Abstract: A heat pump method and system with a pair of solid adsorbent beds connected to a heat pump loop and a reversible heat transfer loop. The heat transfer loop has a heater connected between one end of the beds and a cooling heat exchange connects the other end of the beds so that a heat transfer fluid flowing around the heat transfer loop heats one bed and cools the other.

Abstract: A bundling device for bundling elongate articles such as firewood with plastic film including a wood support for fixedly supporting the articles to be bundled, a film support to support a roll of the plastic film to be wrapped around the articles and a drive for rotating the film support around the articles on the wood support to wrap the film around the wood carried on the wood support. The film support includes a brake to maintain tension in the film as it is being wrapped around the articles and which increases the tension in the film when it is desired to break the film after the articles have been wrapped.
Abstract: A heat pump system with three heat exchangers, two of which are connected through a reversible expander and the third of which is connected to both of the first mentioned exchangers through an expander and check valve arrangement for refrigerant to flow from the third to either of the first two heat exchangers but not vice versa. A flow control valve selectively connects the other side of either of the first two heat exchangers to the suction side of the compressor while selectively connecting the other side of any one of the heat exchangers to the high pressure side of the compressor to form a refrigeration loop including two of the heat exchangers. Refrigerant flow through the heat exchanger not being used is blocked.

Abstract: Apparatus for loading articles into trays where the articles are first separated into rows with a divider assembly, then separated into groups with a grouper assembly and then pushed onto a dead plate to form a load. Different divider and grouper assemblies are provided to make different load configurations. A tray blank is moved under the dead plate and pushed out from under the dead plate synchronously with the movement of the article load over the dead plate so that the article load is deposited on the tray blank. Thereafter, the flaps on the tray blank are folded to erect the tray around the group of articles. Mechanical folding mechanisms are provided to fold certain of the flaps on the tray without folding the other flaps. The method of loading the articles in the tray and forming the tray around the articles is also disclosed.

Abstract: The invention provides a loading finger for a drop loading mechanism which finger incorporates a guide plate. In a drop loading grid set the loading fingers define passageways through which bottles are dropped into the cells of cartons. In order to protect the partitions between adjacent carton cells during drop-loading, opposed loading fingers which are located in adjacent passageways have guide plates which include upper portions overlapped with one another above the uppermost edge of a carton partition during drop loading and include lower portions which are spaced apart one on either side of and below the uppermost edge of a carton partition.
Abstract: A syringe injector for injecting liquids into patients comprising a syringe barrel with a slidable piston therein and a driver slidably extending into the barrel bore from the open end thereof behind the piston, where the driver includes a power supply and drive means operated by the power supply to cause at least a portion of the driver to move relative to the barrel to engage and propel the piston toward the discharge opening in the syringe barrel.

Abstract: A welding gauge for an insert ring on the end of a pipe with a first slide member defining a pipe engaging gauging surface and with a second slide member slidably mounted on a first slide member along a path perpendicular to the path of the gauging surface. The second slide member has a ring engaging recess which projects out over the gauging surface to hold the welding ring in place on the end of a pipe. The slide members can be locked together in any position for adjustment.

Abstract: A double feed detector to detect the feeding of multiple sheets into processing equipment such as printing presses which includes a reciprocally mounted gauge tube with a passage opening onto its opposite ends so that one of its ends is lowered into a gauging position over a support surface on which the sheets being fed are located. A pressurized air supply is connected to the gauge tube intermediate its ends and a cap closes that end of the passage opposite the end at the support surface so that, when more than one sheet is located on the support surface, the rise in air pressure in the gauge tube will urge the cap against a switch to stop the sheet feed to the processing equipment.
Abstract: A multi-unit package with a paperboard tray carrying a plurality of articles over which extends a flexible film sheet whose opposite ends overlap the upstanding side walls of the tray. The overlapping ends of the film sheet are bonded to the tray by their own substance under heat and pressure. The film sheet may be heat shrunk to keep it taut.
Abstract: Apparatus for making cell forming inserts for bottle carriers using a continuous web of paperboard. Drive rolls pull the web under tension through a slitter mechanism to slit strips from opposite edges of the web. The slit strips are shifted laterally inwardly over the web by guides and glued back on the web so that, when the web is transversely severed to form the inserts and attached to the bottle carrier blank, the strips will lie between the bottle contact points at the center cell.
