  • Patent number: 6497702
Abstract: The invention concerns a probe for applying a high frequency electromagnetic energy flux on the skin through a mixture of conductive gel and a treatment product, designed to cause the treatment product to penetrate into the skin. The probe is provided with a non-conductive bearing surface (14), having a plurality of openings (6) around or in the proximity of which inductor elements (5) arranged in successive layers emit an electromagnetic field. The openings (6) emerge through an orifice (3) and contain the gel/treatment product mixture whereof the penetration into the skin is activated by the electromagnetic field. Advantageously, the probe further comprises at least one source of laser electromagnetic radiation (8) arranged inside or aligned with at least one opening (4) emerging in the bearing surface (14), so as to act jointly with the electromagnetic radiation emitted by the inductor element (5).

  • Patent number: 6494672
Abstract: Compensating for the complex changing shape and location of a turbocompressor's surge limit line can be difficult and imprecise when using antisurge controllers that do not incorporate sufficient capability. Based upon various operating conditions, surge limit line changes can be attributed to a number of process variables. These effects are particularly relevant to multistage centrifgal and axial turbocompressors operating with variable rotational speed and equipped with adjustable inlet or diffuser guide vanes, or both. This invention relates to an innovative method of antisurge control in which the function of those process variables (comprising the turbocompressor operating condition parameters) is used to calculate distances to the surge reference line. The function is formed as a superposition of the functions of lesser numbers of variables.

  • Patent number: 6491512
Abstract: A two-stage ejection system for an injection mold that allows the mold plates to move at the same time and then allows selected plates to be stopped in a locked position while the other plates continue to move. The system includes an external bushing, an internal bushing that carries cam retainers, and an ejector pin. The system may be used in an injection mold having in sequence a stationary plate, a stripper plate, a support plate and an ejection plate. The external bushing is secured to the support plate, the internal bushing is secured to the stripper plate, and the ejector pin is secured to the ejection plate. The cam retainers selectively engage grooves in the external bushing or ejector pin to lock their respective attached plates from moving with respect to each other while the other plates continue to move.

  • Patent number: 6485399
Abstract: A leg exercise device adapted for use with an adjustable dumbbell independent of a weight bench. The leg exercise device includes a bracket with a central sleeve that receives the bar of an adjustable dumbbell. Weight plates are attached to one end of the dumbbell bar and secured by a locking collar, while the other end of the bar receives a locking collar to secure the bar within the sleeve. A pair of opposing side portions extend out from the central sleeve and a foot handle is rotatable attached to each side portion. The foot handles include a pair of spaced outwardly extending padded fingers that engage opposite sides of the user's foot. The leg exercise device may be used to do leg extensions or leg curls on a weight bench that does not have an attachment designed for that purpose. The foot handles rotate while leg extensions or leg curls are being done so that the weight resistance automatically adjusts throughout the eccentric and concentric phases of each exercise.
