Abstract: There is herein described an emergency auto visual communication system that will enhance roadway, vehicular, and individual safety. Whereby the stranded motorist, accident victim, medical emergency, etc. is provided a viable means for communication of the situation to a casual observer, proper authorities, or other parties of interest accurately, precisely, and rapidly without having to leave the safety and confines of the vehicle. That is, the invention provides an advantageous means to prevent loss of life, save precious seconds, and provide the individual in need the proper help by use of the luminated electronic message board attached to the rear window of a vehicle controlled by a alpha-numeric computer keyboard.
Abstract: Outside and inside cylindrical containers store a toilet plunger and multiple rows of toilet paper. The outside container has a base with side vent holes and a cap with vent holes. A toilet plunger resides vertically in the container. The inside container has a central bore in a base plate through to a tube through which the handle of the plunger protrudes upwardly. Multiple rolls of toilet paper are mounted axially on the tube within the inside container. A pull rod on the outside of the inner container tube is used to lift the toilet rolls from the inner container.
Abstract: Method for determining the ice concentration in a liquid ice mixture (binary ice fluid), with the steps:
separating a partial flow of the fluid and introducing and heating the partial flow into a heat exchange (16) until complete melting takes place, accompanied by the measurement of the inlet temperature tA and outlet temperature tB,
further heating of the fluid flow by an external heat source and return of the partial flow through the heat exchanger (16), accompanied by the measurement of the inlet temperature tC and outlet temperature tO of the return partial flow and
calculating the ice concentration according to the equation
Xice=(tC−tO−tB+tA)·(cpfluid/hice),
in which
cpfluid is the specific heat capacity of the binary ice fluid and
hice is the enthalpy of fusion of the binary ice.
Abstract: A temperature change vest is provided for fitting around a person's torso. The vest includes seperate front and back panels which attach to one another at respective shoulder strap portions. Hook and loop material is provided upon the shoulder straps for attaching the panels together and for providing a means of adjustment such that the vest can be worn by a variety of people of different sizes. A plurality of horizontally disposed pockets, having open and closed ends and each defining a separate cavity, are provided along outer layers of the front and back panels. Heat packs, capable of retaining a hot or cold temperature, insert within the pockets. Two pair of fastening straps attached to the back panel engage a single pair of fastening strips disposed upon the front panel and work together along a horizontal plane to fit the vest to the person's torso.
Abstract: A heart valve prosthesis with a valve ring and at least one substantially elongated wing valve pivotally mounted about an axis located in the plane of the valve ring, in which the bearings of the wing valve or valves are in each case formed by a swivel pin, defining the swivel axis and fixed to the valve ring, a groove constructed in the wing valve and extending therethrough transversely to the axis and whose width corresponds to the diameter and whose depth corresponds to the length of the swivel pin, a first guide pin fixed to the valve ring, a first, convex slide cam constructed on the wing valve and which cooperates with the first guide pin, a second guide pin fixed to the valve ring and a second, convex slide cam constructed on the wing valve and which cooperates with the second guide pin, the spacing from one another of the two slide cams measured over the imaginary connecting line between the centers of the guide pins, in each position of the wing valve, corresponds to the internal, mutual spacing of t

Abstract: A thermally-coupled heat-dissipation apparatus (10) surrounds a solid state electronic device mounted on an adapter circuit board (14) or a thermal transfer column (74) extending upwardly from a main board socketed device. The apparatus (10) includes at least two heat sinks (18 and 20) positioned in a spaced parallel relationship on front and back sides (22 and 28) of the adapter circuit board (14) or thermal transfer column (74). A bridge member (38) thermally couples the two heat sinks (18 and 20). A plurality of fans (42) are mounted along outer surfaces of the heat sinks (18 and 20). In a preferred embodiment, the bridge member (38) is an additional heat sink, but could be a metal plate in alternate embodiments. The preferred device to cool using the present invention is a computer processor (12).
Abstract: A stepping screen assembly bottom portion is located in a liquid waste stream containing solids. The assembly contains a grid structure surrounded by an outer frame. The grid structure includes multiple parallel alternate static and dynamic bars horizontally spaced apart by spacers attached to the sides of the dynamic bars. Each bar has multiple vertically spaced apart shelves at a right angle to the vertical axis of the bar. The outer frame on each side of the grid structure contains a single and double stroke pneumatic cylinder connected to the dynamic bars. The single stroke cylinder causes the dynamic bars to move in a vertical plane and the double stroke pneumatic cylinder causes the dynamic bars to move in a horizontal plane.
Abstract: A portable partial discharge detecting device for measuring partial discharge in energized electrical systems encloses a relay circuit and a DC power source. A pair of sensor circuits are enclosed within electrically coupling clamping mechanisms and are coupled to the relay circuit at sensor inputs by cabling. The clamping mechanisms engage the ground leads of the electrical system. Trip and alarm networks of the relay circuit continuously compare the picocoulomb values of the partial discharge pulses against user set threshold values. Relays coupled to the trip and alarm networks respond if the threshold values are exceeded. The alarm setting is always set to a pick-up value equal to or less than the trip setting. The trip network relays are coupled to a control circuit of the electrical system and can take the system off-line. The alarm network relays are coupled to an alarm circuit and can warn the user that a certain level of partial discharge has been reached within the electrical system.
Abstract: A water vehicle lift includes a winch which is operable to extend and retract an elongated flexible cable to lower and raise a platform on which a small water vehicle may rest. The winch is preferably mounted on a piling with the platform moving up and down adjacent the piling. On the face of the platform immediately adjacent the piling, a wheel is provided which rolls on the surface of the piling to maintain the platform slightly spaced away from the piling.
Abstract: A center abduction bar attached at opposite ends to T-shaped connecting elements held in place by thumb screws, the connecting elements attached to side plates conforming to the shape of a patient's thigh and a soft covering over the side plates. The center abduction bar has an inner bar and outer tube to permit adjustment of the center bar's width and to control abduction of the patient's knee and hip. A thumb screw on the abduction bar controls the width setting.
