Patent number: 6295483Abstract: One matrix board aggregate accommodating two matrix boards is made one unit of a switch. Three of the matrix board aggregates are vertically located, groups of such three vertically-located matrix board aggregates are laterally located and robots are provided between the matrix board aggregates. By providing a number of robots, the switch operation speeds up. The robots are controlled by a control circuit/power supply RMC/POW. I/O cables for connecting an MDF apparatus to an exchange or to lines are provided at the back. In a three-stage switching configuration, by devising the location of primary, secondary and tertiary switches, interconnection between matrix board aggregates can be made using BWBs made of a printed wiring board.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 1999Date of Patent: September 25, 2001Assignee: Fujitsu LimitedInventors: Hitoshi Isobe, Masahiro Ito, Takashi Murakami

Patent number: 6021845Abstract: A sapphire interface with a closed cycle cryogenic cooler replace liquid nitrogen in cryotraps for gas chromatographs, cryofocusers for gas chromatographs, DMA's and DSC's. Inverse thermal properties of sapphire allow the closed cycle cooler to function at cryogenic temperatures at one end of a sapphire element while temperature of a test element is raised at the other end. Quartz and silicon are alternatives to sapphire. Substantial mass of the sapphire interface is eliminated by making the test element an integral part of the assembly and enables use of a smaller capacity cooling system. Low mass provides rapid temperature changes when switching between heating and cooling. The cooling requirement remains substantially constant, whether a test sample is heated or cooled.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1998Date of Patent: February 8, 2000Inventors: Dennis Hill, Terence Rufer, Ravi Bains

Patent number: 5900906Abstract: Video data is coded at either a minimum transfer rate or maximum transfer rate and stored in a storage unit as a video reply message. In a case where the video data has been coded at the minimum transfer rate and stored, the video reply message is transmitted upon being multiplexed with an audio reply message if the actual transfer rate agrees with the minimum transfer rate. If the two transfer rates are different, invalid bits conforming to the difference between the rates are generated and the invalid bits, the audio reply message and the video reply message are multiplexed and transmitted. In a case where the video data has been coded at the maximum transfer rate and stored, on the other hand, the video reply message is decoded when an incoming call arrives, the video data thus obtained is coded based upon the actual transfer rate, and the video reply message obtained by coding is multiplexed with the audio reply message and transmitted.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1997Date of Patent: May 4, 1999Assignee: Fujitsu LimitedInventors: Masashi Murakumo, Naomasa Nishimura, Takehiko Fujiyama

Patent number: 5754545Abstract: An add-drop multiplexer contains a partial drop unit and a partial add unit. The partial drop unit selects a number n of first signal(s) of n channel(s) among a number N of first signals of N channels, which are received from a first transmission line, and transmits the n first signal(s) of n channel(s) on at least one second transmission line, where N and n are integers satisfying N>n>0. The partial add unit receives n second signal(s) of n channel(s) from at least one third transmission line, and a number (N-n) of first signal(s) of (N-n) channel(s) among the N first signals of the N channels, which are not selected by the partial drop unit, and transmits on the first transmission line the n second signal(s) of n channel(s) and the (N-n) first signal(s) of (N-n) channel(s) as N third signals of N channels.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 1996Date of Patent: May 19, 1998Assignee: Fujitsu LimitedInventors: Masahiro Shinbashi, Akihiko Oka, Kazuo Takatsu, Hideaki Mochizuki, Junichi Ishiwatari, Koji Iwamoto

Patent number: 5696886Abstract: A data replacing unit replaces a data packet among a plurality of predetermined data packets in the data replacement manner, which manner is provided by a first control unit as is necessary. An initializing unit generates initializing data using a high-speed clock, clock speed of which is higher than that used by the first control unit, the initializing data being used for initializing the data replacing unit so as to refresh the replacing unit before the data replacement operation is started. A selecting unit, initially and until the initialization is completed, selects data so that the initializing data is provided to the data replacing unit but the control data is not provided thereto.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 1996Date of Patent: December 9, 1997Assignee: Fujitsu LimitedInventors: Akira Maruyama, Hiroichi Nara

Patent number: 5636275Abstract: A hinge mechanism for use in a portable telephone in which a foldable lid is rotatably supported by the hinge mechanism to rotate the foldable lid between an opened position and a closed position, includes a rotary shaft on which the lid is rotatably supported. A first spring, fitted to the shaft, generates a biasing force to rotate the lid on the shaft in a first direction from the closed position to the opened position. A second spring, fitted to the shaft, generates a biasing force to rotate the lid on the shaft in a second direction opposite to the first direction after the lid is further rotated from the opened position in the first direction. A first stopper restricts a rotation of the shaft in the first direction to cancel the biasing force of the first spring when the lid is further rotated on the shaft in the first direction from the opened position.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 1996Date of Patent: June 3, 1997Assignee: Fujitsu LimitedInventors: Hisamitsu Takagi, Takahiro Agai, Tatsuzi Shigeta, Shigeru Takahashi, Yosiaki Kato

Patent number: 5535583Abstract: A rope chain is fabricated of hollow links that have been intertwined to form a rope chain of the double helix type. The hollow rope chain is moved continuously, in a continuous length, over pulley guides whereon the exposed surface of the rope chain is deformed without material removal. Rotating tools, having sloped surfaces, wedge against the outer surface of the rope chain links and flatten them as the tool and chain move in opposite directions relative to each other. The tools have no cutting edges, but deform the rope chain entirely by wedging action of the tool surfaces that interfere with the outer circumference of the rope chain and move the link wall both inwardly and longitudinally. Conventional diamond cutting facet machines, which are used to shear facets, are adapted for use in accordance with the invention by removing the shearing tools and installing wedging tools.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 1994Date of Patent: July 16, 1996Assignee: Aurez LimitedInventors: Stephen Holzer, Benjamin Hillel
