  • Patent number: 4187528
Abstract: A unit is disclosed for individually controlling power to multiple loads, such as lights. The unit has multiple phase control channels, each having thyristor control of current to the load, triggered by a ramp-and-pedestal firing circuit employing a unijunction transistor with a capacitor at its emitter. The system has a circuit providing a pulse to all of the firing circuits to discharge the capacitor synchronous with the AC line. Another circuit generates a sinusoidal compensating signal for all of the firing circuits. Each of the load channels has its own power control. In addition, a master control allows the power on all channels to be changed together, with the proportion of power in each channel set by its individual control. The unit is housed in a box having a base sheet shaped to form front, bottom and rear walls, with side walls attached at opposite edges of the base sheet.

  • Patent number: 4186166
Abstract: Method and apparatus for producing a concrete panel having a fractured rib finish is disclosed. A quantity of relatively low slump concrete mixture is cast upon a pallet in the form of a panel and is extruded to define projecting ribs and channels. The casting is permitted to harden until the concrete becomes rigid but not completely set. Thereafter an array of wedges secured to a carriage assembly is drawn along the length of the panel with each wedge disposed in shearing engagement with edge portions of an adjacent pair of ribs. Each wedge includes a shoulder portion wider than the channel for shearing and forcibly displacing portions of the ribs as the wedge is drawn through the channel. Means are provided for propelling the carriage assembly along the length of the panel and in a direction parallel to the orientation of the ribs. A concrete panel having a fractured rib finish produced by the method of the invention is similar in appearance to a concrete panel having a manually hammered rib finish.

  • Patent number: 4166701
Abstract: The color balance of color photographic printing paper is determined by making three successive exposures of separate portions of a sample sheet of printing paper through a neutral-color optical wedge of linear density gradient, each exposure consisting essentially of a different primary color of light of predetermined intensity and duration to selectively stimulate each of the three color-sensitive emulsion layers in the printing paper. The three images produced upon development provide a means for objective quantitative measurement of the relative responsiveness of each of the emulsion layers using a reflection densitometer to locate points of equal optical density, the relative linear displacement of the points providing color-balance correction factors. An easel is provided with a sliding carriage for positioning the sample sheet of printing paper in proper relationship to the optical wedge, which is fixed in place in an aperture in a light-proof cover.

  • Patent number: 4158759
Abstract: An electronic display having a plurality of digit positions is employed in conjunction with a keyboard to enter data for controlling the operation of a microwave oven. Each digit position of the display is individually responsive to a corresponding key of the keyboard, whereby actuating such key causes its display digit to run repetitively through a numerical sequence without carrying over into other display digits. Upon stopping actuation of such key, its display digit stops on the numeral displayed at that moment. Other digits of the display may be similarly loaded with data, whereby the fully loaded display represents a control parameter, such as cooking time. Actuating a start key permits the oven to carry out a cooking program in accordance with the data thus entered into the display.
