  • Patent number: 4807942
Abstract: The hydraulic brake system with slip control comprises two master cylinder pistons for the operation of the vehicular brakes and in which hydraulic medium tapped from the wheel brake during slip control is returned to the wheel brakes from an auxiliary pressure source via a master cylinder piston gasket acting as check valves. The operating stroke of the master cylinder pistons is limitable by suitable pressurization of a positioning piston. An open connection between the working chambers of the master cylinder and a reservoir is provided, in the brake-released position, solely via the control valve so as to enable the brake circuits connected with the master cylinder to be pressurized right from the beginning of the braking action.

The pressure chamber (21) of the power booster (11) is pressurized by an auxiliary pressure which is dependent on the position of a pedal-actuated brake valve (19). A fast-fill cylinder (40) is can be pressurized by the dynamic pressure and with its aid the working chamber (16) of the master cylinder (12) can be supplied with additional pressure fluid in the initial phase of braking. The chamber (48) between the two piston steps (57, 58) of the fast-fill cylinder connects to the unpressurized supply reservoir (3) by way of a valve assembly (51) for synchronizing the movements of the master cylinder piston (43) and of the stepped piston (45) of the fast-fill cylinder (40). The valve assembly (51) is furnished with the wheel cylinder pressure as a control variable.

  • Patent number: 4805745
Abstract: A spot-type disc brake, especially for automotive vehicles, comprises a brake carrier and a brake housing having two radial legs and an interconnecting bridge so as to straddle the rim of a brake disc. Brake pads disposed on either side of the brake disc, with the brake housing being disposed in axially displaceable manner on the brake carrier and actuable by an actuating device. To avoid a screw connection on the outer brake pad, for attaching a brake pad to the adjacent leg of the brake housing, at least one attachment element engages, in a locking manner, ports of the leg and of the brake pad. A spring is secured to the brake pad by way of which the brake pad is resiliently in abutment with bearing points provided on the brake housing.

  • Patent number: 4803840
Abstract: A hydraulic brake system is described including a tandem master cylinder whose working chambers are connected by separate brake lines to pressure control valves of a brake slip control apparatus, having the wheel brakes connected downstream of the control valves. A pump unit including a pump communicates with the brake lines through pressure lines and non-return valves. Upon activation of the brake slip control apparatus, the drive of the pump is activated whereupon the pump feeds pressure fluid by way of the non-return valves into the brake line and the working chamber of the master cylinder. The fluid is under a pressure which is in excess of the maximum braking pressure attainable by actuation of the tandem master cylinder. For the purpose of pressure control, the tandem master cylinder includes central valves designed as control valves, by virtue of which the pressure in the working chambers is kept at the pressure level predetermined by an actuating force at the brake pedal.

  • Patent number: 4802257
Abstract: This invention describes a wiper blade with a substantially U-shaped supporting yoke between the side walls of which is fixed a component part which, coaxially to bores in the side walls of the supporting yoke, has a bearing bore for a pivot pin connecting the wiper blade and wiper arm. The diameter of the bore in the side walls is larger than the diameter of the pivot pin, so that a metallic contact between pivot pin and side walls of the supporting yoke is prevented. In order to secure the position of the bearing axially a metallic locking spring is additionally fixed in this component part which cooperates with a groove in the pivot pin.

  • Patent number: 4798422
Abstract: In a brake system, two groups of wheel brakes (17, 18) and a brake valve (12) for controlling the initial pressure of a pump (24) are connected to the two brake lines (10, 15; 11, 16) of a tandem master cylinder (1). Through the brake valve (12), the flow of delivery of the pump (24), is restricted in response to the pressure in the brake conduits (10, 11), thereby generating, in a pressure conduit (26) in communication with the pump outlet, a pressure proportional to the master cylinder pressure and, through check valves (31, 32), being fed into the brake conduits (15, 16) leading to the wheel brakes (17, 18). The pump outlet (26), moreover, through a pressure conduit (33), is in communication with a reserve pressure chamber (34) separated through a piston (35) from the working chamber (6) of the tandem master cylinder (1).

  • Patent number: 4797520
Abstract: A switch, especially for motor vehicles, includes a housing which is insertable into an opening of a mounting plate. The housing is limited by a front plate, several side walls and a base plate. Locking springs project from two side walls. Each locking spring carries a stud. When the switch is mounted the studs snap into position behind the mounting plate. Release shanks projecting into the housing interior originate from the locking spring, which release shanks end in the area of apertures in the front plate. Thus the mounting plate need not have openings through which the locking springs are accessible for removal of the switch. Thus the switch can be surrounded by the mounting plate over the entire perimeter of its front plate.

  • Patent number: 4796959
Abstract: A brake system provided for automotive vehicles with front wheel drive or with rear wheel drive has a dual-circuit braking pressure generator (1) and diagonally connected wheel brakes. There is provided an auxiliary-pressure-supply system (5) with a hydraulic pump (6) which is switched on during brake application or when there is an excessive traction slip. In the brake slip control phase an auxiliary pressure is built up by an auxiliary pressure control valve (9), in the traction slip control phase an auxiliary pressure is built up by a 2/2-way valve (10). By separating valves (15, 16) the pressure medium path to the non-driven vehicle wheel (HR, HL) is locked in the traction slip control phase and, via inlet valves (EV.sub.3, EV.sub.4), pressure medium is directly fed from the auxiliary-pressure-supply system (5) into the driven wheels (VL, VR). Connected in parallel with the inlet valves (EV.sub.1, EV.sub.

  • Patent number: 4795002
Abstract: An electrically operated parking brake actuator for use with vehicles includes a motor operated driver member and an associated driven member. Each of the driver member and driven member is mounted for rotation about the same pivot pin and each is connected to a cable. Each cable is associated with a parking brake member. The motor operates the driver to drive the driven member which, in turn, tensions its associated cable to apply its associated parking brake member. This cable tension reacts through the actuator and drives the driver member in the opposite direction to tension the other cable and apply its associated brake.

  • Patent number: 4793660
Abstract: A hydraulic brake system for automotive vehicles has a master brake cylinder connected to an unpressurized reservoir and a brake line connected to a working chamber of the master brake cylinder and leading to pressure control valves of a brake slip control device. The pressure control valves are followed by wheel brake cylinders. The working chamber of the master brake cylinder is connectible to a pressure medium source upon the starting of the brake slip control device. The outlet pressure of the pressure medium source lies above the maximum braking pressure achievable by applying the master brake cylinder. The working chamber's front side (away from the first master cylinder piston) is sealed by a second master cylinder piston sealedly arranged within the master cylinder. The second master cylinder piston is sealed relative to the master cylinder by a non-return valve gasket.
