Abstract: Polymers of itaconic acid are formed at high conversion by adding completely neutralized monomer solution and initiator solution to a vessel initially containing water at a temperature sufficient for polymerization. These polymers are biodegradable and are most useful as detergent additives, scale inhibitors and removers, sequesterants, yarn sizers, deflocculating agents, de-inking agents, suspending agents and dispersing agents.

Abstract: Stable, aqueous emulsion copolymers with controllable siloxane crosslinking functionality are provided. These copolymers are prepared by a concurrent free radical and cationic initiated emulsion polymerization of at least one free radical initiatable monomer at least one linear siloxane precursor monomer, and at least one bifunctional silane monomer having both free radical polymerizable and silicon functional groups. The copolymers are useful in curable coatings, paints, caulks, adhesives, non-woven and ceramic compositions and as modifiers, processing aids and additives in thermoplastics, cements and asphalts.
Abstract: Alkali-resistant core-shell polymers having an acid-insoluble core and an acid-soluble shell are prepared by sequential emulsion polymerization of a monomer mixture having acid-ionizable functionality such that the resulting polymer has an acid-insoluble core and an acid-soluble shell. Films from these alkali-resistant, core-shell polymers are resistant to high pH environments where alkali-resistance is required. The alkali-resistant, core-shell polymers are useful in applications such as inks, clear overprint varnishes, coatings, metal adhesion, fiber treatment, paper treatment, cathodic deposition coatings, stain blocking, coagulants and flocculants.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for loading a gate into a valve mechanism with a gate safety arrangement for physically preventing the gate from being loaded in the valve mechanism unless the gate has a prescribed orientation with respect to the loading path into the valve mechanism.
Abstract: A conveyor system for use in a continuous proofing and baking apparatus to convey ferromagnetic dough receptacles comprising an elongate track with a conveyor chain mounted in the track and a plurality of product supporting grid assemblies on the chain where each grid assembly includes a support frame mounted on the chain and a plurality of magnet units mounted on the support frame for selected movement between two positions to magnetically mount different types of the ferromagnetic dough receptacles.
Abstract: A plant support structure including a base support, an elongate staff member, a trunk attachment arrangement for releasably and flexibly connecting the projecting of said staff member to the trunk of the plant, and a mounting block for mounting the staff member on the base support so that the longitudinal axis of the angles inwardly over the base support for attachment to the plant above its center of mass to stabilize the plant.
Abstract: Method and apparatus for mechanically and individually removing the heart and liver from poultry viscera still attached to the poultry carcass being transported through the poultry plant by an overhead conveyor and cleaning the heart after removal.

Abstract: A brake for in-line roller skates with an articulated mounting on the roller skate frame that movably mounts a roller for selective engagement with rear roller skate wheel on the skate and a ground engaging brake pad arrangement the serves to actuate mounting to move the roller into contact with the roller skate wheel and apply a braking force to the skate wheel and the skate itself.
Abstract: A combination postcard/container insulator with a substantially rectilinear sheet of flexible insulating material to wrap around the container and fasteners to maintain the sheet wrapped around the container yet are mailable.
Abstract: Apparatus for cleaning clinging residual material from a conveyor belt including a ribbed cleaning roll supported rotatably adjacent to a surface of a conveyor belt to be cleaned by mounting assemblies on opposite sides of the conveyor belt. A drive motor for rotating the ribbed cleaning roll is mounted to one of the mounting assemblies by a motor mount which includes an alignment mechanism for selectively locating the drive motor along three perpendicular axes for movement to coaxially align the motor and the cleaning roll.
Abstract: A self contained urinary catheter assembly for use in draining the bladder through the urethra comprising a flexible receptacle defining a closed chamber therein; a mounting on the receptacle with a catheter opening therethrough to the closed chamber; and a catheter carried in the closed chamber in the flexible receptacle to be selectively extended out of the chamber through the catheter opening during use and retracted after use. The catheter may be selectively released from the chamber and opening so that uncontaminated urine samples may be removed from the closed chamber.
Abstract: An attachment wire construction for attaching bone together, including an elongated wire having a leading end defining a drill tip. The wire has an anular breakneck groove that forms a reduced diameter frangible section. The leading end of the wire is externally threaded along the length of the wire.
Abstract: A shooting control system for bows and arrows that cooperates with front sight pins including a bowstring sight having a base mounted in the strands of the bowstring and sight inserts selectively mounted on the base for the user to sight through using the front sight pins to aim an arrow being shot in the bow. The system also includes an arrow nok on the bowstring at the arrow noking point.
Abstract: The method of the invention comprises the steps of locating the integrated circuit so that the projecting ends of the pins thereon are in juxtaposition with the corresponding connector pads on the printed circuit board; and applying solder to the connector pads with a heated soldering tool moving over the pads and touching the projecting ends of the pins on the integrated circuit without overlying the pins to solder the projecting ends of the pins to the connector pads. The method of the invention further comprises the step of applying a soldering flux to the pins and connector pads prior to applying the solder with the soldering iron. After the soldering operation is complete, the flux is removed with a flux remover. If the connector pads are new, a base solder is applied to the connector pads prior to placement of the integrated circuit on the printed circuit board.
