  • Patent number: 4928892
Abstract: A conventional meat grinder contains a chopper knife and a chopper plate, the chopper knife rides on the inner surface of the chopper plate and directs the bone fragments, sinews and gristle inwardly toward the central portion of the chopper plate as it chops the meat. The central portion of the chopper plate has a funnel-shaped, frusto-conical central passageway within which the bone fragments, gristle and sinews are collected and are urged outward, first passing through the frusto-conical passageway and out the small end of the passageway, into opposed discharge channels which passes through the hub of the plate and communicates with a discharge tube whose distal end is closed or partially closed by a removeable stopper or adjustable clamp.

  • Patent number: 4923331
Abstract: A composite ground water drainage system for foundation walls having an elongated drainpipe for placement along the bottom of a foundation wall and a base piece of a sheet of a textured, water impervious material for placement longitudinally along the foundation wall in a substantially vertical position between the foundation and the drainpipe both the drainpipe and the base piece being wrapped in a filter fabric, the fabric including a flap for wrapping around the base piece. A plurality of chimney assemblies are spaced along the base piece extending substantially upwardly and perpendicularly thereto, each chimney assembly also including a sheet of textured material and filter fabric wrapped around the textured material. To create a composite drainage and gas venting system, a vent may be added to one or more of the chimney assemblies, the vent extending from the top of the chimney assembly above the surface of the soil placed over the drainage system.

  • Patent number: 4924097
Abstract: A monodisperse aerosol generator forms a stable jet of liquid at a velocity allowing columnar breakup into droplets of uniform size and spacing. To prevent degradation of the monodisperse aerosol, it is disposed by entrainment in a high velocity gaseous stream. To provide an interface for direct injection onto a particle collection device or into an infrared or Raman spectrometer or to interface a liquid chromatograph with a particle collection device or an infrared or Raman spectrometer, the generator is followed by a desolvation chamber operation at about atmospheric pressure and a multistage pressure reducer which evacuates solvent vapor and gaseous medium to form a high momentum, solvent-depleted solute aerosol beam which is input into the infrared or Raman spectrometer.

  • Patent number: 4917712
Abstract: A compact pneumatic air filter system for filtering conditioned air laden with dust and reusable debris is disclosed, which has an initial filter stage for collecting reusable debris from air and separately storing it for reuse, and a secondary filter system for collecting remaining dust from air for disposal and re-releasing conditioned air to a work environment. The system utilizes alternating positive and negative air pressures to move debris and dirt to appropriate storage spaces within the system, and to move filtered air back into the work environment by migration through filter walls, thereby retaining the conditioned property of the filtered air.

  • Patent number: 4908730
Abstract: A surge arrester of modular form, including a metal oxide varistor disk having a coaxial shunt gap located within the disk. The metal oxide varistor disk has a hole located essentially through the center of the disk and includes top and bottom electrode plates having centrally located projections which protrude inwardly of the disk into the hole of the disk, thereby forming a shunt gap within the disk. The module may be used unhoused in under-oil applications or as a component part of a housed arrester. For under-oil applications, the electrode plates are solder sealed to the disk providing a seal preventing oil or moisture from entering the hole in the shunt gap. As an alternate embodiment the surge arrester module may include a series of two or more of such disks stacked between the top and bottom electrode plates.

  • Patent number: 4903624
Abstract: Laterally shiftable front and back needle bars are slideably mounted on a main needle bar, the front needle bar carries a front row of needles and a back needle bar carries a back row of needles. Cut pile loopers cooperate with the needles of the back row and cut-loop loopers cooperate with the needles of the front row. Needles in the front row are larger and handle larger size yarns than needles in the back row and a yarn feed control dictates whether yarns in the front needles make low loops or high cut piles.

  • Patent number: 4903625
Abstract: A conventional tufting machine is provided with front and back juxtaposed, laterally shiftable, needle bars positioned on a common needle bar support, the needles of the front needle bar cooperating with loop pile loopers and the needles of the back needle bar cooperating with cut-loop loopers. Yarn feed controls respectively feed yarns to the needles according to individual prescribed patterns. The needle bars are respectively shifted laterally according to individual prescribed patterns.Tufted fabric produced by the machine is illustrated in which the loop tufts produced by the front needles are of relatively small cross section while the selectively cut or loop tufts produced by the back needles are of relatively large cross section. The large loop tufts are interspersed with small loop tufts due in part to lateral shifting of the needles.

  • Patent number: 4901877
Abstract: A container with a lid which is provided with scorelines defining a plurality of long narrow lugs. A tab is secured by its midportion to the central portion of the lid and has at one end a plurality of fingers which respectively terminate over the lugs for pushing the lugs into the container when the tab is lifted. The displaced lugs leave parallel, narrow slits which preclude the entry of insects, such as bees, into the container.

  • Patent number: 4899421
Abstract: An apparatus for removing the fecal matter from the rectal cavity of slaughtered poultry in a poultry processing line, prior to evisceration, including a hollow probe for insertion into and extraction form the rectal cavity, the movements thereof being controlled in such a manner that, after the poultry is positioned, the probe is inserted into the rectal cavity of the poultry while pulling a pulsating vacuum and then extracted while pulling a continuous vacuum thus removing the fecal matter in a two-stage process. A water flush for the probe is provided to thoroughly clean the probe of fecal matter with a continuous stream of water near the back of the apparatus prior to automatically engaging other oncoming birds at the fecal removal apparatus. As an alternate embodiment, the vacuum can be combined with a water flush to facilitate the removal of the fecal matter.
