  • Patent number: 4683839
Abstract: The subject invention involves a combination of a table constituting a support comprising a top, framework forming a compartment and legs which define a relatively large unobstructed center area or space and the litter equipment which is substantially arranged or confined in that space.More particularly, the equipment for litter comprises a relatively large plastic bag and receptacle of appropriate size containing litter which is placed in the bottom of the bag, and the bag is also provided with an opening through which a cat may enter into the receptacle and exit therefrom. The bag is preferably transparent or translucent and its upper extremity is preferably detachably connected at several locations in order to stabilize or support the bag in an upright condition in the central space or area of the support or table. One component of the equipment and/or support is a tablecloth, cover or drape, preferably one reaching to the floor, which serves to cover and conceal the support and the litter equipment.

  • Patent number: 4682887
Abstract: The viability of a pack of stored blood platelets is monitored by gripping the pack between two plates (6) and (7) which are closed to pinch together the walls of the bag (10) along an L-shaped seal (14), leaving a channel (17), squeezing a part (15) of the bag by means of a reciprocating plunger (19), so that the platelets continually flow to and fro between the part (15) and the part (16), through the channel (17), and passing a beam of light from an LED (27) through the channel (17), to a photoresistor (29). The AC signal from the photoresistor corresponds to the fluctuations in the intensity of the light passing through the channel (17) and the amplitude of this signal is representative of the viability, and hence the clinical acceptability, of the platelets.

  • Patent number: 4679534
Abstract: A primer for an internal combustion engine carburetor including a variable volume air chamber which is provided with a flexible resilient dome member. The dome member includes a protruding nipple including an aperture therein for admitting air into the chamber. Inside the chamber, a protrusion is provided including a sloping surface with an aperture therein. A passage connects the aperture in the sloping surface to the fuel supply bowl. When an operator abruptly depresses the flexible resilient dome member, a volume of air is abruptly displaced from the chamber through the passage and into the fuel supply bowl to force fuel from the bowl through a nozzle and into a fuel/air mixture passageway of the carburetor.

  • Patent number: 4677763
Abstract: A backing screen runs together with the paper web through the drying section of a paper machine. The backing screen bridges the space between the press section and the drying section. For threading the so-called transfer strip through the drying section there is a rope carrier provided whose ropes run outside the paper web width. Prior to its insertion at the entrance point of the rope carrier, the transfer strip, which is separated from the backing screen, is passed across a mechanical guide element which, sideways and from the outside, can be moved into the area of the backing screen and back again. The mechanical guide element is movable so that the space between the guide element and the backing screen is variable.

  • Patent number: 4676205
Abstract: An arrangement for mounting a two-stroke cycle vertical crankshaft internal combustion engine on a rotary mower deck to accept a four-stroke cycle vertical crankshaft internal combustion engine whereby either type engine may be adapted to the same mower deck is disclosed including a feature for minimizing the risk of crankshaft or crankcase damage in the event of impact of the rotating mower blade with a relatively immovable object. By employing the adapted which allows mounting of the two-stroke cycle engine on the mower deck to also reinforce the lower region of the engine crankcase where the crankshaft extends from the crankcase a lighter weight, cheaper construction of the two-stroke cycle engine is possible.

  • Patent number: 4676151
Abstract: A grooved baking pan and a method for baking therewith wherein the bottom surface of the pan is provided with a plurality of grooves. In the preferred embodiment, the grooves are V-shaped. The grooves are arranged in a pattern such as a grid pattern and apertures are located in the areas bounded by the intersecting grooves. The pan is used to bake high density food products such as pizza in an impingement oven wherein columns of heated air are formed which are directed at localized areas of the bottom surface of the pan. The pan is moved relative to the impinging air columns while the food product is being baked.

  • Patent number: 4670782
Abstract: A television video pattern generator system comprises a keyboard for entering pulse width and timing parameters for a video scanning rate. The individual incremental pulse width and timing parameters for the horizontal and vertical synchronizing waveforms are entered into a keyboard. A pattern selector selects a particular pattern which the operator wants to display on the video screen. The entered values are stored in a memory and a central processing unit processes the entered parameters and causes horizontal and vertical generators to generate the horizontal and vertical scan signals. A sync generator receives inputs from the horizontal and vertical generators and generates the scan rate. A pattern generator receives inputs from the sync generator and a pattern selector and generates a video display pattern in accordance with the selected pattern parameters and the selected scan rate parameters.

  • Patent number: 4662175
Abstract: A fluid circuit for a hydrodynamic coupling comprises a circuit line which is connected to the outlet of the coupling and which extends via a cooler and via a flow control element back to the inlet of the coupling. An overflow valve serving for limiting pressure and the delivery line of a filling pump are connected to the circuit line in front of the flow control element in the flow direction. Arranged in the delivery line are a fixed-setting throttle element, for example a diaphragm, and, parallel to this, a high-speed filling valve which opens automatically when the pressure prevailing in the circuit line in front of the flow control element falls below a specific limiting value.

  • Patent number: 4661084
Abstract: A shaft coupling which is torsionally stiff yet capable of being elastically bent having guides arranged between two coupling halves at right angles to the axis of rotation in the form of thin-walled plates. Their overlapping end sections assigned to one another being alternately fixed to the coupling halves between tightening washers. So as to reduce its stiffness under flexure, the front side nearest the plate of one tightening washer supported against the corresponding coupling half has a middle section running radially and intersecting the extended axis of rotation at least more or less obliquely, which passes over on both sides into flat zones extending at right angles to the axis of rotation, so that the middle planes of the plates running on both sides of the tightening washer lie in a common plane.

  • Patent number: 4657286
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a tube coupling having a hollow tubular body having collet form couplings at either end thereof to receive and lock tubes in the body at either end. The body has an internal annular wall and an inner lines which extends over the wall shoulder and along the body to either side of the annular wall shoulder towards the locations of the collets. The liner is formed from a material which is inert to the fluid to be passed through the tubes and has integral annular seals to seal with the tubes inserted in the body to prevent loss of fluid from the tubes into parts of the body not covered by the liner.
