Abstract: Web based e-mail classification is disclosed. A toolbar adds the ability to classify message such as web e-mail, calendar items and meeting appointments based on specific properties such as security classification, information type, document type, document retention, document caveats, and the like associated with the message. The toolbar through dropdown selections allows users to select the appropriate classification and properties based upon the content of the message. Administrators can predefine all the classification selections that are available to the user. E-mail classification properties are generated that are associated with the message by metadata insertion and by inserting visual markings that allow users to quickly identify the security, sensitivity, intended distribution or retention of the e-mail or calendar item.

Abstract: An improved design for maintaining separation between electrodes in tunneling, diode, thermionic, thermophotovoltaic and other devices is disclosed. At least one electrode is made from flexible material. A magnetic field is present to combine with the current flowing in the flexible electrode and generate a force that counterbalances the electrostatic force or other attracting forces between the electrodes. The balancing of forces allows separation and parallelism between the electrodes to be maintained at a very small spacing without requiring the use of multiple control systems, actuators, or other manipulating means, or spacers. The shape of one or both electrodes is designed to maintain a constant separation over the entire overlapping area of the electrodes.
Abstract: A container formed with a plurality of faces. An energy absorbing material is within the container. A plate is located within the container. An elongated member having a proximate end and a distal end is located with the proximate end of the elongated member proximate to the plate. A first bumper is integral with the distal end of the elongated member. A first engagement mechanism is proximate to the plate, wherein the engagement mechanism has a first position that fixes the plate to the elongated member and a second position that uncouples the plate from the elongated member. A first sensor is located to quantify a collision force on said first bumper. The sensor communicates with the first engagement mechanism whereby the position of the engagement mechanism is dependent on a quantity of the collision force sensed.
Abstract: An electric street light controller apparatus and monitoring method allows automatic street light turn-on and turn-off characteristics to be field programmable using RFID technology, lamp current magnitude recording, auxiliary sensor input, diagnostic alarming and data storage for later retrieval in a remote electric street lighting monitoring system. The apparatus and method includes, from a remotely located exciter apparatus using an antenna to transmit a specific frequency and code key to the antenna of an electric street light control and monitoring apparatus associated with the electric street light allowing remote wireless field programming of turn-on fight levels, turn-off light levels, rate of change of light levels, specific turn-on, turn-off, and turn back on sequences during dark hours, and specific remote wireless sensors or internal sensor inputs useful for radiological, biological, chemical, or environmental sensing and alarming.
Abstract: An output buffer and a controlling method are disclosed. The output buffer comprises an upper buffer and a lower buffer. In the controlling method, at first, a first voltage (V1) and a second voltage (V2) are applied on the upper buffer, and a third voltage (V3) and a fourth voltage (V4) are applied on the lower buffer, wherein V1>V2, V1>V4, V3>V2, and V3>V4. Then, the upper buffer is operated to output data to a plurality of pixels thereby operating the liquid crystals of the pixels over an upper supply range, wherein the upper supply range is from V1 to V2. Thereafter, the lower buffer is operated to output data to the pixels thereby operating the liquid crystals of the pixels over a lower supply range, wherein the lower supply range is from V3 to V4.
Abstract: A portable surveillance system for rapid deployment, comprising a hardware case containing a battery, a processor, a hard disk drive, and a means for communications; at least one surveillance camera; and a tripod. The tripod is used to support both the camera and the hardware case. The hardware case is weatherproof, having intake and exhaust fans and optional electric heating and/or cooling units. The present invention is capable of being transported and positioned quickly by a single operator in a desired location.

Abstract: Discontinuous diamond particulate containing metal matrix composites of high thermal conductivity and methods for producing these composites are provided. The manufacturing method includes producing a thin reaction formed and diffusion bonded functionally graded interactive SiC surface layer on diamond particles. The interactive surface converted SiC coated diamond particles are then disposed into a mold and between the particles and permitted to rapidly solidify under pressure. The surface conversion interactive SiC coating on the diamond particles achieves minimal interface thermal resistance with the metal matrix which translates into good mechanical strength and stiffness of the composites and facilitates near theoretical thermal conductivity levels to be attained in the composite. Secondary working of the diamond metal composite can be performed for producing thin sheet product.

Abstract: An interactive computerized apparatus includes first and second interfaces and a server in communication on a computer network. The server has at least a first database storing data relating to a first user at the first interface and a second database storing data relating to a second user at the second interface, the first user having access to the second database and the second user having access to the first database. A video and audio interaction system is housed on the server and has programmable code for interaction between the first user at first interface and the second user at the second interface. Abstract: A LED circuit comprises: an inductor, a group of LEDs, a capacitor, a power MOS and a switching circuit. The inductor is connected to a voltage supply and a first node; the group of LEDs is connected to the first node and a ground potential; the capacitor is connected to the first node and a ground potential; the power MOS is connected to the first node and a ground potential, wherein the gate of the power MOS receives a switching signal such that the capacitor is charged when the power MOS is turn on to further turn on the LEDs and the capacitor is discharged when the power MOS is turn off to turn off the LEDs. Abstract: The present invention provides an improved frequency doubling circuit, with adjustable phase offset. Briefly, rather than using the traditional equations cos (2?t)=cos 2(?t)?sin 2(?t) and sin(2?t)=2 sin(?t)cos(?t), the quadrature output signals are generated utilizing mixers, each having two input signals, separated in phase by the same offset. This minimizes the effects of the non-linearities introduced by the mixer, which therefore reduces amplitude mismatch between the quadrature signals. Also, the phase offset of the quadrature output signals can be tuned and calibrated using a phase shifting circuit. This phase shifting circuit realizes a tuning range of approximately 5° in programmable steps. This combination of circuits can be used to minimize the amplitude mismatch and phase errors, thereby reducing the amplitude of and interference caused by transmission of the image frequency to the receivers input.
