  • Patent number: 4282714
Abstract: In an explosive actuated tool for driving anchoring members, for instance nails and the like, in which the extraction and the ejection of the cartridge case, after the firing phase, are ensured through a mechanism comprising a sleeve, slidably engaged with the barrel and embracing it, a pawl protruding from the sleeve being engaged in a Z shaped groove formed in the internal surface of the breech tube, whereby the sliding motion of the sleeve together with the barrel, during the slipping off motion of the latter with respect to the breech tube of the tool, is stopped when the said pawl stops against the cross portion of the said Z shaped groove, thus having the sleeve axially displaced with respect to the barrel against the counter force of return springs, in this phase half bottom of the firing chamber, as formed by the sleeve being rearwardly displaced with respect to the other half bottom, as formed by the end of the barrel itself.

  • Patent number: 4282799
Abstract: A negative pressure booster wherein a brake master cylinder of an automobile is boosted and operated under negative pressure. The booster comprises a booster shell, a booster piston to divide the interior of the booster shell into a first and second operating chambers, a valve cylinder, a valve piston received in the valve cylinder and a reaction piston. The sliding stroke of the reaction piston is regulated to be smaller than the sliding stroke of the valve piston so that even if the valve piston is largely retracted, the amount of inflation and deformation of the resilient piston may be minimized.

  • Patent number: 4282746
Abstract: An arrangement for indicating the on-going fuel consumption of an operating internal combustion engine in a motor vehicle having a multi-stage transmission. An engine operating parameter indicative of the quantity of fuel being supplied to the engine per engine revolution, is sensed or detected, and a signal representative of the sensed parameter is transmitted to an indicating instrument. The signal is modulated, furthermore, as a function of the currently engaged stage of the transmission. The modulating action may be carried out by a pressure transducer and the signal may be transmitted through a passage connecting the output of the transducer with the indicating instrument. The sensing procedure may be carried out through another passage connecting an input of the transducer with the intake manifold of the engine downstream of the throttle valve.

  • Patent number: 4281586
Abstract: A pneumatically actuated adjusting device, particularly for throttle flap adjustment on mixture-compressing combustion engines, with a diaphragm held between a housing upper portion and a housing lower portion. This diaphragm forms a vacuum-charged working chamber with the housing upper portion. With the housing lower portion it forms a chamber open to ambient atmosphere. A guide bushing projects from the housing upper portion on the atmosphere vented side of the diaphragm and is rigidly connected to it. The diaphragm is also rigidly connected to two concentric spaced diaphragm plate pairs. The outer diaphragm plate pair is connected to a pipe moving inside the guide bushing. This pipe has one or several recesses, with a ball in every recess. Indentations in the guide bushing have diameters corresponding to the ball diameter, with the depth determining the stroke of the first adjustment stage. The inner diaphragm is rigidly connected to a control piston inside the pipe. This control piston has a recess.

  • Patent number: 4281483
Abstract: A method of providing transverse elements to be arranged in a consecutive series side by side on a driving belt with curved surfaces by which they support the driving belt. The surfaces obtain a curvature by replacing the driving belt by an endless grinding band having grinding material on its inner side engaging the said surfaces and running the whole on two pulleys, one of which has a smaller diameter than the other one. The grinding band has longitudinal zones with different abrasing capacities, for example by providing the band with a longitudinal range of gaps in its middle zone. In this way the supporting surfaces obtain simultaneously a curvature in the running direction of the belt and in a direction opposite thereto.

  • Patent number: 4281747
Abstract: An override lock assembly comprises a driven element and a driving element both rotatably arranged on a common fixed shaft.Between the two elements there is arranged a clamping member engaging into both elements. If the two elements rotate with different speeds one of the elements engages with an entraining member into said clamping element and acts upon said clamping element such that it deforms or gets shifted such to frictionally engage into said fixed shaft thus generating a friction force therebetween which decelerates the rotating element.

  • Patent number: 4280740
Abstract: A skid prevention method for reducing braking torque during a wheel lock while braking, using a main control system of an anti-skid brake device regardless of the brake input by the driver. When wheel lock is overcome, reduction of braking torque ceases. When wheel lock lasts more than a preset period without reduction in breaking torque, even when wheel lock results from failure of the main control system, the braking torque is reduced for a preset period through an auxiliary system. If the main control system reduces the braking torque for a period longer than a preset time, braking torque reduction by the main control system may be nullified, and when wheel lock lasts longer than a preset period, the braking torque may be reduced by the auxiliary control system for the preset period. An anti-skid device for carrying out this method has a brake for applying the braking torque to the wheels, a main control system for controlling the brake to reduce braking torque in case of wheel lock.
