  • Patent number: 5362064
Abstract: A modified method of playing Baccarat is provided in which the conventional 5% commission charged by the gaming establishment on winning Bank hand wagers is eliminated. Preselected combinations of Bank and Player hands which would have been winning Bank hands under the conventional manner of play of Baccarat are treated as "push" or "bar" hands. The preselected combinations are chosen so that the gaming establishment maintains its desired percentage advantage over the bettor. In another embodiment, changes are made to the "third card draw rules" so that the Player's hand and the Bank's hand operate under the same criteria for whether a third card is or is not dealt to each respective hand. Separate mechanical or electrical devices can also be used to establish that a particular round of play of Baccarat would be a Bank hand "bar" round. Additionally, extra side wagers are added to the game.

  • Patent number: 5356140
Abstract: A player makes a wager to participate in the game and the player is dealt two distinct hands at the beginning of the game. Each hand is dealt from its own separate complete deck of cards. The player selects one of the hands to play and the unselected hand is voided or removed from use. The player plays out the selected hand according to the conventional manner of play of the game. The player wins or loses based on a payout schedule applied to preselected winning hand combinations and based on the number of coins wagered by the player. The game can be applied to any variation of draw poker, stud poker or Twenty-One. The game can be played in a live game version or an electronic video gaming machine can be programmed to display the game and provide the payouts to the player.

  • Patent number: 5355536
Abstract: A bathroom exhaust system includes a ventilated toilet seat assembly, one or more exhaust lines connected to the ventilated toilet seat through a mounting block attached to the toilet bowl behind the toilet seat and an exhaust fan located in or adjacent to the ceiling of the bathroom. The exhaust fan is vented to the outside atmosphere and is controlled by an electrical switch mounted on the wall of the bathroom. The ventilated toilet seat assembly includes a toilet seat that has a hollow interior and is provided with a plurality of vent apertures permitting communication with the interior of the toilet bowl. An exhaust line is provided at the rear of the toilet seat and cooperates with an exhaust passageway in a mounting block attached to the top of the toilet bowl just in front of the water tank and behind the toilet seat. The mounting block also includes the hinges for pivoting the toilet seat.

  • Patent number: 5342195
Abstract: Various adaptors are used for securing a replaceable syringe tip in operative relationship to a handpiece body. The syringe tip is mounted on a tapered male connector set in the hollow interior of the adaptor. O ring seals and a metal flange member are used to prevent the leakage of air or water passing from the handpiece into the interior of the adaptor and then into the syringe tip. A captivated thumb nut is utilized to prevent the thumb nut from accidently disengaging completely from the adaptor. When the thumb nut is loosened to replace a syringe tip, the thumb nut will remain captivated on the adapter, only loosening enough to allow removal and insertion of a syringe tip.

  • Patent number: 5342049
Abstract: A gaming machine combines a random selection feature with a skill feature to allow the player to utilize his ability to manipulate the skill feature to improve his chances of winning on the gaming machine. A reel slot machine is combined with a playing surface using a ball. The reel slot machine is first activated and a combination of slot symbols are randomly selected. The player manipulates a ball about a playing surface and the travel of the ball can result in additional spins of one or more reels of the slot machine so that other winning opportunities can be created. The gaming machine can be operated so that the playing surface is only activated when the player achieves a losing combination on the reel slot machine portion. This allows the player a second chance to win if he can use his skill on the playing surface to respin the reel slots. The player can also win "bonus" amounts as set out on a predetermined schedule of payouts by his skillful manipulation of the ball on the playing surface.

  • Patent number: 5306146
Abstract: A syringe tip is locked into a three-way dental handpiece body by means of a syringe tip locking assembly that screws into a threaded receiver in the body of the handpiece. The locking assembly comprises an adaptor that has a central tapered male member that receives one end of the syringe tip, a gripping member that fits over the tapered male member and a locking cap that screws onto the adaptor and over the gripping member. The gripping member includes a plurality of gripping fingers that engage the syringe tip and the locking cap effects the tightening of the gripping fingers into the syringe tip. The locking assembly both applies a positive gripping action to the syringe tip and also pulls the syringe tip onto the tapered male member to securely hold the syringe tip in the adaptor during use by the dentist. The gripping member is captivated inside the locking cap to prevent inadvertent separation of the pieces.

  • Patent number: 5275400
Abstract: The present invention is designed specifically to comply with gaming regulations to provide an electronic video poker game, an electronic slot machine, an electronic twenty-one game or an electronic craps game in which the players are competing against each other to win from a common pool and are not wagering against the house. The house retains an pre-established commission. When a player stops playing his machine, he can cash out his accrued credits for an amount determined by the value of the common pari-mutuel pool. The present invention also provides for pari-mutuel pools to be distributed to all coin columns in a predetermined manner so as to allow all participants (not only the ones who play maximum coins) to be able to win a predetermined mathematical proportional share of the pari-mutuel jackpot pool (progressive payouts).

  • Patent number: 5269187
Abstract: An automotive straight line G-meter utilizes the input from a piezoresistive accelerometer to accurately measure and display both straight line forward and backward as well as lateral or side to side acceleration and deceleration of a vehicle. The automotive straight line G-meter includes solid state circuitry which temperature compensates and amplifies the transducer output before coupling to an analog meter that is calibrated to show the gravity effect of acceleration and deceleration of the vehicle. The G-meter device further includes circuitry for energizing an automotive tachometer that employs a LED (light emitting mode) bar graph to display the revolutions per minute (RPM) of the vehicle engine.

  • Patent number: 5257789
Abstract: A variation of the card game of Twenty-One enables each player to play a single hand against multiple successive dealer's hands. The apparatus for playing the game includes a table layout with positions designated for the players to make their wagers and play their hands and for the dealer to play his hands. Each of the dealer's hands uses the same "up" card. Each player makes one or more antes to be eligible to participate against each of the dealer's hands played during any particular round and two cards are dealt to each player and the dealer. Each player then takes hits or stands as desired by the player. Once all of the players have completed the play, the dealer then takes hits or stands as required by the predetermined method of play of the dealer's hand. Once the dealer has completed the play of his hand, winning player's wagers are paid and losing player's wagers are collected, but only relative to the player's first ante and any additional bets that may have been made.
