Abstract: A method of making a two-stage twist-on wire connector comprising the steps of forming a housing; placing a spiral thread on an interior of the housing with the spiral thread having an open end and a closed end with a diameter of the open end of the spiral thread larger than the diameter of the closed end, the spiral thread diametrically converging in an axial direction toward the closed end; inserting a lubricant into the closed end of the spiral thread; inserting a plurality of wire ends to be splice into the open end of the spiral thread; twisting the plurality of wires and the wire connector to draw the plurality of wire ends proximate the closed end of the spiral thread to improve the continuity of said the splice; and applying the lubricant to the spiral threads by the twisting engagement of the wires with respect to the spiral threads.
Abstract: An anchoring marker post comprising a hollow elongated member, the elongated member composed of a flexibly resilient polymer plastic and having a first end and a second end, integrally attached to the elongated member is a set of anchoring flaps, the anchoring flaps located proximate the second end of the elongated member, attaching each of the anchoring flaps to the elongated member is a flexible living hinge, the flexible living hinge allowing the anchoring flaps to be moveable from a first closed position to facilitate the handling and transportation of the marker post to a second open position to prevent the withdrawal of the elongated member from an embedded position.
Abstract: A heater formed of multiple layers with at least two envelope layers sealed to each other to form a closed envelope and with at least one of the layers within the sealed envelope layers comprising a gas permeable internal ground member that permit one to heat seal the envelope layers to each other and prevents destruction of the heater if the heater accidentally exceeds a critical operating temperature.
Abstract: A water treatment device, method and system with the water treatment device having a container for holding a water treatment material therein with the water treatment device including a shroud extending in a direction generally normal to a flow of debris laden water with the shroud inhibiting direct flow of debris into a water inlet in the water treatment device by directing water and debris over the shroud and around the water treatment device while a portion of the water can be directed laterally into the water treatment material within the water treatment device to thereby purify the water that flows over the water treatment materials with the water treatment device including multiple spaced and positioned water inlets so that the likelihood of the water inlet being completely obstructed is remote.
Abstract: For removably coupling a boat apparatus, such as a boat table or seat, to a boat deck, a base plate having an arcuate or curved clamping slot is attached to the boat deck and the table or the like is securely coupled to a base assembly having a downward extending clamping device. The base assembly is placed on the base plate with the clamping device engaged in the clamping slot and the base assembly is then twisted or turned so that the clamping device slides to the end of the slot and a member on the base assembly is then manually operated to releasably clamp the clamping device securely in place in the associated slot.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for enhanced gravity casting wherein a portion of the mold is maintained in pressure contact with molten metal as it solidifies to allow the mold surface to follow the contraction of the solidifying metal. A further feature of the invention is the use of an air clearance between mold parts that is sufficient to allow air to escape but insufficient to allow molten metal to flow therepast.
Abstract: A furniture frame and a furniture frame bracket wherein the furniture frame bracket comprises a bracket main body having a surface for engaging a portion of a furniture frame and a leg for supporting a linkage between a first section and a second section of a furniture frame.
Abstract: A limit switch having a housing carrying one or more components that are individually field replaceable by an operator so that an operator can make an on-the-go field repair any faulty component in the limit switch. The field replaceable components can be frictionally or mechanically secured by a finger operable latch or the like so that an operator can remove and quickly replace a faulty component while the limit switch is connected a pneumatic conveying system or the like.
Abstract: A shock adapter for converting a one-way shock absorber into a two-way shock absorber comprising a housing having a first slideable member located on one end and a second slideable member located on the opposite end with the housing having a chamber therein for receiving and supporting a one-way shock absorber in a condition that allows movement of the housing of the one-way shock absorber in one direction when subject to a first force and the movement of the slideable member of the one-way shock absorber when subject to a second force in a direction opposite to the first force.
Abstract: There is an anchor for securing a working line (54) to a structure. The anchor includes a sole plate (2) with an attachment (19) for the working line (54). There is at least one friction plate (5) and a connector strap (4). In use of the anchor the sole plate (2) and friction plate (5) are located against respective opposite sides of a rafter (3) of the structure and are linked together by the strap (4) in a manner such that the working line load on the sole plate (2) generates a clamping force between the sole plate (2) and the friction plate (5). This force resists movement of the anchor by gripping only the outside of the rafter (3).
Abstract: An actuator having a set of slidable pistons including sliding regions with the sliding regions including at least one wear member supported by a resilient member and a second wear member laterally spaced from the first wear member with a lubrication reservoir located therebetween for maintaining the wear members in lubricated sliding engagement with the cylindrical walls of the housing to limit the need to replace or repair the actuator. In order to provide ingress and egress of fluid from the chambers within the actuator a channel passage extends along the back side of the extension of the piston to permit quick venting of fluid therefrom.
Abstract: A cervical pillow and a method of making the pillow comprising a pillow casing a pillow-filling and a cervical support member disposed therein, the pillow-filling forming a head support region and the cervical support member forming a neck support region wherein the neck support region has a greater compression resiliency than the head support region allowing the neck support region to resist against compression and remain a viable source for supporting a user's neck as the head support region compressively supports the user's head thereon. The cervical support member comprises a cylindrical shaped body having tapering ends, and is retained in the pillow casing in a position spaced from the side edges of the pillow.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for delivering both quick dispensing water treatment materials and slow dispensing water treatment materials from the same dispensing unit by dispensing the slow dispensing water treatment materials over an extended period of time and the quick dispensing water treatment materials in a matter of minutes to allow the container for the quick dispensing water treatment materials to be removed and replaced with either a container containing a different quick dispensing water treatment materials or a container containing a slow dispensing water treatment material and a closed container for holding a quick dispensing water treatment materials therein and for dispensing the quick dispensing water treatment material therefrom through a process of cross circulation between a fluid stream of waster and the quick dispensing water treatment material in the container.
Abstract: A mold and a method of casting a part wherein the casting surfaces of the mold including the nooks and crannies of the mold are bounded by pitted mold surfaces with the pitted mold surfaces having surface voids therein that are sufficiently small to prevent the molten metal to enter therein; however, when the molten metal is poured in the mold having the pitted surfaces the molten metal solidifies on top of the pitted surface without entering into the pits in the mold surface, yet at the same time the molten metal flows smoothly over all the mold surfaces including the structural nooks and crannies of the mold to form a cast product that is substantially free of voids and fissures.
Abstract: A mold that has an expandable mold cavity that is maintained at a first volume during an injection phase and expands to a second volume during the solidification phase to inhibit or prevent the formation of voids or cracks in a material that expands during the solidification process and a method whereby the pressure within a mold cavity during the solidification process is limited to inhibit or prevent formation of cracks or fissures in a cast article that normally expands during solidification.
