Abstract: A feed apparatus for feeding material to a metalworking machine comprises two alternately operating gripping units; the first unit comprising a reciprocating transport gripper element which moves the material forward by steps; the second unit comprises a stationary non-return gripper element which retains the material during the return stroke of the transport gripper element. At least one of the elements can be operated in opposition to spring force by means of a pressure medium which can be displaced by a displacing means acting as an operating mechanism. At least one of the gripper elements is connected to a displacing means by a closed container which stores the pressure medium, the container having extensible wall sections to which the gripper element and the displacing means is connected.
Abstract: Crash-helmet in the form of a bell-shaped hood with a visor covering the field of view and arranged above a chin guard, characterized in that the hood consists of at least two swivelling parts connected by means of a hinge arrangement and which can be interlocked by safety locking devices on the abutting surfaces.
Abstract: An apparatus for encouraging or instructing personal hygiene having a non-animated character figure of a substantially three-dimensional configuration and an audio producing means in combination with an electrically operated toothbrush. A toothbrush is supported by the character figure. Removal for use of the toothbrush activates the audio producing means for a defined period. The audio producing means recites a melody or message or combination thereof. The audio producing means will continue to operate when deactivated when the toothbrush is returned to the character figure or when the audio producing means is manually deactivated, however, when deactivated the audio producing means continue to the end of the message or melody then in progress.
Abstract: The invention provides a support unit for drivers' cabs which actively compensates for any relative movement between chassis and cab by providing at least one support cylinder which is axially rigidly mounted on the chassis with its support piston and flexibly supported on the cab by its cylinder, the cylinder forming a movement-producing unit with a directional control valve whose body alternately connects the front side of the support piston to the pressure side of a constant-pressure circuit or to a non-pressurized outlet and is attached to the cab.
Abstract: A jig used to both space and form pleats. The jig has one finger which abuts a datum surface on a previously formed pleat (the datum surface being either a sew line or the loop) and another finger over which the material is folded to form a loop, so that each pleat is located from the previously formed pleat. The pleats can be sewn while retained in location by the jig, when the jig is associated with means which locate it with respect to the needle of a sewing machine.
Abstract: A television camera, scanner and amplifier all in water proof housings which are close to one another and in tandem. The camera has illuminating lamps coupled to it arranged to illuminate a space forwardly of the lens. An elongate television cable couples the scanner to a television readout screen. The housings are arranged so that they can be moved through a bend or a tee of a standard four inch salt-glazed sewer pipe.
Abstract: In lieu of a pair of bevel gears which mesh to rotate about axes inclined to one another, each gear is carried on a cylindrical base having a boss extending from one end and co-axial with the base. Each tooth is integral with both the base and the boss and the adjacent walls of adjacent teeth are parallel for portion of their respective lengths such that the teeth are bulbous. Point engagement exists between the teeth. For a given pair of gears the angle between the axis of rotation can be widely varied.
Abstract: A drilling machine comprising an article holding device and two drilling devices, being characterized that each drilling device has one drill turning in the same direction at a synchronized speed, each drill approaching to or separating from each other symmetrically to make a hole from both sides of a rigid and fragile article made of glass or ceramic e.g. lenses of spectacles at the same time, and that the hole is chamfered and further a groove for fixing the article to the frame is made on the article, as required.
Abstract: A salt-containing unprocessed foodstuff is charged in a wrapping tube unit comprising a cylindrical body, end plate means comprising members bonded to open opposite ends of the cylindrical body, and a pair of electrical contact members previously impregnated with a salt solution and fitted in the end plate means to provide a wrapped material foodstuff. The end plate means may be of any shape and is formed with a multitude of apertures, at least one of the members having cuts made therein to permit charging of the unprocessed foodstuff in the cylindrical body which may be deformed to conform to the shape of the end plate means.
Abstract: An alloy for a nozzle plate for spinning glass fibers which contains between 82 and 92 percent by weight platinum, between 3 and 10 percent by weight gold, and between 3 and 12 percent by weight palladium. This alloy displays an excellent resistance to wetting by molten glass, a superior machinability, and a superior durability.
Abstract: In an apparatus for producing glass fibers wherein an orifice plate formed with a greater number of orifice holes in high density is provided to draw glass fibers therethrough and air nozzle means is provided for impinging air flow against the undersurface of the orifice plate so that the adjacent cones of molten glass formed on the undersurface of the orifice plate may be prevented from coalescing to each other, an air nozzle assembly is provided which includes a plurality of tubular nozzles arranged in such a way that their discharge ports may be arranged in line and in parallel with the longitudinal direction of the array of orifice holes in the orifice plate and spaced apart from each other by a predetermined distance.
Abstract: An apparatus and method of making a parallax stereogram, i.e., free vision stereogram, and particularly for the accurate registration of a plurality of film images in order to ensure stereographic reproduction. Each film frame having the image thereon includes marks which are used in a projection printing apparatus to register the image in a desired position. The registration is accomplished by mechanical alignment according to the mark or by optically sensing the mark. A comparator-servo can adjust the film frame to the desired position. After registration each film frame is exposed onto a photosensitive material using a movable line grid. A lenticular screen is superimposed over the developed picture to form the stereoscopic photograph.

Abstract: The invention resides in firstly conveying tiles edgeways, while "on flat", in a conveyor which terminates in a discharge station which is vertical or nearly vertical, and transferring the tiles to a further conveyor which conveys them at reduced speed, while they are supported on edge, so that the tiles stack in face to face juxtaposition. The tiles can then be removed as a stack from the further conveyor.
Abstract: A rice pearling apparatus of the type including a pearling chamber formed by a pearling roll and a multiple-holed debranning-pearling cylinder surrounding the roll, and a device for feeding rice to the pealing cylinder, further comprises a device for supplying water to the pearling chamber, flow meters for measuring and indicating the rates of rice and water flow into the chamber, and a device for regulating the respective flow rates of rice and water.
Abstract: A fixed volume discharge device adapted to be mounted to a container, and having a first chamber communicating with the interior of the container and a second chamber communicating with the atmosphere, the first chamber and the second chamber communicating with each other through a restricted opening. A liquid or powder stored in the container flows into the first chamber when the container is downwardly inclined, and then flows into the second chamber from the first chamber when the container is returned in its normal attitude. Thus, when the container is again downwardly inclined, the liquid or the powder within the second chamber is discharged while the liquid or the powder in the container flows into the first chamber, thereby a predetermined fixed volume liquid or powder is obtainable through the fixed volume discharge device each time the container is downwardly inclined.
Abstract: A V-suspension insulator assembly for suspending multiple conductors is disclosed, in which an angle of intersection of axial lines of connecting hardwares for connecting an inverted-U shape upper yoke to which V-suspension insulator strings for suspending multiple conductors are attached and a lower yoke which extends between opposite legs of the upper yoke is selected to be equal to or larger than an angle of intersection of axial lines of the insulator strings; and the intersecting point of the axial lines of the connecting hardwares is positioned near a center of gravity of a polygon defined by connecting points at which suspension clamps are attached to the lower yoke. With this construction, the movement and rotation of the lower yoke by load by wind pressure in a direction transverse to the conductors can be prevented and a space between the conductors can be reduced while preventing the mutual contact of the conductors and the twist of the conductor bundle.
