cooperate to define a passageway that is open at one side for receiving the adjacent ends of boiler pipe sections to retain the boiler pipe sections in alignment together with a spacing arrangement engaged with the opposed ends of the boiler pipe sections to retain the adjacent ends in adjustably spaced adjacent relation to enable heliarc welding of a portion of the adjacent ends of the boiler pipe sections.

Abstract: A window having a fixed sash which can be easily removed and replaced for cleaning the transparent windowpane or for replacement of the windowpane in the event of breakage. The fixed sash of the window is usually associated with the upper portion of a window frame with a movable bottom vent being mounted in the window frame for vertical movement between a lowered closed position and a raised open position with a latch mechanism securing the movable vent in closed position.

Abstract: A flexible panel assembly including front, rear and opposite side marginal portions is provided and the opposite side marginal portions include tubular hems in which stiff strap type mounting bars are received. The opposite side mounting portions overlie front-to-rear extending opposite side support members of a wheelchair and are secured thereto by fasteners secured downwardly through the panel assembly, including the mounting bars, and anchored in the aforementioned support members. The central forward portion of the panel assembly includes an upstanding cushion-type abutment post for reception in the crotch area of a person seated in the wheelchair and upon the panel assembly and the abutment post and panel assembly include exterior surfaces which may be readily cleaned.

Abstract: A method of extraction of metallic sulfides (Matte) from an ore deposit in situ. The contained sulfides are smelted by resistor induced heat creating a matte containing precious metals, including, but not limited to, platinum-group metals and gold and silver (as well as copper, nickel, iron, sulfur, etc). The heavier portion of the bath (matte) settles to the bottom and the slag rises to the top. Further smelting is controlled by positioning of the electrode pairs in the bath, thus regulating heat generation by modulation of the resistance between said electrodes. Placement of the electrodes in cased drill holes strategically placed to intersect and penetrate the ore-bearing horizons results in extraction of the valuable metals as matte. The matte can be recovered either as a liquid, or, after cooling, as a solid.

Abstract: A stationary grid of crossed blade members is provided and force structure is movable toward and away from one side of the grid and operative to engage a farm commodity such as an onion and gradually move the onion toward the grid. Knife structure is supported relative to the grid for repeating movement in a plane generally paralleling and slightly spaced outward of the other side of the grid and across the latter. Drive structure is operatively connected to the knife structure for repeated movement of the latter across the grid at a speed proportional to the speed of movement of the force structure toward the grid. The force structure includes a plate paralleling the grid and spaced outwardly of the aforementioned one side thereof. The plate includes a plurality of blunted pins projecting outward therefrom toward the grid and projectable into the spaces defined between adjacent portions of the crossed blade members of the grid.

Abstract: An article of woman's body armor comprises a carrier garment such as a T-shirt or undervest with front and rear pockets for receiving armor insert panels of soft flexible bullet-resistant material. The front insert panel has slits extending from the side edges thereof with a pair of VELCRO hook and pile tabs on opposite sides of each slit, the tabs of each pair being secured respectively to opposite surfaces of the panel. The edge portions of the panel defining the respective slits can be overlapped and releasably secured by means of the VELCRO hook and pile tabs to form the panel into a bosom-accommodating cup-like shape with the degree of overlap determining the cup size.

Abstract: A basketball return device comprises a portable unit for positioning on a basketball court in a location generally underneath a basket into which shooting practice is to be conducted. The device includes a base with a ball-return mechanism therein and a vertically extending chute projecting upwardly from the base and terminating in a hoop-like top opening for positioning substantially directly beneath the basket. The ball-return mechanism includes a horizontal ball-collection and dispersion tube mounted in the base for swinging movement about a vertical axis so that the tube may be positioned to direct balls through an open end thereof to a required location on the court. The ball-return mechanism includes a solenoid operated plunger carried at the back of the tube for projecting balls therethrough and the device may include various electrical controls for automatically and semi-automatically operating the ball-return mechanism.

Abstract: An attachment for a wheel chair in the form of a storage bag supported vertically between the rearwardly extending handles at the upper end of the wheelchair frame and a pair of bottom tip bars in such a manner that it can be folded with the wheelchair and provide a convenient and readily accessible storage area for various articles.

Abstract: A trolling attachment for motor boats comprises pivotal trolling flaps for securement to the transom of a boat so that the flaps may be lowered into and raised from the water as required. The flap are carried on a rectangular box-section tube with leaf springs disposed against the tube to provide resilient frictional resistance to movement of the flaps and positive location and retention of the flaps in the raised and lowered positions by engagement of the springs against adjacent surfaces of the tube respectively.

Abstract: An elongated streamlined hull is provided having front and rear ends and a first pair of rear opposite side horizontally outwardly projecting main foils are supported from the hull and have their centers of plan area disposed aft of amidships of the hull. A second pair of forward foils of considerably smaller plan area are mounted from opposite side forward portions of the hull spaced considerably forward of amidships for controlled angular displacement relative to the hull about generally horizontal axes extending transversely of the hull. First control structure is provided for simultaneously adjustably angularly displacing the forward foils and the hull includes front and rear buoyancy tanks, a compressed gas storage tank disposed centrally intermediate the buoyancy tanks and second control structure operatively associated with the storage and buoyancy tanks to selectively flood and blow the buoyancy tanks with ambient water and compressed gas from the storage tank.

Abstract: A portable gun rest of lightweight plastic comprises a pair of oppositely directed U-shaped saddle members at opposite ends respectively of an elongate telescopic support assembly. One saddle member is dimensioned to fit over a user's thigh and the other saddle member is dimensioned to receive the forearm of a rifle or shotgun. A locking pin for the telescopic assembly is carried on the end of a cord which also forms a carrying strap for the gun rest. The device can be used to support various types of guns in various firing positions.

Abstract: An electric gaslight simulative for installation in an existing light fixture by merely screw threading the simulative into an existing light bulb socket after a conventional light bulb has been removed therefrom thereby converting the light fixture into a light which produces a glow or illumination quite similar to that produced by an actual gaslight and having external physical appearance characteristics simulative of an actual gaslight.

Abstract: An upstanding support is provided and open at its lower end for snug downward telescoping over an upwardly projecting hitch ball supported from a hitch tongue of a width greater than the diameter of the ball. The lower end of the upstanding support is downwardly abuttable against the upwardly facing surfaces of the hitch tongue spaced immediately outward of an upstanding cylindrical zone containing the outer periphery of the hitch ball and the support includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced clamp screws threadingly supported therefrom with the innermost ends of the clamp screws being clampingly engageable with the reduced diameter shank portion of the hitch ball spaced closely above the hitch tongue. The upper end of the upstanding support mounts a horizontal mounting plate therefrom which may be utilized to support a plurality of different objects such as a grinder, workbench, hoist, cycle carrier, sign, floodlight, pipe rack and the like.
