  • Patent number: 8305213
Abstract: Since the chip formed from a silicon wafer is thick, the chip is protruded from the surface or the chip is so large that it can be seen through the eyes, which affects the design of a business card or the like. Hence, it is an object of the present invention to provide a new integrated circuit which has a structure by which the design is not affected. In view of the above problems, it is a feature of the invention to equip a film-like article with a thin film integrated circuit. It is another feature of the invention that the IDF chip has a semiconductor film of 0.2 mm or less, as an active region. Therefore, the IDF chip can be made thinner as compared with a chip formed from a silicon wafer. In addition, such an integrated circuit can have light transmitting characteristic unlike a chip formed from a silicon wafer.

  • Patent number: 8302623
Abstract: An cylindrical hollow anti-backflow insert that can rapidly retrofit a fire hydrant to prevent a forced liquid inflow into the fire hydrant after simple insertion of the insert into the outflow nozzles of a fire hydrant. A curved anti-backflow flap having a hinge at one end and an inflow fin at an opposite end is positioned within the insert. Outflow of water from the fire hydrant will cause the flap to rotate upwards, at which point the inflow fin protrudes into the interior of the insert sufficiently to catch any forced liquid inflow stream which will force the flap downward towards a curved flap seal. The curved flap seal reversibly engages the perimeter of the flap, thereby reversibly closing the rear end of the insert and preventing the forced inflow of liquid into the fire hydrant.

  • Patent number: 8305109
Abstract: An object is to obtain a desired threshold voltage of a thin film transistor using an oxide semiconductor. Another object is to suppress a change of the threshold voltage over time. Specifically, an object is to apply the thin film transistor to a logic circuit formed using a transistor having a desired threshold voltage. In order to achieve the above object, thin film transistors including oxide semiconductor layers with different thicknesses may be formed over the same substrate, and the thin film transistors whose threshold voltages are controlled by the thicknesses of the oxide semiconductor layers may be used to form a logic circuit. In addition, by using an oxide semiconductor film in contact with an oxide insulating film formed after dehydration or dehydrogenation treatment, a change in threshold voltage over time is suppressed and the reliability of a logic circuit can be improved.

  • Patent number: 8306476
Abstract: A transmitting accessory couples with a portable electronic device such that audio signals or data from the device can be digitally transmitted to a remote receiver. The accessory includes an input port for receiving audio data from the portable electronic device. A digital transmitter transmits digital data corresponding to the audio signals or data from the portable electronic device to the remote digital receiver. If the audio signal is an analog signal, the accessory uses encoding circuitry to digitally encode the analog audio signal for transmission. The audio signal may be encoded into an HD radio format for reception by an HD radio receiver. The user inputs of the portable electronic device can preferably be used to control functions of the accessory and the device's display to display the selected transmission frequency or channel.

  • Patent number: 8304022
Abstract: The invention provides a polyacrylic-based aerosol top coat composition for rapid and economical application of decorative faux finishes on architectural surfaces. The composition dries rapidly, permits further texturing before it dries if desired, is esthetically superior to faux finish top coats made by methods in the prior art, and when dry provides a top coat that is mechanically tough. The invention is particularly useful for providing wood grain faux finishes, and for creating three-dimensional wood-like effects on a two-dimensional non-wood surface. The invention further provides a method wherein a base coat is applied directly to a surfactant-free surface of any of several architectural materials such as bare vinyl, after which the top coat composition is sprayed on reiteratively as needed. Other coatings such as primer coats and protective overcoatings are optional.
