  • Patent number: 5213142
Abstract: A Stage II Vapor Recovery System is provided with a special array of storage tanks, dispensers, fuel pumps, vapor assist pumps, and flow control nozzles, to capture hydrocarbon emissions, prevent condensate from blocking vapor return lines, and dispense gasoline or other liquid fuel and condensate to customer tanks. Specifically, fuel lines connect storage tank to flow control nozzles via dispensers and are assisted by fuel pumps to pump gasoline into customers' tanks. The nozzles have vapor passageways to capture hydrocarbon vapors emitted during fueling. The captured vapors are pumped by vapor assist pumps from the vapor passageways through vapor return lines into the storage tanks. The nozzles are equipped with condensate liquid pickup tubes to remove condensed vapors blocking the vapor return lines. The condensate liquid tubes communicate with condensate venturi ports adjacent venturi sleeves in the nozzles.

  • Patent number: 5199471
Abstract: In the process, fuel is pumped from a storage tank through a dispenser and nozzle into a customer's tank. Hydrocarbon vapors emitted during fueling are collected through a vapor recovery passageway between the inner and outer spouts of the nozzle and conveyed by a vapor pump through vapor return lines into the storage tank. A portion of the vapors in the vapor return lines condense and are removed with the nozzle's condensate pickup tube. The removed condensate is dispensed into the customer's tank.

  • Patent number: 5099064
Abstract: A method and system for increasing conversion efficiency of aromatic alkyl reactant to aromatic carboxylic acid product and for improving the quality of the product, are disclosed. The method and system provide for the continuous production of an aromatic carboxylic acid by the liquid phase, exothermic oxidation of an aromatic alkyl in a vaporizable solvent in an oxidation reactor. The reactor makes use of a vented, overhead condenser system and a separator system for condensation of vaporized reactor material, separation of the condensed solvent therefrom, and reflux of separated solvent back into the reactor. The improvement comprises combining the reactor liquid feedstream with the refluxed solvent upstream from the oxidation reactor.

  • Patent number: 5034561
Abstract: A method is provided for cyclizing an alkenylbenzene to a dialkyltetrahydronaphthalene (dialkyltetralin) in the presence of a solid cyclization catalyst constituted by a relatively low acidity, ultrastable, hydrogen form of crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite Y having a sodium oxide-to-alumina bulk molar ratio in the range of about 0.001 to about less than 1, a unit cell size no greater than about 24.3 Angstroms, and a sodium content of no more than about 0.4 percent by weight, calculated as elemental sodium and based on the weight of the zeolite. This catalyst provides more activity, more stability, higher product purity, and higher product yields than known prior art zeolite cyclization catalysts notwithstanding its relatively lower acidity. A preferred alkenylbenzene is 5-(o-tolyl)-pent-2-ene which is converted in relatively high yields and relatively high selectivities to 1,5 dimethyltetrahydronaphthalene.
