Abstract: A segmental annular tire safety support for mounting on a wheel rim to support a pneumatic tire in the deflated condition. The safety support includes a segmental curved member having a generally cylindrical radially outer supporting surface of revolution with a substantially constant radius circumferentially of the tire safety support. The ends of the curved member have radially outer end surfaces which are relatively flat and are spaced from the axis of the support a distance less than the length of the radius of the outer supporting surface of the curved member to reduce the stresses generated at the end edges and to provide warning vibrations and noise during operation of the tire in the deflated condition.

Abstract: An instant-processing film unit of the preregistered type is adapted for use in commercially available adapters for professional type cameras. The film unit includes a photosensitive element for recording a processable latent image, a cover sheet for facilitating the distribution of a processing composition over the element, and an internal dark slide removably positioned between the photosensitive element and cover sheet for shielding one side of the element from premature exposure. The dark slide extends from between the photosensitive element and cover sheet through an opening at one end of the film unit, and is provided with an opaque hood which is attached to the dark slide and encloses the opening to protect such end from light leaks.
Abstract: A preregistered, instant-processing film unit including an internal dark slide removeable from an end section of the unit and a light seal for preventing daylight fogging of the unit from said end section. The film unit includes a photosensitive element for recording a processable latent image. A cover sheet is connected to the photosensitive element and the dark slide is removeably positioned between the element and sheet. The light seal includes a strip coupled to the photosensitive element and folded into the dark slide so that the strip is released by the act of removing the dark slide.
Abstract: An instant-processing film unit of the preregistered, integral type includes an internal dark slide which protects the unit from exposure prior to use. The film unit includes a photosensitive element and a cover sheet between which the dark slide is removeably positioned to shield one side of the photosensitive element from light. Exposure from the other side is prevented by an opaque layer in the element itself. When used with an opaque processing composition, the unit can be handled in daylight, without fogging, both before and after exposure. The film unit is adapted for use in commercially available adapters for professional type cameras.

Abstract: A closed loop apparatus for spraying coolant against the back of a radiation target. The coolant is circulated through a closed loop with a bubble of inert gas being maintained around the spray. Mesh material is disposed between the bubble and the surface of the liquid coolant which is below the bubble at a predetermined level. In a second embodiment no inert gas is used, the bubble consisting of vapor produced when the coolant is sprayed against the target.

Abstract: To capture fine particulate matter in a gas such as air, a dielectric fluid is directed to the center of whichever face of a rotating disc is exposed to the air flow. The disc is comprised of two or more segments which bear opposite electrostatic potentials. As the dielectric fluid is centrifuged towards the periphery of the rotating disc, the fluid becomes charged to the same potential as the segment over which it is passing. Particulate matter is attracted to the charged segment and is captured by the fluid. The fluid then carries the captured particulate matter to a collection device such as a toroidal container disposed around the periphery of the disc. A grounded electrically-conductive ring may be disposed at the outer periphery of the disc to neutralize the captured particles and the fluid before they enter the container.

Abstract: In a typical phase-locked loop oscillator circuit including a voltage controlled oscillator and a reference frequency source, from each of which a signal is derived and the phases of these two signals are compared in a phase detector, the output of which is applied through a loop filter to a frequency modulation input of the voltage controlled oscillator, so that the frequency of the voltage controlled oscillator is precisely controlled by the reference frequency; an improvement which comprises a maximum permitted phase error between the two inputs to the phase detector, and a phase error corrector circuit which, in response to the presence of a maximum permitted phase error, will shift the phase of one of the two signals applied to the phase detector relative to the source of that signal, such as to hold the phase error into the phase detector within the permitted maximum.
Abstract: A support member curved about an axis of revolution for mounting on a wheel rim inside a tire chamber to support the tire in a deflated condition. The support member has a generally U-shaped cross section and may have open ends or the ends may be closed with webs having edges joining the radially inner and outer peripheral edges of the support member.A relatively lightweight high-strength material such as reinforced plastic may be used in the construction of the support member with relatively long fibers of reinforcing material extending generally in planes containing the axis of revolution and relatively short fibers of reinforcing material extending generally circumferentially of the support member and in planes perpendicular to the axis of revolution. Heat-conducting material in the form of wire screen or short lengths of wire may be embedded in the support member to conduct heat away from the surface engaged by a deflated tire.
Abstract: An enclosed container having a divided chamber with an air pressure section and a liquid coolant section separated by a pressure-transmitting wall. A one-way inflation valve in the container is in communication with the air pressure section for inflation of this section. A liquid release valve in the container is in communication with the liquid coolant section and is set to release liquid into a tire cavity when the tire is operated in a deflated condition. The container is of a resilient, noncollapsible material for retaining air under pressure and for gripping the rim on which the tire is mounted.

Abstract: Rubbery bladders are produced by rotational casting a liquid polymer composition containing (1) an epoxy resin, (2) a liquid carboxyl-terminated polymer, (3) an amine, (4) a dihydric compound, and (5) a plasticizer. In order to obtain the desired flex and tear properties, the equivalent ratio of the other reactants to epoxy must be from about 0.70 to about 1.15. The valve area of the bladder is reinforced with a spun bonded fabric.
Abstract: A frequency scan antenna utilizing either parallel or series beam spoiling for increasing the radar beam width and increasing the data rate is disclosed. As a radar beam is scanned from the horizon to a maximum altitude or angle above the horizon, the beam width is broadened or spoiled, thereby allowing a higher data rate collection and storage. A first embodiment according to the present invention utilizes coaxial cables of incrementally varying lengths connecting the delay line with an array of parallel line source radiators. The cables having the minimum length are connected at the extreme radiators while the maximum length cables are connected at the center line source radiators. The wavefront is bowed and a greater sector in space may be scanned. A second embodiment of the present invention utilizes a delay line with unequal tap spacings which is series coupled to the array of line source radiators.
