  • Patent number: 4982785
Abstract: The present invention is an improved serpentine heat exchanger. Two metal sheets are crimped together, sealed at their abutting edges. The sheets have matching depressions which from a serpentine air passageway. Within the passageway are elongated ribs and column like dimples which serve as obstruction to the air flow, directing fluid flow over under-utilized portions of the passageway and generating turbulent fluid flow near heat transfer surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4982721
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method of compensating for a restricted intake in a two stage furnace. The furnace includes low and high pressure switches for determining if sufficient air is present to support low and high combustion. When the furnace operates at high combustion, the state of the high pressure switch is monitored to determine if the high pressure switch has changed state for a predetermined amount of time such as 15 seconds. The inducer fan is switched to low when insufficient air for high combustion has been indicated for such a predetermined time. If the state of the low pressure switch indicates that insufficient air is available for low combustion, then the inducer is turned on high.

  • Patent number: 4982474
Abstract: The present invention relates to an arrangement for a door intended, in conjunction with the closing of same, to prevent injury by crushing between the door leaf (4) and the case (2). The arrangement (1) comprises a body component (5) with a plane surface (7) intended to be mounted against the door leaf (4). A longitudinal locking component (6) is pivotally mounted in the body component (5). A spring (9) acts between the aforementioned body and locking components (5, 6), which have devices which define a relative angular position. This means essentially that the direction of longitudinal extension of the locking component (6) forms a normal to the plane surface (7) of the body component (5). The spring (9) forces the components (5, 6) to adopt the aforementioned angular position.

  • Patent number: 4979596
Abstract: A safety brake system for a walk behind lawn mower in which provision is made for alternative orientations of the engine relative to the mower deck and operator's position while utilizing the same components for the safety brake system. Only the interconnection of the components is changed for the alternative engine orientations. In one configuration, a control lever connected intermediate an operator actuated bowden cable and the brake disengagement device is pivoted between the attachment points of the control lever to the bowden cable and the disengagement device such that a reverseal of direction of pull is effected. In the other configuration, the point of attachment of the control lever to the disengagement device is on the same side of the pivot point of attachment to the bowden cable such that no reversal of direction of pull occurs.

  • Patent number: 4979153
Abstract: A mounting apparatus for the sonic transducer of a directional Doppler fish-finder includes an elongate tubular control arm and a clamp assembly for attaching the control arm to the side of a boat so as to extend along and pivot about a generally vertical axis. The upper end of the control arm includes a pivotally mounted control lever, and the lower end includes a pivotally mounted transducer mounting plate to which the transducer is attachable. The control lever and the mounting plate are interconnected by a pair of cables extending through the tubular control arm, whereby pivotal movement of the control lever causes pivotal movement of the mounting plate about a generally horizontal axis. Pivotal movement of the mounting plate about both the vertical and horizontal axes enables a fisherman to direct the sonic signal of the transducer in a locus of directions representing semispherical coverage of the water about the boat.

  • Patent number: 4977648
Abstract: An arrangement for a snap lock includes a first component having a projecting part that is capable of being introduced into a corresponding cavity in a second component. An indentation in the projecting part is oriented transverse to the direction of introduction into the cavity. A snap device, e.g., a piece of profile strip made of flexible material such as plastic or rubber, is introduced into an undercut groove in the wall of the cavity, wherein a portion of the strip corresponding to the indentation extends into the cavity, thereby producing a snap locking function between the components when introduced one into the other. The components are preferably formed of pieces cut to identical lengths from two extruded profile strips made of rigid material, such as plastic or light metal.

  • Patent number: 4977868
Abstract: A compression release mechanism for an internal combustion engine wherein a rotatable pin positioned axially parallel to the camshaft is rotatably received in the camshaft lobes, and has an auxiliary cam surface mounted at an axial end thereof. The auxiliary cam surface is adapted to extend above the outboard camshaft lobe to engage one of the valve lifters to thereby activate a compression release valve when the rotatable pin is rotated to a first position in response to low engine speed. The pin is rotated to a second position in response to high engine speed whereby the auxiliary cam surface is adapted so as not to engage the valve lifter. The pin is rotated by means of a centrifugally activated flyweight in response to engine speed.
