  • Patent number: 5287712
Abstract: The locking arrangement consists of key a and lock cylinder with a guide cross section provided on the rear of the key shank and with profiled longitudinal ribs arranged on the broad face for entry into associated grooves of the lock cylinder key channel. Transversely to the profiled longitudinal ribs, there are provided wards which issue from one narrow edge of the key shank and, in their depth, follow the unit or multiple of the step jump (x) of the lock cylinder core pins. At least the lower rib flank facing the narrow edge of the key shank is perpendicular to the longitudinal center plane of the key shank and the distance of the lower rib flanks from one another is equal.

  • Patent number: 5288183
Abstract: A self-centering twist drill bit 20 is formed with a "fishtail" cutting section 32 having major cutting lips 72 and 74 on a working end 26 thereof at a point angle of 190.degree.. Tip relief surfaces 76 and 78 trail cutting lips 72 and 74. A pilot tip 38 on the working end 26 extends axially from the "fishtail" cutting section 32 and is formed with a split point having leading cutting edges 40 and 42 and minor cutting lips 46 and 48. Outer surfaces 58 and 60 of pilot tip 38 are each formed with a radial relief and a back taper and joins with cutting section 32 along fillets 92 and 100 which are also radially relieved.

  • Patent number: 5269162
Abstract: A cylindrical lock assembly (20) includes an inside subassembly (22) and an outside subassembly (24) which are assembled with a door (326). Each subassembly (22,24) includes a rose liner (26,38), a return spring cassette (28,40), a rose (30,42), a lever (32,46) and a lever insert (34,48). The inside subassembly (22) also includes a turn button (36) and the outside subassembly (24) includes a cylinder lock (44).Cylinder lock (44) includes a plug (114) within a shell (112). A rib (122) for supporting tumbler pins (428) is formed with the shell. An identifier actuator (456) is depressed by a tailpiece (116) when a turn button (36) is operated to lock the assembly (20). When the actuator (456) is depressed, an identifier pin (436) is moved within the plug (114) and extends partially from the front of the plug to signify that the assembly (20) has been locked from the inside.

  • Patent number: 5259090
Abstract: A door closer (20) is attachable to a door (24) and is formed with a chamber (44) in which a piston element (50) is movable to move fluid from the chamber to a reservoir (82) upon opening of the door. After the door (24) has been opened to a position, for example, of sixty to seventy-five degrees, continued opening of the door causes the fluid to be compressed within the chamber (44) and to be directed only through a back check valve (95) to the reservoir (82). This results in the development of an adjustable "back check" condition to provide a counterforce to the continued opening of the door. The adjustable valve (95) includes a spring biased ball (144), the biasing of which must be overcome by the force of the fluid being compressed in the chamber (44) to allow for fluid to pass through the valve to the reservoir (82).

  • Patent number: 5248928
Abstract: A charger 10 includes facility, such as a capacitor 14, for establishing a constant current source which is rectified by rectifier 16 to provide a supply of charging current at a single level in each of two successive periods of a charging cycle. The output of rectifier 16 is coupled through a SCR 26 to a battery B to be charged. Under control of a timer 28, SCR 26 remains conductive for a prescribed continuous period to facilitate the supply of the single-level charging current to battery B during a full charge or first period mode at a 100% duty cycle. At the end of the prescribed first period, a timer 36 then controls the on-off operation of SCR 26 to facilitate the supply of the single-level charging current during a trickle charge mode at a 20% duty cycle.

  • Patent number: 5236229
Abstract: A flange assembly (24) includes a cover (26), a base (28) and a compliant gasket (30) all of which are of circular configuration with a central opening. Gasket (30) is assembled within a nest formed by tapered surface (52) and rim (50) of base (28). Cover (26) is assembled with base (28) by the snap fit of inwardly turned edge (38) of the cover into annular groove (56) of the base. In this position, an inwardly turned lip (34) of cover (26) engages a ledge (70) of gasket (28) to retain the gasket within the nest. A section (78) of gasket (28) extends into a central opening of flange assembly (24) and includes a tapered inner side wall (62) which frictionally engages a conduit (20) of a faucet as the flange assembly is slid onto the conduit. Conduit (20) compresses section (78) of gasket (28) which includes side wall (62 ) into the nest where the forces of the compressed gasket retain flange assembly (24) with the conduit.
