  • Patent number: 8047757
Abstract: A grain cart has a wheel supported frame on which is mounted an open top container having inclined bottom walls and including a single discharge auger conveyor having a lower section extending from a sump for the container adjacent a front left inclined corner portion of the container. The auger conveyor has an extended upper section supported by a hinge assembly having a pivot axis offset and askewed at an acute angle from the auger axis. The hinge assembly provides for pivoting the upper conveyor section between an inclined grain discharge position projecting upwardly, laterally outwardly and forwardly from the container and a stored position inclined downwardly at a substantial angle from the hinge assembly in front of the container. In the stored position, the grain discharge outlet is located lower than the top surfaces of the wheels and does not project laterally beyond the right side wall of the container.

  • Patent number: 8012185
Abstract: The pedicle screw system may be used for fixation of spinal segments and may be advantageous when minimally invasive surgery (MIS) techniques are employed. The pedicle screw system includes a tulip assembly comprising of a tulip body, a inner member, and an expansion member. Installation of the pedicle screw system into pedicles of the spine, for example, includes inserting the pedicle screw into a portion of the spine and then coupling the tulip assembly to the pedicle screw. The tulip assembly may be locked onto the pedicle screw before a rod is placed in the tulip assembly. After the rod is placed in the tulip assembly, the tulip body and the inner member can be rotated relative to one another to lock the rod into the tulip assembly. In addition, the relative rotation may also provide additional locking of the tulip assembly to the pedicle screw.

  • Patent number: 7993717
Abstract: A covering is provided for exterior or interior application on solid surfaces such as garage floors, patios, and walkways. The covering is formed as tiles formed of a top layer of fibrous material, such as carpet, and a bottom layer of adhesive applied in spaced bands, lines, strips or rows that allow the tile to be removed from the surface after installation if desired. A release sheet, preferably formed of plural pieces, is secured over the adhesive for removal during installation. A portion of the release sheet can function as a positioning strip to assist in accurately placing the tiles. The covering is manufactured by coating the bottom surface of a strip of material in beads of adhesive, smoothing the beads into bands, lines, strips or rows, and then cutting the strip into tiles using a non-mechanical cutter such as a laser.

  • Patent number: 7987878
Abstract: A fuel dispensing nozzle has a body defining a fuel supply passage and a vapor return passage each having a control valve operated by a hand actuated lever pivotally connected to an axially movable tubular member retained by a diaphragm actuated clutch. A fuel spout extends from the body and is surrounded by an annular plastic socket assembly to define therebetween a vapor return passage. The socket assembly includes a first socket member supporting an annular vapor seal for engaging a fuel tank fill tube. The first socket member is supported for universal free tilting movement by a second socket member supported by the body for axial movement. The second socket member supports a pin connected to a crank arm for blocking operation of the clutch, and an annular flexible cover surrounds the socket assembly to protect the socket members which provide unrestricted flow of fuel vapors.

  • Patent number: 7987052
Abstract: A method that utilizes at least a first camera and a second camera, which have optical axes that are parallel to a first axis of an orthogonal reference frame, the first and the second camera being positioned so as to have a first offset along a second axis and a second offset along a third axis of the orthogonal reference frame. The first offset is used to carry out a first stereoscopic calculation, and the second offset is used to carry out a second stereoscopic calculation, the distance sought finally being established by taking into consideration these two stereoscopic calculations.

  • Patent number: 7980173
Abstract: A hydraulic compactor system includes a portable container adapted to be transported by a truck and having a chamber for receiving a waste material to be compacted. The container has a self-contained compacting ram actuated by a hydraulic cylinder, and a remote hydraulic power supply unit is connected to the hydraulic cylinder by flexible hydraulic hoses. Each of the hoses is provided with a breakaway hydraulic coupling having two sections connected by tension releasable coupling means with the sections having spring biased valves which are open when the sections are coupled together and automatically close when the sections separate due to a predetermined tension force on the hoses. Each breakaway coupling compensates for increases in hydraulic fluid pressure to prevent separation of the coupling sections when the fluid pressure increases to actuate the hydraulic compacting cylinder.

  • Patent number: 7975444
Abstract: Adjacent precast reinforced concrete modules or members are secured together by a plurality of coupler systems each including a cast metal coupler body embedded in an edge portion of the first concrete member and connected by a coupling member to a reinforcing bar within the first concrete member. The coupler body has an internal cavity with a side opening and an end opening extending to the cavity, and reinforcing wings border the side opening. The second concrete member has another coupling member rigidly connected to an axially aligned reinforcing bar and includes an end portion with a threaded bore. A bolt is inserted into the cavity through the side opening, aligned with the end opening and then threaded into the bore where the bolt is tightened with a wrench extending into the cavity through the side opening. A reusable locating pin may be used to align the concrete members.

  • Patent number: 7975835
Abstract: Scrap metal pieces are conveyed from a mechanical press by a shaker conveyor having horizontal and parallel spaced elongated trays supported for reciprocating linear movement above a compact drive unit attached to and supported by the press. The drive unit includes an electric motor having a shaft connected to rotate an elliptical input gear on an eccentric axis and in continuous mesh with an elliptical output gear eccentrically connected to an output shaft. A rocker arm and link assembly is eccentrically connected to the output shaft and oscillates in response to rotation of the output shaft. The assembly is pivotally connected to a support carriage for the trays for reciprocating the trays with rapid acceleration and rapid deceleration at one end of the linear stroke of the carriage and trays. The elliptical input and output gears are identical in size and have the same odd number of teeth.

  • Patent number: 7975432
Abstract: A casement window assembly includes a rectangular sash frame enclosing an insulated glass panel unit and supported for swinging movement by a surrounding main window support frame. At least one set of interfitting and interlocking members are positioned in opposing relation on adjacent vertical members of the sash frame and support frame and have hook portions positioned to pass each other when the sash frame is pivoted between a closed position and an open position. The hook portions are effective to engage and hook each other in response to a substantial positive or negative windload or such windload applied after an impact breaks the glass to limit deflection and prevent permanent deformation of the sash frame. The hook portions also produce a snubbing action for compressing a flexible seal between the sash frame and support frame.

  • Patent number: 7963717
Abstract: A first tooling component is positively secured to a second tooling component by one or more quick change locking couplers each including a cylinder secured to the first tooling component and having peripherally spaced holes supporting balls for radial movement. A stud is secured to the second tooling component and has an enlarged head portion projecting into the cylinder. A cup-shaped piston surrounds the cylinder and has a recess for receiving the balls in a released position, and a housing supports the piston for axial movement between the released position and a locked position forcing the balls to engage the stud. A compression spring moves the piston to the locked position, and air pressure moves the piston to the released position. A proximity sensor is supported by the housing and detects the piston in the locked position to provide an electrical signal to a remote visual and/or audio indicator.
