  • Patent number: 7708434
Abstract: A proposed method to illuminate optimally, or at least in an improved fashion compared with existing solutions, a road taken by a vehicle in question implementing the method whilst ensuring that other vehicles are not dazzled. To this end, it is not proposed in the invention to detect the distance between the vehicle in question and the first vehicle liable to be dazzled by the vehicle in question, and to generate accordingly a light beam optimized in terms of range on the road, and advantageously light intensity; according to the invention, the optimization of the light beam produced is achieved by the use of the motorway function available on the vehicle in question. The use of this function in this context also ensures a gradual transition between the function of the dipped type and the function of the main-beam type in the context of automatic switching operations between these functions.

  • Patent number: 7685773
Abstract: A sliding window assembly includes two rectangular sash frames each enclosing an insulated glass panel unit and supported by a surrounding main support frame. At least one of the sash frames is supported for horizontal movement, and horizontally extending interlocking members are formed on the adjacent upper and lower horizontal frame members of the sash frame and main support frame. The interlocking members have interfitting horizontal hook portions positioned to permit each movable sash frame to move freely between a closed position and an open position. The interfitting hook portions are effective to engage and interlock each other in response to a substantial positive or negative windload or such a windload after an impact which breaks the glass panel unit, to limit deflection and prevent permanent deformation or release of the sash frame.

  • Patent number: 7676881
Abstract: The invention relates to an adapter for adapting a main bracket of a wiper blade to the coupling section of a wiper arm of a wiper mechanism. Said adapter comprises an insertion pin, which is held at one end and which is provided for being laterally inserted into a locating opening on the main bracket, whereby said locating opening extends transversal to the wiper blade longitudinal axis. The adapter also comprises a cylindrical cavity which is provided on the insertion pin, has an insertion opening and which serves to accommodate a pivot pin of the coupling section of the wiper arm. A first bearing section is provided in the area of the insertion opening and is provided for resting against the area of the coupling section that holds the pivot pin. The adapter has a second bearing section located on the side opposite the insertion opening and is provided for resting against the stop of a projection of the coupling section, whereby said projection overlaps, at least in sections, the adapter when mounted.

  • Patent number: 7662172
Abstract: The pedicle screw system may be used for fixation of spinal segments and may be advantageous when minimally invasive surgery (MIS) techniques are employed. The pedicle screw system includes a tulip assembly comprising of a tulip body, a inner member, and an expansion member. Installation of the pedicle screw system into pedicles of the spine, for example, includes inserting the pedicle screw into a portion of the spine and then coupling the tulip assembly to the pedicle screw. The tulip assembly may be locked onto the pedicle screw before a distraction rod is placed in the tulip assembly. After the rod is placed in the tulip assembly, the tulip body and the inner member can be rotated relative to one another to lock the rod into the tulip assembly. In addition, the relative rotation may also provide additional locking of the tulip assembly to the pedicle screw.

  • Patent number: 7661860
Abstract: The invention relates to a lighting and/or signalling device for a motor vehicle for lighting in a longitudinal emission direction. The lighting and/or signalling device has: at least one light source emitting light rays; and at least one light guiding sheet in which the light rays issuing from the light source spread by successive reflections, such that the guide sheet comprises at one end a reflective layer so as to redirect the light rays into the at least one sheet, and in that an output contour the sheet, at the end remote from the reflective layer, comprises a reflective profile, in particular inclined relative to the longitudinal axis of said sheet, so as to reflect the light rays reflected generally in an emission direction which is substantially parallel to said longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 7655028
Abstract: This invention relates to a spinal fusion system and method for use as a prosthetic implant. The system and method includes a housing dimensioned to be situated between adjacent spinal bones, such as adjacent vertebrae. The housing cooperates with the spinal bones to define a graft area for receiving graft material, which may be inserted anteriorly into the housing during a surgical operation such as a vertebrectomy or discectomy. A housing may have various features such as migration preventers to prevent the housing from migrating posteriorly towards a spinal column during or after insertion of the housing; a plurality of projections or crossbars may be removably inserted into the housing and can be used with a cover that permits the housing to “float” relative thereto.

  • Patent number: 7651150
Abstract: A motor vehicle window panel has a trim molding formed by an extruded body of plastics material, and the body includes a mounting flange, a locating flange and a vehicle body panel sealing flange. The mounting flange carries a pressure sensitive contact adhesive tape which bonds to an inner surface of the window panel after the locating flange engages an outer edge surface of the window panel. The body is preferably extruded with a weakened zone at the base of the locating flange to permit convenient tear removal of the locating flange either before or after the molding and window panel are attached to the vehicle body panel. The sealing flange may be extruded with a lower durometer material, and an internal reinforcement strip and a spacer flange may be extruded with the mounting flange.
