  • Patent number: 4759812
Abstract: A method and structure is disclosed herein for effecting repairs of ballistic damage in stressed aircraft structures, including bending of two thin manually deformable metal sheets each adhesively bonded to one part of a hook and pile fastening material, known as "Velcro", the bent and conformed patches once in place being impregnated with resin. Once the resin hardens the interlocked hook and pile surfaces are fixed, fixing the curvature and stiffness of the resulting patch.

  • Patent number: 4719778
Abstract: A triangular, sharp projection is formed in the surface of a key handle, the projection being directed into the interior of a key ring opening formed therein. This key ring projection includes edge recesses formed proximate the base thereof thereby providing a shape forcing the segments of a collapsed helical key ring apart, the recesses then maintaining the ring segments separated for insertion or removal of additional keys. In an alternative implementation the similar key ring separation projection may be formed on articles other than keys that can thus be carried on the key ring for convenience in key removal.

  • Patent number: 4624510
Abstract: A shelfing system is disclosed herein for use in storing data processing devices, said shelfing system including cooling blowers in the surfaces thereof for cooling the electronic equipment stored therein. The shelfing system, furthermore, is pivotally fastened for convenient maintenance access with the pivotal motion thereof restrained by a locking mechanism. Alternatively the shelving system may include locks in the various panels thereof which support a pivoted turntable to which the monitor of the data processing system is attached. This turntable includes a resilient panel compressed within the bearing which then imposes friction in the motion thereof for fixing the monitor alignment.

  • Patent number: 4613000
Abstract: A powered fastening tool described herein is useful to align and secure structural members to each other, the structural members having misaligned securing apertures. To accomodate this misalignment two eccentric bushings are nested and swaged together to be inserted into one of the misaligned apertures to be turned therein by the powered tool until an alignment is reached. The tool holds a fastener while concurrently rotating each eccentric bushing at an independent rate until hole alignment is achieved. At this point, the tool inserts the fastener through the hole in the lower structure and is then used to rotate the fastener into threaded engagement.

  • Patent number: 4608109
Abstract: A method for producing stable, layered electrets includes the steps of placing a thin sheet of glassy polymer or copolymer of high molecular weight, such as polyethylene terephthalate, between two, somewhat larger in planform, sheets of polyvinyl chloride and/or polyvinyl acetate formulation, to form a sandwich structure which is then compressed and heated to approximately 300.degree. F. At this temperature the exterior polyvinyl chloride or copolymer sheets are polarized and displaced under pressure over the interior sheet to charge the interfaces of the exterior and interior sheets. The heat, furthermore, bonds the peripheral edges of the larger exterior sheets to each other thus forming a hermetically closed container within which the charged interfaces will reside. Alternatively, two or more sheets of electret (polymer) material may be pressed and heated against each other to a point where plastic deformation occurs but below melting.

  • Patent number: 4604922
Abstract: A drill pipe spinner is disclosed including cam surfaces which in the course of tensioning the chain close the jaws of the spinner. The same cam surfaces provide jaw opening moments on release of the chain tension to allow the separation of the spinner from the pipe. These cam surfaces are formed on either side of two tracks in which two slides are fixedly connected to idlers which engage the chain. The idlers, moreover, are mounted for rotation on a transverse bar connected to a hydraulic actuator for tensioning the chain by convolving the chain path.

  • Patent number: 4527980
Abstract: An enclosure generally shaped to simulate the appearance of a flight vehicle is provided with a seat facing a video display and is supported on a parabolic dish for freedom of angular motion in the pitch and roll modes. Included in the enclosure may be a weighted control stick which, according to its angular displacement, displaces the effective center of gravity, thus moving the enclosure in the pitch and roll modes. A set of orthogonal resolvers deployed in the enclosure and pendulum articulated provide binary signals of the pitch and roll angles achieved to the video display, simulating the flight vehicle attitude while a program is cycled through a microprocessor and superposed onto the pitch and roll inputs to generate on the video screen images simulating flight.

  • Patent number: 4467403
Abstract: A portable light assembly conformed for excitation from the cigarette lighter outlet of an automobile comprises two light housings each universally pivoted from a central handle assembly. The central assembly includes opposed pivot fittings from which two laterally disposed swivel blocks are pivoted, each swivel block in turn pivotally supporting a corresponding light. In this form the alignment of each light may be individually selected to produce any desired beam pattern, the same pivotal freedom providing for a collapsed alignment where the lens portions of each light are protected from damage.
