  • Patent number: 3993313
Abstract: Six-sided cubic blocks with interfitting and repelling sides have selected representations on each side according to predetermined patterns of relationships between side structures and representations. The blocks are assembled in horizontal and vertical arrays to achieve numerical goals of representations on faces of the arrays. • Patent number: 3993350
Abstract: A seat arm adjustment mechanism has a stop block attached to the back of a seat, and a shaft slidably mounted in a housing on the arm bears against the stop block. A locking arm is slidably mounted on the shaft within a slot in the housing. A spring, disposed in the housing and positionally held by a screw, effects a biasing force against a face of the locking arm. A raised portion of the locking arm bears against a face of the housing. A second spring mounted on a screw between an end of the shaft and a bracket moves the shaft toward the stop block. An elongated rod is slidably mounted on the arm to bear against a face on the locking arm opposite the first spring. Pushing the rod against locking arm allows the locking arm to slide along the shaft, while the arm is being moved to a new selected position. The arm may be raised and lowered, whereupon it stops at the last selected position.

  • Patent number: 3991508
Abstract: A container has one or more openings which extend into the container down elongated passageways. The passageways have needle prodders mounted along sidewalls to discourage rodent retreat once a rodent has entered the passageway. The interior ends of the passageways have doors with small holes for permitting rodents to smell enticing substances on the interior of the container, which doors are structured with lengths greater than the height of the passageways such that the doors extend into the interior of the container at an angle and can only be opened into the interior. The doors have needles on interior sides to keep rodents captured therein away from said doors. Sidewalls of the passageways extend into the interior of the container for keeping captured rodents away from side edges of the doors when in any open position.

  • Patent number: 3984069
Abstract: Runway distances are disclosed on sides of translucent truncated pyramids mounted on spaced runway lights. The pyramids have flat tops and two translucent sloped sides with large numerals which face the runway at 120.degree. angles. A rear face has a port with the hinged door for installation and maintenance access. A flat bottom with a central hole completes the pyramid. Sides and bottom are joined by inner and outer riveted angular channels. Anchor plates cover inner corners of the channels. The pyramids are mounted at thousand foot intervals. Cross bars are painted across the runway between opposite pyramids to promote pilots' perception of the indexed distances. Diffusers in the pyramids wash light evenly over the translucent faces for enhanced visibility. Transformers within the pyramids step up voltage to brighten runway lights.

  • Patent number: 3979674
Abstract: A telecommunication system used in a mine has a long aerial along a tunnel which radiates signals to a mobile station. Signals from the station are radiated back to the line. Repeaters are included along the line to make up power losses. A connection of an extra length of line is made on the output side of each repeater and extends back parallel to the line for a distance of up to half the distance between adjacent repeaters. This extra line reduces the attenuation of signal power between repeaters.

  • Patent number: 3979673
Abstract: A telecommunication system uses a long main transmission line which extends from a base station and has repeaters along its length. A parallel line is divided into sections corresponding in length to the distance between repeaters. Selected sections are connected in parallel with the main line through switches which operate at about a 3 kHz frequency. The switching operation reduced alternations in the main signal and mitigates problems arising from standing waves.
