Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for pumping a gas. The method includes the steps of ionizing the gas, separating the ionized gas into groups of positive and negative ions using positive and negative electric fields and separately pulling the groups of positive and negative ions along a channel using the negative and positive electric fields.
Abstract: A method and system for scheduling a callback time for customer service. The system calculates estimated handling resources for a customer interaction system (14) and forecasts a customer service transaction workload for the estimated handling resources of the customer interaction system (14). The system then determines the scheduled callback time based upon the estimated handling resources and the forecasted customer service transaction workload.

Abstract: A water feature for use in landscaping applications. A water issuing device, such as a waterfall construction is provided for receiving water and discharging water onto a gravel bed. The bed is positioned below the waterfall and forms a path or surface along which the water can flow in a stream-like manner and through which the water can percolate downwardly into the bed. A perforated and tubularly shaped collection module having a plurality of openings for receiving water percolating downwardly through the bed. A cylindrically-shaped and generally vertically oriented stack is coupled to the module for receiving water therefrom. A pump in the stack receives water from the water collection member and directs water to the waterfall construction. It is noted that water from the waterfall appears to disappear into the gravel and only a shallow stream is formed.
Abstract: A solvent composition of about 90 to about 10 percent by weight C1-C4 lactate ester and about 10 to about 90 percent by weight C2-C6 aliphatic alcohol with low odor and enhanced performance properties is disclosed. This composition can also be mixed with other solvents and continue to provide the low odor and enhanced performance properties.
Abstract: In the case of forming fine wires and the like by a droplet discharging apparatus to manufacture electric circuits, discharging controls including controls of a discharging position, a discharging timing, and the like are required to have very high accuracy. After forming design diagram data of an electric circuit by a CAD tool, the design diagram data is converted into first raster data, which is then converted into second raster data. The first raster data is a square grid regarding a dot pitch Xdp in a horizontal direction and a dot pitch Ydp in a perpendicular direction as one unit. The second raster data is a rectangular grid regarding the dot pitch Xdp in the horizontal direction and a dot pitch Ydp/V (V>1) as one unit. It is to be noted that arbitrary discharging number is the same before and after the conversion from the first raster data to the second raster data.

Abstract: A cooling device is provided, where an LED backlight can be efficiently cooled in order to suppress display unevenness caused by heat generated from the LED backlight. In addition, a display device including the cooling device is also provided. A display device is provided, where the LED backlight can be cooled by arranging a coolant pipe on a back surface side of the LED backlight and supplying a coolant to a coolant pipe. Further, a display device is provided, where cooling efficiency of the LED backlight can be more improved by arranging a thermal conductor between the LED backlight and the cooling device.

Abstract: A filter assembly for use with compressor assemblies such as oxygen concentrators, ventilators and other breathing apparatus including a compartmented housing member having at least one inlet opening, an outlet opening, a filter member, and an adjustment member associated with the at least one outlet opening for varying the size of the at least one outlet opening for adjusting the amount of ambient air entering the filter assembly.
Abstract: Systems and methods provide a self-learning knowledgebase in which the ranking and/or order of topic and thread items may be dynamically and automatically adjusted based on self-learning by the knowledgebase. The knowledgebase includes threaded conversations comprising thread topics and thread items within the thread topics. Lists of thread topics and lists of thread items are ordered lists. The order of a thread topic or thread item in an ordered list may be modified based on self-learning activities performed by an information server maintaining the knowledge base. A thread topic or thread item may be moved higher in the list based on requests to view the thread topic or thread item. Further, the order that a thread item appears in an order list may be modified based on a number of responses posted for the thread item.
Abstract: A light emitting element with reduced inconvenience due to dust or the like and a manufacturing method thereof. One feature of the invention is a light emitting element having a first layer provided so as to be in contact with a first electrode, and a second layer provided so as to be in contact with the first layer, between the first electrode and a second electrode. A light emitting layer exists between the second layer and the second electrode. The first electrode, the second electrode, the first layer, the second layer, and the light emitting layer are stacked so that the first layer is formed in advance compared with the second layer. Here, the first layer is a layer containing an organic compound. Especially, an organic compound having conductivity is preferable among organic compounds. Alternatively, the second layer is a layer containing an inorganic compound. In particular, an inorganic compound having hole transport property is preferable among inorganic compounds.

Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a capacitor-less memory which can prevent a change of a threshold voltage due to flowing out of carriers and improve the memory retention property without a complicated structure. In the capacitor-less memory which uses a transistor, the transistor includes a source region, a drain region, an active layer region which is provided between the source region and the drain region, and a gate electrode which is adjacent to the active layer region with an insulating film interposed therebetween. The source region is formed of a semiconductor having a larger band gap than a band gap of a semiconductor of the active layer region and a band gap of a semiconductor of the drain region, and a heterojunction is formed at the interface between the source region and the active layer region.

Abstract: The invention relates to a treatment probe for focused ultrasound including a probe body, which is mounted in rotation around an axis; an elongated treatment transducer with a focused ultrasound emission acoustic axis, which is more or less the same as the rotation axis of the probe body; and an imaging transducer, the imaging plane of which contains the acoustic axis of the treatment transducer. The inventive probe can be used to provide a simple treatment. The probe body can be rotated around the axis in order to vary the direction of the imaging plane without moving the focus, which always remains in the imaging plane. The treatment transducer can be extended in order to provide safer treatment in relation to the organs to be treated and without risk of damaging the fragile surrounding organs.
Abstract: The control of the spectral purity width E95 is performed while imparting practically no effect to the control of a central wavelength, and the spectral purity width E95 is stabilized. A wavefront adjuster 32 is provided on an output side of the interior of an optical resonator, i.e., on an output coupler 31 side. Light generated in a laser chamber 10 is transmitted through the wavefront adjuster 32 from the laser chamber 10 side, and reaches the output coupler 31. In the wavefront adjuster 32, the distance between concave and convex lenses 33 and 34 is adjusted so that a desired spectral purity width E95 can be obtained. Then, when the light passes through the wavefront adjuster 32, the wavefront of the light is adjusted to a desired wavefront.
Abstract: A test adaptor for performing turnaround testing on a T1 board that has a plurality of jack receptacles disposed therein. The test adaptor is comprised of a bracket, a plurality of openings, and a plurality of test plugs. The bracket has a length and a width complimentary to the length and the width of an end of a T1 board. The plurality of openings disposed in the bracket are spaced apart from each other by predetermined distances that are complimentary to the spacing between the plurality of jack receptacles disposed in the T1 board. The plurality of test plugs are mounted within the plurality of openings in the bracket such that the plurality of test plugs can be engaged with the plurality of jack receptacles substantially simultaneously and with a single mechanical step.
Abstract: A first layer is formed over a substrate, a light absorbing layer is formed over the first layer, and a layer having a light-transmitting property is formed over the light absorbing layer. The light absorbing layer is selectively irradiated with a laser beam via the layer having a light-transmitting property. When the light absorbing layer absorbs energy of the laser beam, due to emission of gas that is within the light absorbing layer, or sublimation, evaporation, or the like of the light absorbing layer, a part of the light absorbing layer and a part of the layer having a light-transmitting property in contact with the light absorbing layer are removed. By using the remaining part of the layer having a light-transmitting property or the remaining part of the light absorbing layer as a mask and etching the first layer, the first layer can be processed into a desired shape.
