  • Patent number: 7036749
Abstract: The invention comprises a curved fluidic device and a housing piece with a curved slot to accommodate the curved fluidic device. The aim angle can be varied greatly by changing the depth of insertion of the fluidic device into the curved slot. By adjusting the curvature of the fluidic device and slot, the amount of variation possible and sensitivity to insertion depth can be controlled. With more curvature, the aim angle can be adjusted more but is more sensitive to insertion depth tolerance. With less curvature, the insertion depth is more robust but the aim adjustment range is smaller.

  • Patent number: 7016364
Abstract: Data packets are selected for simultaneous transmission to multiple users using a transmitter with limited transmission power by first establishing transmission power requirements for each user, receiving in a queue a plurality of data packets for transmission to one or more users, and selecting one or more data packets for transmission in a composite burst with cumulative power for the selective packets not exceeding the limited transmission power. Data packets are selected for sequential composite bursts until all data packets in the queue have been transmitted, at which time transmission ceases until more incoming packets arrive at the queue. In selecting data packets for transmission, data packets which have previously been delayed in transmission can be given priority as well as priority based on quality of service subscribed by each user. Additionally a predetermined priority weight can be assigned to data packets and used for selection.

  • Patent number: 7007616
Abstract: An oxygen-based biomass solid fuel combustion system and method has an air separator for separating oxygen from air providing a supply of oxygen for feeding oxygen to a solid fuel combustion chamber. An airlock feeds a metered amount of solid fuel to the solid fuel combustion chamber. A burner stage having a firetube for collecting fuel gases from the solid fuel combustion chamber combusts the collected fuel gases with further oxygen from the separator and heats a boiler to generate steam. A heat utilization device (e.g. an electrical generator) may be connected to the steam boiler. Nitrogen-free diluent gases (e.g. argon and carbon dioxide) are used to control combustion process temperatures. The usable heat energy and useful byproducts are extracted from the different stages of the process.

  • Patent number: 6959654
Abstract: A solid fuel fed combustor method having a first chamber portion with an inlet feeding a metered amount of a solid fuel to a first burner stage having a first traveling conveyor firebelt. A metered amount of air is introduced in progressively increasing proportions along the length thereof to cause endothermic reduction of the solid fuel. The first stage feeds a second burner stage having a second traveling conveyor firebelt. Air is introduced in a progressively decreasing amount along the length of the second traveling conveyor firebelt to induce exothermic combustion and decomposition of fuel. The amount of air introduced and speed of the conveyors are controlled to minimize the quantity of carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides and other pollutants. Radiative energy generated from fuel traveling on the traveling conveyor firebelts is reflected on fuel traveling on the first firebelt.

  • Patent number: 6938835
Abstract: A full coverage area spray device has an oscillation chamber. Chamber end plates have a diameter D and the distance between the inlet and outlet apertures is L and ratio L/D determines the spray pattern and is adapted to support a basic toroidal flow pattern that remains captive within the confines of the oscillation chamber. The toroid spins about its cross-sectional axis and being supplied energy from the jet of liquid issued into the oscillation chamber. The toroidal flow pattern has diametrically opposed cross-sections which alternate in size to cause the jet to move in radial paths and also in tangential direction and thereby choose a different radial path at each sweep, whereby there is a random sweeping of the jet issuing from the outlet aperture over the area.
