    Abstract: An object recognition apparatus that can recognize an object in an image acquired by an on-vehicle camera mounted on a vehicle with high efficiency and accuracy. A recognition processing is carried out in a cut off range, which is cut off from the image, and in which an object to be recognized is supposed to be present. The cut off range is obtained using support information supplied from a position detection device and/or an anti-lock brake device of the vehicle. Since the object in the image changes its position as the vehicle moves, the displacement must be estimated during the object recognition. The estimation requires camera attitude parameters of the on-vehicle camera with respect to the road, and the estimation is performed using support information supplied from the position detection device and/of the anti-lock brake device. This will improve the efficiency and accuracy of obtaining the camera attitude parameters.

    Abstract: In a method according to one intelligent network recommendation, when B subscriber has hung up the phone, a Service Switching Point (SSP) sends a message to a Service Control Point (SCP) about the hanging up. The SCP responds with a request to disconnect the B leg. A separate request increases unnecessary signalling. In another known method, after B subscriber has hung up, a timer is started and the B leg is disconnected only after a set period of time. This waiting time is annoying to A subscriber, especially when there are many calls to be made. In the method according to the invention, A subscriber can make a continuing call without waiting or without causing unnecessary signalling so that after a Service Control Function (SCF) receives information about the break off of the call, it sends a message to a Service Switching Function (SSF) containing a request to collect the dialling by A subscriber relating to a new B subscriber.

    Abstract: A codec is introduced, according to a new speech encoding method, into a speech transmitting transceiver of a digital telecommunications system in order to use a "new" codec and an "old" codec in parallel in the system. A codec is selected by implementing a handshaking procedure between transceivers, handshaking, where a speech encoding method implemented in all transceivers and previously used in the telecommunications system concerned, is used at the beginning of each connection. At the beginning of a phone call and after handover, the method checks whether both parties can also use the new speech encoding. The handshaking messages have been selected so that their effect on the quality of speech is minimal, and yet so that the probability of identifying the messages is maximal.

The highest value of a correlation vector is compared either to the second highest value or to the mean value of the other values. If a specific spreading code is used in the reception of the signal, the comparison forms a ratio of the signal and disturbance, the ratio being applicable particularly to combining signals from the diversity branches of a diversity receiver, whereby the method makes it possible to combine the signals even prior to detection. If the reception employs a spreading code with which no signal received by the receiver has been transmitted, it is possible by comparing the correlation values to form a noise quality estimate, an estimate value higher of which meaning that the receiver is receiving a signal and not just noise.
