Abstract: Migration management is provided for a shared memory logical partition migrating from a source system to a target system. The management approach includes managing migration of the logical partition from the source system to the target system by: transferring a portion of logical partition state information for the migrating logical partition from the source system to the target system by copying at the source system contents of a logical page of the migrating logical partition into a state record buffer for forwarding to the target system; forwarding the state record buffer to the target system; and determining whether the migrating logical partition is suspended at the source system, and if not, copying at the target system contents of the state record buffer to paging storage of the target system, the paging storage being external to physical memory managed by a hypervisor of the target system.

Abstract: A composite interface and methods of fabrication are provided for coupling a cooling assembly to an electronic device. The interface includes a plurality of thermally conductive wires formed of a first material having a first thermal conductivity, and a thermal interface material at least partially surrounding the wires. The interface material, which thermally interfaces the cooling assembly to a surface to be cooled of the electronic device, is a second material having a second thermal conductivity, wherein the first thermal conductivity is greater than the second thermal conductivity. At least some wires reside partially over a first region of higher heat flux and extend partially over a second region of lower heat flux, wherein the first and second regions are different regions of the surface to he cooled. These wires function as thermal spreaders facilitating heat transfer from the surface to be cooled to the cooling assembly.

Abstract: A knife and device assembly includes a knife with a blade part and a handle part having on the blade part, near the handle part, a hook shaped part with an interior recess, in combination with a device comprising an extended handle. A front end of the handle has both a pin for engaging with and pivoting in the hook shaped part of the blade part, and a cutting element to cut metal wires and the like. The handle fulfills the function of cutting pliers with the handle part of the knife. The front end of the handle has a fork shape with two wings braced by the pin. The cutting element is received in a space formed between the wings, the pin and a bottom of the fork shape, and has a cutting part projecting beyond the handle.
Abstract: Transparent hypervisor pinning of critical memory areas is provided for a shared memory partition data processing system. The transparent hypervisor pinning includes receiving at a hypervisor a hypervisor call initiated by a logical partition to register a logical memory area of the logical partition with the hypervisor. Responsive to this hypervisor call, the hypervisor transparently determines whether the logical memory is a critical memory area for access by the hypervisor. If the logical memory area is a critical memory area, then the hypervisor automatically pins the logical memory area to physical memory of the shared memory partition data processing system, thereby ensuring that the memory area will not be paged-out from physical memory to external storage, and thus ensuring availability of the logic memory area to the hypervisor.

Abstract: Circuit structures and methods of fabrication are provided for facilitating implementing a complete electronic system in a compact package. The circuit structure includes, in one embodiment, a chips-first multichip base layer with conductive structures extending therethrough. An interconnect layer is disposed over the front surface of the multichip layer and includes interconnect metallization electrically connected to contact pads of the chips and to conductive structures extending through the structural material. A redistribution layer, disposed over the back surface of the multichip layer, includes a redistribution metallization also electrically connected to conductive structures extending through the structural material.
Abstract: Mounting rings and methods for mounting structures to shafts are provided. The rings and methods may be used to mount other rings or housings to a shaft. The rings are characterized by having flexible inner diameters that can deflect under a radial load. The radial deflection of the inner diameter permits the rings to deflect and engage an outer diameter of a shaft. The engagement of the rings with a shaft provides at least some resistance to movement, for example, rotation and/or axial displacement, of the shaft relative to the ring and structure. In one aspect, the ring has a closed, hollow, construction, for example, a circular, oval, or polygonal closed, hollow construction. The ring may include a plurality of indentations, such as slots, on the inside diameter of the ring that may relieve at least some of the circumferential stress in the ring. Methods for using the rings to mount a structure to a shaft are also disclosed.
Abstract: A keyed delay is used in the processing of streaming data to decrease the processing performed and the output provided. A first event, within a particular window, having a particular key starts a delay condition. Arriving events with the same key replace the previous arrival for that key until the delay condition is satisfied. In response thereto, the latest event with that key is output.

Abstract: A yield management method and system are provided for enhancing revenue obtained from a given cargo flight capacity; the capacity being defined by the weight and volume of freights that may be transported. A set of historical profiles of capacity reserved by each category is stored for previous instances of the flight. Corresponding potential profiles are estimated independently for the weight and volume. The estimation is carried out taking into consideration the corresponding capacity currently reserved by the category for a future instance of the flight; and this result is emphasized according to a corresponding unconstrained demand for the category. A series of historical scenarios of the demand at the departure of previous instances of the flight are obtained from the potential profiles, and a stochastic model is applied to the historical scenarios according to the corresponding probabilities for calculating the optimised weight and volume authorizations for each category.

The present invention further relates to methods of using the bioactive compositions of the present invention, including, for example, methods for inhibiting inflammatory activity in skin tissue of a mammal, for protecting skin tissue of a mammal from ultraviolet light-induced damage, and for normalizing skin disorders in skin tissue of a mammal. The present invention also relates to methods for isolating bioactive fractions derived from cell juice or a cell walls component a Theacea plant.
Abstract: An Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) proxy infrastructure to transparently route incoming queries to one or more selected query engines. The ODBC proxy receives a query from an application, and determines based on the characteristics of the query and the capabilities of the query engines which one or more query engines are to perform the query. The proxy then routes the query to the one or more query engines, which perform the query. The results are then returned to the proxy, which provides the results to the application.
