Abstract: A fuel tank with a baffle disposed therein is disposed at an intermediate place between the two ends of the tank is provided for preventing noise caused when fuel shifts in the fuel tank from one end to the other. In a preferred embodiment, the baffle is constructed of a fiberglass filter media material. Also in a preferred embodiment, the baffle is collapsible so that it can be inserted into an opening in the top of a plastic fuel tank and then allowed to return to its original larger height whereby it will be held by a biasing pressure in a desired position within the tank.

Abstract: A tubular element for drawing liquid from a container is shown including a first end designed to be connected to a source of vacuum and a second end designed to be immersed in the liquid to be drawn. The tubular element is designed to pass through an orifice or an inlet conduit, made from an elastically extendable materia. The cross section of the tubular element is sized to be contiguous with the edge of the orifice or with the wall of the conduit. The tubular element also includes an annular bulge with a truncated cone shaped surface which includes a small base, which is directed towards the second end and has a diameter substantially equal to the external diameter of the said tubular element and which also includes a large base which with the external surface of the tubular element, defines a bearing surface and serves as an end stop with the conduit wall or the aperture of said container.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the production of 1,3-propanediol by the fermentation of a 1,3-propanediol-producing microorganism in a fermentation medium containing glucose, characterized in that the fermentation is carried out without mechanical agitation, with the maintenance of an air retention greater than or equal to 50%, expressed as the volume of gas relative to the total volume of the liquid phase of the fermentation medium, and with the maintenance of a high cell density and a microorganism viability value, determined by a test A, greater than or equal to 95%, preferably of between 95 and 99%, by controlling frothing in the fermentation medium.

Abstract: A head covering made of a flexible material member wherein the flexible material member includes an inside surface, an outside surface and at least three corners. A first portion of the flexible material member is formed between the first corner and the second corner and is inclusive of the first and second corner. A first fastener is used to secure the first corner in close proximity to the second corner. A second fastener is used to secure the third corner to the first portion. In another embodiment disclosed, a first fastener is used to connect the first corner to the third corner and a second fastener is used to connect the second corner to the third corner. In both embodiments, an opening is provided to receive a pony tail therethrough.

Abstract: Methods for acidification of soapstock and recovery of acidulated fatty acids are disclosed. Further methods of conversion of the acidulated fatty acids to esters are also disclosed. Further methods of crystallizing the acidulated fatty acids from the extraction solvent at low temperatures and fractionating the acidulated fatty acids from the extraction solvent using urea are also disclosed. The novel method of adding both a monohydric alcohol to the soapstock to lower viscosity and a strong acid to hydrolyse the soaps prevents the formation of emulsions of soaps and oils. The preferred embodiment uses a soapstock such as soybean soapstock, sulphuric acid and isopropanol. The novel process allows the quantitative recovery of fatty acids and glyceride from the soapstock by removal of the alcohol by evaporation. Alternatively the fatty acids and glyceride may be converted to esters of monohydric alcohols.

Abstract: A defroster deflector formed of an elongated flexible channel attached to the interior surface of a vehicle windshield near its upper edge. The channel is an inverted U-shape with an outer wall, a top wall, and an inner wall. The outer wall includes an adhesive surface with a peel-away cover that is removed immediately before the channel is placed into contact with and secured to the windshield. The channel is formed of a flexible material such as neoprene, polyurethane, or rubber that can flex and stretch while retaining its original U-shape.

The invention also relates to compositions intended in particular for the food and pharmaceutical fields and to the use of the said pulverulent sorbitol in the preparation of tablets exhibiting a <<smooth in the mouth>> texture.
