Abstract: A pair of generally parallel, electrically conductive and ferrous material plates are provided and permanent magnets structure is sandwiched between the plates. An elongated electrically conductive threaded fastener includes a portion thereof projecting outwardly from the side of one of the plates remote from the other plate and may be removably threadedly anchored within an endwise outwardly opening bore formed in a recessed battery post. An electrically conductive member is also provided to which one end of the battery cable may be electrically connected and the contact member includes at least generally one planar side. The contact member is positionable with the planar side thereof abutting, spanning and magnetically attracted to a pair of side marginal edges of the plates which are disposed in the same plane.

Abstract: The efficiency of a spray-type scrubber in removing pollutants from gas flowing through the scrubber is improved by applying high frequency pulsations to the gas flow. The pulsations may be applied by a bladed rotor, the blades of which cut across the gas stream in a gas supply duct leading to the scrubber inlet, the rotor being harmonically tuned with a fan which draws the gas through the scrubber.

Abstract: The bore communicating primer pocket and the interior of the base of a cartridge case is internally threaded and a threaded shaft end is threaded through the bore to a position with the terminal end of the shaft spaced inwardly of the open end of the casing. A bullet is telescoped rearwardly into the open end of the casing an excessive amount into seated engagement with the shaft end and the entire combination comprising the shaft, casing and bullet is forwardly telescoped through the receiver of a rifle subsequent to the removal of the rifle bolt and to a position with the casing fully seated within the receiver of the rifle barrel. Thereafter, the shaft is threaded forwardly relative to the casing in order to gradually displace the bullet from the open end of the casing until such time as the maximum girth area of the bullet engages the rifling in the rear end of the rifle bore.

Abstract: A fence line is provided including a pair of spaced posts between which a fence opening is defined and wherein a cattle guard is substantially centered in the opening and spans considerably less than the width of the opening. A pair of edge upstanding panel-like wing closure members are provided at opposite sides of the opening between the posts and the adjacent sides of the cattle guard and pivot structure pivotally mounts first corresponding upstanding base edge portions of the closure members at the opposite sides of the opening for angular displacement about upstanding axes and with the closure members including second free swinging upstanding edge portions opposite the first edge portions swingable toward and away from closed positions with the second edge portions at least closely adjacent the opposite sides of the cattle guard and an upstanding plane containing the fence line opening.

Abstract: A rectangular mounting plate is provided for mounting on the outer surface of a vehicle bumper in slightly spaced relation relative thereto and in the usual license plate mounting location. The mounting plate includes structure for supporting a license plate therefrom in position overlying the outerface of the mounting plate and a support plate is provided including structure defining opposing channels extending along opposite marginal portions thereof in which the corresponding marginal portions of the mounting plate are slidingly receivable, whereby the support plate may be slidingly engaged over the mounting plate. Further, the support and mounting plates include structure for releasably retaining the support plate in positions supported from the mounting plate in substantially full registry therewith and the support plate includes outstanding hitch structure to which the hitch construction on the forward end of the trailer tongue may be removably universally coupled.

Abstract: An elongated lever member is provided defining first and second ends and the lever member comprises a flat stock member with the first and second ends each being of a greater width than the intermediate length portion of the flat stock member extending between and connecting the ends. One of the ends includes opposite side portions projecting outwardly beyond the corresponding opposite side portions of the intermediate length portion and those opposite side portions are reversely bent back over one face surface of the corresponding end of the flat stock member in closely laterally spaced relation thereto and with the free ends of the reversely bent side portions secured together to form an open ended sleeve on the side of the one end of the flat stock member opposed by the reversely bent portions. The sleeve tapers toward the other end of the flat stock member and the flat stock member other end includes an opening therein which may be partially engaged over a bottle cap for removal of the latter.

Abstract: Wedge-shaped shelf attachments are located on a shelf of a display case to provide a support surface against which a row of products, such as frozen food boxes, can be stacked. The attachments are located on the shelf so as to display the products at the front of the shelf thereby providing the appearance of a filled shelf.

Abstract: A generally U-shaped bracket is provided having a pair of generally parallel legs interconnected at one pair of corresponding ends by a bight portion extending between and secured relative to the one pair of ends of the legs. An elongated handle is provided and mounted at one end from the longitudinal mid-portion of the aforementioned bight portion and the other end of the handle projects outwardly from the side of the bight portion opposite the side thereof from which the legs project. A one-piece elongated roller extends between and is journalled from the outer ends of the legs and the roller includes a cylindrical outer surface having at least two circumferential grooves formed therein spaced apart longitudinally of the roller and from the opposite ends of the outer cylindrical surface of the roller. The grooves include inwardly convergent opposite side surfaces defining an included angle of approximately 30.degree. and cylindrical bottom surfaces.

Abstract: The input, driven and counter shafts journaled in a gear transfer case are drivingly interconnected by constant mesh gearing and under control of a clutch mounted on each of the split power shafts. Fluid power controls effect selective engagement and disengagement of the clutches to transmit torque at high and low drive ratios for either two wheel or four wheel drive of a vehicle.

