  • Patent number: 4290325
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling an oil-pressure-operated transmission for a vehicle, with a transmission having at least two forward speeds driven by oil pressure clutches, a reverse speed using one of these clutches, and a selector for shifting from forward speed to reverse to engage any of the forward and reverse trains. A manual valve is placed in the transmission hydraulic circuit so that when the manual valve is in automatic shift range on the forward running side, the selector is shifted to its forward running side and the oil pressure clutches in the forward driving trains receive pressure oil from an oil pressure source through a shift valve. When the manual valve is in its reverse position, the selector is shifted to its reverse side and oil is ported to the oil pressure clutch used jointly by the forward and reverse driving trains. The manual valve is located in an oil passage between the shift valve and the jointly used oil pressure clutch.

  • Patent number: 4290853
Abstract: In the protection of a portion of steam piping, e.g., live-steam piping, as it exits from the confinement chamber of a nuclear reactor, the portion of steam piping exits from the chamber in the direction of a mean radial plane of the passage through the chamber wall and is then bent substantially through 90.degree.. Upstream of the bend the piping includes a stopcock and between the stopcock and the bend the piping is held by guide elements between two sliding surfaces of guide means parallel to and symmetrical relative to the said radial plane, the guide means being supported on the confinement chamber wall, and by connecting rods symmetrical relative to the said radial plane and connected to the piping and the chamber wall.

  • Patent number: 4288975
Abstract: According to this invention, a spinning rotor is increased in speed until it reaches a predetermined higher speed beyond a lower speed region and then decreased in speed until it falls within the lower speed region, in which a yarn ending is effected. Thereafter, the speed of the spinning rotor is increased to a normal spinning speed beyond the predetermined higher speed. During rotation of the spinning rotor at the predetermined higher speed, sufficient subatmospheric pressure is produced in the spinning rotor to stretch out the yarn end thereby to prevent the yarn end from being snarled. Also, during this higher speed rotation of the spinning rotor, sufficient fibers in the spinning rotor can be collected in a maximum diameter portion in the spinning rotor to be connected with the snarl-free yarn end in a favorable condition.

  • Patent number: 4289227
Abstract: A belt conveyor transportation system includes a plurality of belt conveyor units each having an endless belt whose main constituent element consists of a magnetic material so as to be magnetically attractive with magnets, and the conveyor units are continuously arranged lengthwise along a desired transportation network layout to form a conveyor line. The conveyor units of the conveyor line drive their magnetic belts separately or in groups each including a number of the units at an independent speed. A moving body or bodies are arranged to move along the conveyor line, and the moving member includes a magnet system. By virtue of the magnetic attraction between the conveyor units and the magnet system, the moving member travels along the conveyor line while being hauled by the magnetic belts of the conveyor units at their respective speeds.
