  • Patent number: 7907690
Abstract: An interference cancellation (IC) system and method for use within a 1553 communication system comprising a data bus carrying primary signals having a 1553 component and a non-1553 component are provided. The IC system has an input port, a 1553 data extraction block and an interference cancellation circuit with an interference measurement and a cancellation block. The interference measurement block receives 1553 decoded data from the 1553 data extraction block and a sampled primary signal via the input port, and, within an impulse response block, produces an interference signal based on a 1553 impulse response system model. The cancellation block subtracts the interference signal from the sampled primary signal and produces an output signal with the 1553 component substantially cancelled. Furthermore, an IC system using adaptive filtering techniques within the impulse response block is provided. The Least Mean Squares (LMS) algorithm can be used as an adaptive filter technique.

  • Patent number: 7902938
Abstract: A data transmitter uses a transmission line including a ground conductor (305), a signal conductor (201), and an insulating material (3) which insulates them from each other. The insulating material includes a dielectric (320) exhibiting a nonlinear relationship between a generated electric field and dielectric polarization. The effective reactance per unit length of the transmission line changes depending on the signal voltage. Data is transmitted between integrated circuits (102) via the transmission line, achieving data transmission at a higher speed than a conventional one.

  • Patent number: 7898265
Abstract: A microwave paint thickness sensor includes a single cylindrical cavity, a microwave source, and a signal detector. The cylindrical cavity is open at one end, the open end having a choke joint for interfacing with a painted surface. The cylindrical cavity is designed so that the electronic field is normal to the painted surface. In a preferred embodiment, this is accomplished by providing an optimally designed TM011 mode cavity. In this configuration, the resonant frequency of the cavity is linearly related to the inverse of the paint thickness. In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, the resonant cavity is optimally sized to resonate at a frequency where the sensor footprint can be minimized. Thus with the use of the choke joint, the small sensor interface area of the present invention may easily be applied to a curved surface.

  • Patent number: 7886629
Abstract: A machine tool comprises a first travelling assembly (10) which carries in its turn a second travelling assembly (22). The first assembly (10) is adapted to position the second assembly (22) in a relatively wide space (S1) and with movements at relatively low speeds and accelerations. The second assembly (22) carries in its turn a tool which is provided with actuators for positioning the tool in a relatively narrow space (S2) and with movements at relatively high speeds and accelerations. The machine includes means for controlling the movements of the two assemblies (10, 22) which are so arranged to obtain s global movement of the tool without solutions of continuity in all the space of movement (S1) of the first assembly (10). The invention also relates to a manipulator device which can be used independently or be installed as a second assembly (22) on a travelling structure of a machine tool.

  • Patent number: 7876294
Abstract: An image display apparatus comprises a pixel having a drive transistor and a pixel display element which are connected in series between a first power line and a second power line, a holding capacitor connected to a gate electrode of the drive transistor, and a selection transistor connected between a signal line and the gate electrode of the drive transistor. When the selection transistor is turned on, gradation pixel data is written in the holding capacitor from the signal line. The charge of gradation pixel data written in the holding capacitor is discharged for a certain period through the drive transistor, thereafter the charge of the gradation pixel data stored in the holding capacitor is held by floating the gate electrode of the drive transistor.