Abstract: A connecting link utilized in a pendant line for connecting lengths or segments of wire ropes used in anchoring offshore drilling barges and the like to facilitate the handling of the pendant line when it is being placed into service, removed from service and during storage by positively and securely but yet detachably connecting adjacent ends of adjacent segments in order to enable a pendant line of desired overall length to be utilized but yet easily handled when the pendant line is being assembled and placed into service or disassembled and stored on a reel when being removed from service.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for converting a gasoline motor powered line trimmer into an outboard trolling motor. The method includes the removal of the trimmer line spool head from the lower end of the trimmer and the replacement of the head with a marine propeller, the removal of the usual handle from the upper end portion of the housing of the trimmer and the replacement of that handle with a conventional trolling motor transom mount and the addition of a clamp mounting steering arm to the upper end portion of the housing of the trimmer and the relocation of the throttle control assembly of the trimmer from the upper end portion of the trimmer housing to the free end of the steering arm.

Abstract: A base portion is provided for support from the forward end of a vehicle to be towed or the rear end of a vehicle to be used to tow a second vehicle. An elongated hitch bar assembly is provided including first and second ends and mounting structure mounts the second hitch bar end, intermediate its opposite ends, from the base portion for guided front to rear lengthwise extension and retraction relative to the base portion between forward and rearward limit positions and for angular displacement of the rear hitch bar end about an upstanding axis, shiftable forward and rearward with the second hitch bar end, relative to the base portion between opposite limit positions of angular displacement. Bias structure yieldingly biases the second hitch bar end toward a central position between the front and rear limit positions and first latch structure is operative to releasably latch the hitch bar rear end relative to the base portion in a center position of angular displacement.

Abstract: An elongated buoyant body is provided having opposite longitudinal sides and fore and aft ends. The body includes a rear vertically extending and rearwardly opening recess formed therein spaced inwardly of the rear ends of said sides and of a width to receive a prone snorkler therein. A central elongated handgrip bar is supported from the body in the forward portion of the recess and is adjustable longitudinally of the body. The rear end of the body supports a forwardly opening U-shaped structure therefrom which projects rearwardly of the body and includes a rear crosspiece from which an outboard trolling motor may be mounted.

Abstract: A fire escape device having a housing and cable drum rotatable therein with a cable connected thereto and extending from the housing for connection with a supporting structure with the housing being connected to a person descending from an upper floor of a building or the like during an emergency situation such as a fire with an automatic brake mechanism controlling the rate of descent of such a person by applying a braking force to a rotatable component geared to the cable drum for controlling unreeling movement of the cable.

Abstract: A supporting bracket for an electromagnetic clutch and a hydraulic pump driven through the clutch from a drive shaft, belt pulley or other power input by which the various forces exerted on the pump shaft by the clutch and power input are supported by the bracket thereby eliminating excessive wear on the supporting bearing structure for the pump shaft thereby prolonging the useful life of the hydraulic pump and maintaining the clutch components in properly oriented relation for proper and long lasting operation thereof.

Abstract: An elongated shank is provided having a first handle end and a second hook end including a rigid, reversely turned and inclined hook defining terminal end projecting outward to one side of the shank and toward the first end thereof. The handle includes mounting structure thereon intermediate the handle and hook defining a guide passage closely spaced outward of and paralleling the aforementioned one side of the shank and through which an elongated pull member is lengthwise reciprocated. A first end of the pull member corresponding to the first handle end includes a finger-engageable portion for manually engaging the pull member and lengthwise displacing the latter in a first direction away from the hook and the second end of the pull member includes a laterally outwardly inclined end member thereon projecting outwardly from the side of the pull member remote from the shank and oppositely inclined relative to and toward the hook.

Abstract: A balance board structure for recreation or exercising use comprises a roller-supported foot platform having the roller positively retained in a frame under the platform by a retention pin extending through the roller into guide channels formed in opposed longitudinal side members of the frame. In use, the roller is manipulated along the frame by a person standing on the foot platform and the pin prevents separation of the components, for example during transport, or when the user falls off of the foot platform.

Abstract: A direction of movement sensing apparatus is shiftably supported from the wheel track filling structure of a wheeled support tower for an irrigation pipe and is operative to shift between a first inoperative position assumed thereby when the tower is moving in a forward direction toward a second operative position relative to the wheel track filling structure when the tower is moved rearwardly over the ground. Connecting structure is provided and operatively connected between the direction sensing apparatus, the wheel track filling structure and the tower for raising the wheel track filling structure responsive to movement of the sensing apparatus to the second operative position thereof and thus enabling the tower to move rearwardly without damage to the wheel track filling structure.

Abstract: A manual snow pusher comprises a resilient rubber blade connected along the base of a hood-like snow diverting member of galvanized metal plate. An elongate handle is pivotally attached to a latch plate at the back of the snow diverting member, allowing the angle of the handle relative to the length of the blade to be adjusted. The handle has a spring loaded pin which can be engaged in any one of a series of holes formed around the arcuate periphery of the latch plate in order to releasably secure the handle in a selected angular position.

Abstract: A mailbox signaling device comprises a pivotal plate on the base of a mailbox which is raised from a prominently exposed position below the box to a substantially invisible position flush with the base of the mailbox when mail is delivered into the box. Accordingly, the plate may give the impression when it is exposed that it is in a signaling position, although the box is actually empty, and when mail is delivered, the plate is invisible and no signal is therefore evident, except to persons familiar with the workings of the device, that mail has been delivered into the box.
