  • Patent number: 6470626
Abstract: A railroad gate release mechanism which attaches between the mount arms of a railroad gate actuator and a crossing arm to prevent breakage of the crossing arm due to impingement by a vehicle. The railroad gate release mechanism includes a pivotable arm assembly which allows movement of the crossing arm in two directions in response to the impingement and returns the crossing arm to the original and detented position subsequent to the impingement to maintain grade crossing protection. Spring assemblies, a shock absorber and a spring centering assembly act to return the pivotable arm assembly and attached crossing arm to the normal detented position.

  • Patent number: 6471683
Abstract: A device for removing a thrombus or other tissue deposit from the cardiovascular system, natural or synthetic tubule or cavity found in the human body of a patient without the need to surgically access the location of the thrombus or other tissue deposit via a cut-down or other surgical procedure. A catheter is inserted percutaneously into the patient at a convenient location either directly or over a previously positioned guidewire or inside a guide catheter. The distal end of the catheter is advanced under fluoroscopy to the site of the thrombus or tissue deposit. Alternatively, the catheter may be positioned at the desired location by surgical procedure. An elastic balloon may be inflated to stabilize the position of the distal end of the catheter within the center of the vessel lumen. A dilatation balloon may be inflated perioperatively to dilate the underlying vessel or tubule lesion.

  • Patent number: 6447863
Abstract: A flexible labeling system applied to spines of various bound documents such as books without imprinted or embossed titles on their back bindings, wire coil bound documents, plastic comb bound documents, photo albums, compact disc jewel boxes, record album jackets which are too thin to readily hold identification labels, and brochures of various kinds that have no identification means that can be seen when they are standing side-by-side on shelves. The flexible labeling system permits users to easily and conveniently provide labeling for these types of documents. The flexible labeling system is comprised of a flexible plastic member incorporating two living hinges created by a pair of parallel V-shaped grooves, either continuous or segmented, or perforations which are either die-cut or stamped into the flexible plastic member. Also incorporated are two opposing adhesive strips secured to the flexible plastic member, each adhesive strip being provided with a peel-off protective strip.

  • Patent number: 6442805
Abstract: An attachment system for configured slots which utilizes pivotally opposed major and minor jaws which can be biased in a closed or in an open position. The major and minor jaws are aligned in the receptor cavity of a configured rectangular tube and are actuated to fully and to frictionally engage the receptor cavity. Such actuation also causes outwardly-facing grooves on the ends of the major and minor jaws to engage a suitably-shaped configured slot on a configured tube or other structure. Such preceding action connects a configured rectangular tube and a structure having a suitably-shaped configured slot by the use of the intermediate major and minor jaws. Provisions are also made for snapping engagement of the pivotally opposed major and minor jaws of biased open major and minor jaws with a suitably-shaped configured slot.

  • Patent number: 6438892
Abstract: A baiting system for a fishing hook that controls, directs and holds live fishing bait, specifically leeches, in a confined space for proper threading on a fishing hook without requiring one's hands or fingers to touch the live bait. The system includes a funnel with a stem, a stopper to be inserted into the funnel at the stem, a soft plastic tubing engaged over the lower end of the stem, and at the lower end of the plastic tubing at least one hole followed by a slit, with optional opposing hole and slit, and a binder clip at the bottom to trap the bait. The bait, such as a leech, is dropped into the funnel and positioned by the stopper to slide tail first into the plastic tubing. The barb of the fish hook is inserted through the hole, into the tail of the bait, and then the binder clip is removed and the hooked bait is pulled down through the slit of the plastic tubing.

  • Patent number: 6436085
Abstract: A suction catheter system including a durable transparent pouch used to hold irrigating solution and a catheter in a contaminant-free environment between uses. The suction catheter system allows the practitioner to reuse the catheter several times for the same patient rather than using a new catheter for each suctioning when the practitioner needs use of both hands and has to lay the catheter down.

  • Patent number: 6391804
Abstract: Method and apparatus for uniform direct radiant heating in a rapid thermal processing reactor where uniformity of temperature across the width and breadth of a semiconductor wafer is achieved by placement of a dome-shaped thermal insert in close proximity to a semiconductor wafer in process. Thermal energy is absorbed by the thermal insert from the semiconductor wafer at a high rate where the spacing between the thermal insert and semiconductor wafer is at a minimum and at a gradually reduced rate where the spacing between the thermal insert and semiconductor wafer is gradually increased. A guard ring is also incorporated to negate bottom side reflective thermal energy exposure.

  • Patent number: 6357608
Abstract: A closet organizer suspension system which uses shelving supported by notched vertical poles in conjunction with tension rods screwed upwardly into the studs and/or top plates of walls, and custom hardware and accessories. Also used are metal tension straps secured to the top plates. This configuration allows a heavier load to be transferred to the studs and top plates rather than the drywall being used to support the shelving loads. The closet organizer suspension system allows the user to custom configure its components to provide maximum use of allotted space.

  • Patent number: 6355027
Abstract: Flexible microcatheter having regions of different flexibility integrally and strategically placed along and about the length of a one-piece composite catheter tube. Distally the flexible microcatheter exhibits pronounced flexibility with respect to locations or regions of flexibility located proximally for navigation along tortuous vascular paths. Different regions of flexibility are formed by applying resins of different Shore hardness readings either singularly or in combination along and about a braid which overlies an inner resin layer. The encapsulated braid provides resistance to kinking and bending of the flexible microcatheter as well as providing for torque transmission and pushability along the length of the flexible microcatheter.
