Abstract: A process of forming a prosthetic implant component, such as the femoral component of a knee replacement prosthesis. The process comprises the steps of: (i) forming a prosthetic component having a shape at least approximating the desired final shape of the component from a metal alloy; (ii) subjecting the component to a relatively elevated temperature and pressure followed by a cooling regime; (iii) machining the surface of the component; (iv) polishing the surface of the component.
Abstract: A vertebral column implant includes a connecting element, which is insertable in the vertebral bodies of a vertebral column via several bone screws. The screws are each provided with a head part for receiving the connecting element, by means of which a firm connection is achievable between bone screws and connecting element. The connecting element is composed of rigid sections and elastic sections. The rigid sections are connectable to the elastic sections via connecting devices. The connecting devices are designed such that the rigid sections and the elastic sections, in each case connected to one another, are aligned substantially coaxially, and their connection is form-fitting.
Abstract: A winch for elevating at a plant, in particular for cranes, cable-operated excavators, and similar construction machinery, has a hoisting drum, an electric motor for the drive of the hoisting drum which is received in the interior of the hoisting drum, and power electronics and/or control electronics for the electric motor including at least one frequency inverter and/or frequency converter. The power electronics and/or control electronics for the electric motor are received at least partly in the interior of the hoisting drum. With the compact construction of the winch, short cabling distances are achieved, interference emissions having negative effects on electromagnetic compatibility are avoided, and voltage overshoots impairing the service life of the inverter and the motor are reduced.

Abstract: A compound comprising at least a structural entity which binds secretory phospholipase A2 IIA (sPLA2 IIA) or parts of it and more preferably human sPLA2 IIA and which a.) blocks at least one or more sPLA2 IIA function on cell surfaces or in a solution, preferably blood or other body fluids or from tissues, most preferably in vivo, b.) and/or depletes sPLA2 IIA from a solution, preferably blood or other body fluids or from tissues, most preferably in vivo.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a reception method for an online print ordering system. In the reception method, the case in which a single image file includes various types of print entities is determined to be normal and then composition files are enabled to be created for the respective entities, thereby improving the efficiency of the print ordering system and customers' convenience of use.

Abstract: Method for non-destructive inspection of defects in a surface of a pipeline or storage tank. The method includes carrying out a first way of non-destructive inspection for determining a first defect pattern and carrying out a second way of non-destructive inspection for determining a second defect pattern. The method includes identifying at least one defect of the first defect pattern and at least one defect of the second defect pattern which represent one and the same defect, and comparing the dimensions and optionally also the positions of the identified defects so as to obtain a difference in dimensions and optionally also in the positions. The method also includes obtaining a plurality of such differences and obtaining at least one parameter representing said differences, and correcting the dimensions and optionally also the positions of defects of the first defect pattern by using the at least one parameter.

Abstract: A quakeproof plinth is adapted to make a showpiece mount vertically go down without a tilt so as to cushion and shelter a showpiece seated thereon from impact force exerted on the entire showpiece. A plinth (100) of the present invention is comprised of a showpiece mount (110), a supporting member (120) capable of supporting the showpiece mount so as to move the same upward and downward, basement shock absorbers (130) enabling the showpiece mount to be shock-absorbingly bumped down thereon, a vibration detector (140), and an actuating device (150) activated to move the showpiece mount downward in response to a detection signal produced from the vibration detector.
Abstract: Device (5) for filtering blood including a filter unit (7) having a blood filter, an inlet (8) for blood to be filtered and being connectable to an artery of a patient and a blood outlet (9) for filtered blood and being connectable to a vein of the patient, and having a filtrate container (6,14), that encloses the filter unit (7), for receiving filtrate (12) passing through the blood filter during a filtering process and that the filtrate container (6,14) is a closed container, which in a filled state is arranged to establish a counter-pressure over the blood filter, whereby the filtering process is interrupted. The invention also concerns a system including the above device.
Abstract: The invention provides a gas hydrate production apparatus which can eliminate the need for an agitator in a generator, and at the same time, can make constant the percentage of gas hydration of the product. A shell-and-tube-type generator 2 is provided downstream of an ejector-type mixer 1 that stirs and mixes a raw-material gas g and a raw-material water w. In addition, partition walls 41 to 43 each causing a gas hydrate slurry to turn around are provided in each of end plates 37 and 38 placed respectively in the front and rear ends of the generator 2. Moreover, a dehydrator 3 including a cone-shaped filter 48 is provided downstream of the generator 2, and a drainage pipe 11 is provided to the dehydrator 3. Further, a flow regulating valve 12 is provided to the drainage pipe 11.
Abstract: An electronic mouse trap is provided having multiple kill and automatic killing chamber clearing capabilities. The trap includes an elevated killing chamber rotatably mounted on a base that houses a collection bin positioned under the chamber and which has an entrance pathway that provides mice with access to the chamber. Upon completion of a killing cycle and the killing of a mouse, the chamber is automatically rotated by a gear motor about a longitudinal axis that is slightly below the floor of the chamber. The chamber rotates approximately 180 degrees so as to be inverted, allowing the dead mouse to fall downwardly into the collection bin. Once the chamber has been inverted and the mouse removed by gravity, the gear motor reverses the rotation direction and returns the chamber to its upright position where it is ready to reinitiate the killing cycle for another mouse.

Abstract: Provided is a matched filter whose circuit scale can be made significantly smaller by reducing the number of multipliers for a despreading process and the number of adders for an accumulating process. For each in-phase/orthogonal component, the matched filter includes a dual-port RAM that separates written samples into 128 groups each of 32 samples which are collectively read out group by group in order at a speed faster than a write speed in write mode, a bit separating section that separates data read group by group into 32 samples and simultaneously outputs the 32 samples, and 32 despreading/accumulating circuits that, with 16 samples sequentially input from 16 groups being taken as one block, sequentially despread individual samples, accumulate despreading results, and output accumulated values for each block.
