  • Patent number: 6730677
Abstract: Compounds of general structural formula (1) are shown to have AMPA receptor enhancing properties. The compounds are useful for such therapeutic purposes as facilitating the learning of behaviors dependent upon AMPA receptors, and in treating conditions, such as memory impairment, in which AMPA receptors, or synapses utilizing these receptors, are reduced in numbers or efficiency. They may also be used to enhance excitatory synaptic activity in order to restore an imbalance between brain subregions, as in treatment of schizophrenia or schizophreniform behavior.

  • Patent number: 6720155
Abstract: A method of isolating a monoclonal antibody capable of inhibiting any one of IL-3, GM-CSF and IL-5 binding to the common receptor &bgr;c or a monoclonal antibody capable of inhibiting the cytokines binding to a receptor analogous to &bgr;c. The method includes the steps of immunizing an animal with a cytokine receptor or portion of a cytokine containing the critical binding site which portion includes the extracellular domain 4 or an analogous domain in the analogous common receptor or part thereof. Antibodies producing cells from the animal are then isolated and fused with a myeloma cell line and then screened for a cell line that produces an antibody of the desired type. A monoclonal antibody, or fragments thereof capable of inhibiting the binding of the cytokines IL-3, GM-CSF and IL-5 to the &bgr;c receptor, and a hybridoma cell line producing the antibody are also claimed.

  • Patent number: 6702173
Abstract: When a movement of a film-like printing body is stopped for a longer time than the normal time because of generation of trouble or the like, heat of hot plates for full heating is prevented from being transmitted to the film-like printing body. All of the hot plates (3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) for preheating and full heating are moved downward, and a warp inhibiting body (27) is moved upward. Further, a shutter (34) for shutting off heat is inserted between the film-like printing body (2) and the full heating hot plates (6, 7). Further, at this time, a cold blast is blown to the shutter (34) for shutting off the heat.

  • Patent number: 6701638
Abstract: A machine for the conditioning of laminar flexible products such as industrial hides and skins, including at least one conditioning unit crossed by the products to be processed, blowers for blowing and extracting air directed toward products, and a series of air jets blowing simultaneously on both sides of the products under treatment in a transverse direction with respect to the advancement direction of the products. The products are caused to advance along a substantially horizontal plane by means of pairs of annular threads uniformly distributed across the useful width of the conditioning paths. The threads of each pair are placed on opposite sides and in contact with the products to support and transfer them along the path leaving their side surfaces substantially free. As an alternative, the advancement means are formed by pairs of endless belts in mutually facing relationship to firmly hold the products while permitting passage of blown air.

  • Patent number: 6681967
Abstract: This method is applied in men stocking boarding units including an implement bearing several boarding shapes and suited to be led into a steam boarding chamber defined by two shells, movable with respect to each other into a mutual opening and closing position. The method provides for grasping the stocking inserted on a relevant boarding shape, in correspondence with the cuff of said stocking and on opposing sides of boarding shape itself, inside said boarding chamber, by means of opposing gripping means bound to shells of boarding chamber. Upon boarding unit shells closure, said gripping means are elastically deformed and stretch the stocking leg on the boarding shape to a preset length. The stocking leg is kept stretched during the boarding phase inside the boarding chamber.
