  • Patent number: 6527952
Abstract: Nestable canisters for use in a dispersal valve that normally holds only a single canister with the nestable canisters suitable for replacing single canisters to enable a fluid mixing stream to be bifurcated and simultaneously but separately treat the water with different materials. The fluid mixing stream which normally flows through the set of ports that are used for dispensing only one solid chemical into the liquid stream flowing through the dispersal valve is bifurcated to provide for both dispersant type bacteria killing as well as in situ bacteria killing. In addition the nestable canisters are provided with an improved bactericide and algaecide for killing algae in the water and absorbing acids that might be generated by use of chlorine in the dispersal valve.

  • Patent number: 6513570
Abstract: An apparatus and method for pressure casting a battery part wherein the state of molten lead is monitored so that when the molten lead enters a liquid-to-solid transformation stage, the volume of the mold available for the lead to solidify therein is quickly reduced through a volume contraction step to thereby cause the molten lead to flow into the remaining volume at the same time one maintains pressure on the molten lead. As the molten lead solidifies under the reduced volume and high pressure it produces a battery part that is substantially free of both tears and cracks. In an alternate method, the lead is allowed to solidify and at least a portion of the lead is mechanically deformed through a volume contraction step to cause cracks or tears in the battery part to be eliminated thereby providing a battery part free of cracks or tears.

  • Patent number: 6510865
Abstract: A hollow tap having an axially outward extending cutting tooth so that when the cutting tooth is brought into rotational pressure engagement with a resilient tubing the cutting tooth cuts a hole partially through the resilient tubing leaving a coupon hingedly but securely attached to the resilient tubing to maintain the coupon in an out-of-the-way condition within the resilient tubing. Continued rotation of the tap within a saddle brings a sealing surface on the cutting tube into fluid tight seal with the resilient tubing to provide a branch outlet to the resilient tubing though the tap.

  • Patent number: 6462923
Abstract: A coaxial drop cable safety device is used for cable television, data and telephony applications. The device is used on buried drop cable where 60 Hz powering voltages applied to the drop cable exceed low voltage safety limits and where the drop cable is buried at depths which is less than the minimum required to meet electrical safety codes. Tap end and premise end units are connected to the drop cable. The tap end unit applies a DC voltage to the center conductor of the drop cable. A monitoring circuit in the tap end unit monitors the DC current in the center conductor. The tap unit will immediately remove the powering voltage in the event of either an open or faulted condition on the center conductor along the entire length of the drop cable. Additionally, while providing fault protection for the low frequency powering circuit due to tampering or damage to the cable, the fault monitoring circuit allows the high frequency television, data and telephony signals to pass with little or no impediment.

  • Patent number: 6441822
Abstract: A method of generation of smoothly shaped, non-circular, curves by formation of multiple circular arcs. In the method, one draws a first circular arc which passes through two points and is tangent to a first line extending from a first point in the indicated direction. Next, one repeats the process by drawing a second circular arc which passes through one of the aforementioned two points and a third point and is tangent to an extending line. By utilizing of a common point for each of the two circular arcs one can generate a smooth, non-circular, curve from the end blending of the two circular arcs. By moving or deleting points, or by adding points, or by changing the defined directed tangent line, or by defining a directed tangent line at a different point, one can reconfigure the curve into the desired final curve. Several curves can be combined to generate a desired figure.
