  • Patent number: 4086710
Abstract: A person's memory of sequences is tested by shifting a relationship between switches and colored lights which they control. Switches in a row light colored lamps in a fixed sequence. A two part circular switch with opposed contacts equal in number to the switches or colors may be turned to shift the sequence of colors which the switches control. One part of the circular switch may be inverted so that the sequence of colors controlled by the switches may be reversed and may be shifted in reversed order. Inserts positioned between the two parts of the circular switch change the sequential relationships of colored lights and switches.

  • Patent number: 4079950
Abstract: A self-adjusting wear resistant seal assembly is provided for a cable rod slidably positioned within a cable conduit. A continuous polyethylene collar is radially compressed in close clearance around the rod by an elastomeric seal which embraces the end portion of the conduit and the collar and holds a flange on the collar against the end portion of the conduit. An integral lip on the seal engages the rod to provide a redundant seal. Corresponding serrations on the conduit and seal cooperate to secure the seal to the rod. A tapered lip may also be provided on the collar for engagement with the rod.

  • Patent number: 4079657
Abstract: A drum has a shell and tracks at opposite end of the shells. Inner and outer rings move within the tracks. The outer ring is constrained for vertical movement, and the inner ring is constrained for circumferential movement. At least one of the rings has a plurality of inclined planes, and the other ring has followers of the inclined planes. The followers have convex surfaces for fitting in concave surfaces of the inclined planes. A rack extending circumferentially on the inner ring has teeth shaped like ratchets. Turning gears turn the rack, and a latch successively engages the teeth. Lifting the latch permits the inner ring to move backward circumferentially allowing the follower rollers to slide down the inclined plane. The tracks and shells are covered by split hoops having inward hinges and latches.

  • Patent number: 4077006
Abstract: A two-way cable television broadcasting system wherein a single coaxial cable is used to deliver TV and FM programs to many subscribers with each subscriber having a specific allocated band of frequencies for reception of any desired television or FM program and where each subscriber can independently select the program desired to be seen and/or heard which will be delivered to the subscriber over an allocated band of frequencies. The subscriber drops from said coaxial cable are so arranged that they descend in frequency along the length of the feeder cable. Automatic switching of any incoming program to any drop is achieved by means of converting all incoming channels to a common I.F. frequency at an amplifier or control station and then deconverting said frequency to the desired outgoing band of frequencies.

  • Patent number: 4076343
Abstract: A spherical bearing assembly has a metal inner race member and an outer race member. The inner surface of the outer race member is a concave spherical surface and the outer surface of the inner member is a complementary convex spherical surface. The outer member includes an annular recess the base of which is threaded. The recess is adapted to threadably receive a first yieldable plastic annular ring whose outer surface is threaded with threads complementary to the threads on the base of the recess. A second formable and yieldable annular ring is also received in the recess in a side-by-side relationship with the first annular ring. The inner surface of the first and second annular rings provide approximately one-half of the concave spherical surface of the outer race member. The first annular ring operationally captures the second annular ring and the inner race member within the outer race member.

  • Patent number: 4068648
Abstract: A rotating brick saw has an enclosure which substantially surrounds a rotating saw, a sliding table which carries a brick into the saw and tracks on which the table slides. The enclosure has an opening at its distal end and a pit beneath the opening for collecting sawed particles. The sliding table has a wiper at its distal end to wipe sawed particles along a base of the enclosure into the opening and pit. A door closes an opening at the front of the enclosure, and the door has a flexible wiper at its base which wipes the table as it slides outward of the enclosure. A chute on the door guides sawed particles downward to the table and through an aperture in the table into a pit near a proximal end of the saw enclosure. The rear wall and front door of the enclosure are sloped inward to further aid in the deflection of sawed particles toward the particle-collecting pits.

  • Patent number: 4062289
Abstract: A powerhead mounting bracket is connected to a diver's breathing tank support. A cord connected to the receiver has a plug with a projection for loosely fitting in an axial bore of the powerhead. The plug is placed in the axial bore and the powerhead shaft is placed between the flanges on the receiver. The sling at the other end of the powerhead is stretched, forcing the powerhead tight against the plug, and the stretched spring is hooked into slots in the receiver. The stretched sling holds the shaft of the powerhead against the base of the receiver and holds the powerhead longitudinally against the plug. When required for use, the powerhead shaft is grasped near the firing end and is pushed in a direction towards the sling, further stretching the sling. When the plug drops out of the axial bore, the shaft is pulled outward from the receiver, allowing the sling to become untensioned, whereupon the sling drops out of the slot in the receiver.
