Abstract: Elastomeric sheeting materials are described which are formed from the process of (1) creating a membrane comprising a semi-interpenetrating polymer network ("IPN") of polytetrafluoroethylene ("PTFE") and polydimethylsiloxane ("PDMS") by causing a matrix of PDMS to be formed in situ with a matrix of PTFE; (2) causing a surface of substantially pure PDMS to be formed on at least one side thereof; (3) allowing said PDMS compositions to vulcanize; and (4) converting said structure into useful shapes suitable for application to anatomical areas of the body. The product of the process is suitable for the treatment of dermatologic scars, such as those associated with traumatic or surgical injuries of the skin. The pure PDMS layer provides desired therapeutic effects. The semi-IPN membrane provides improved physical integrity, durability, and elastic behavior in comparison to prior art.
Abstract: Combinations of IPN type molecular or intramolecular materials, which are thermoadhesive at temperatures not exceeding 90.degree. C. and which can be molded and shaped at said temperature, are characterized in that they contain a first rubber-like elastoviscous constituent having a softening point not exceeding 90.degree. C. and a second, semi-cristalline constituent essentially of the polyester type having a fusion temperature of 35.degree. to 80.degree. C. These combinations have controlled adhesiveness and adequate fluidity for application by hand particularly in do it yourself applications, orthopedics, sport and physiotherapy, and as an adhesive material on rough or porous bodies.

Abstract: A dry film coating composition for use in coating pharmaceuticals, food, confectionery forms, agricultural seeds, and the like, comprises a cellulosic polymer, and lactose. The composition may include an optional plasticizer, and an optional pigment. A method of coating substrates such as pharmaceutical tablets, food and confectionery forms, agricultural seeds, and the like comprises mixing a cellulosic polymer and lactose into water to form an aqueous coating suspension, spraying the coating suspension onto said substrates to form a film coating on said substrates, and drying the film coating on said substrates. Optionally, a plasticizer and/or pigment may be dispersed into the aqueous coating suspension. The method of making a dry film coating composition for use in coating pharmaceutical tablets, food and confectionery forms, agricultural seeds, and the like, comprises mixing a cellulosic polymer and lactose together to form a dry film coating composition.
Abstract: An orthopedic pillow for helping to correct and helping to prevent hyperkyphosis and rigidity of the thoracic spine and for returning the normal lordotic cervical curve comprises a base panel having a first end portion, a second end portion, a left top surface segment extending between the first end portion and the second end portion, and a right top surface segment extending between the first end portion and the second end portion, a first crown for supporting the thoracic spine, the first crown being formed on the first end portion of the base panel, extending toward the second end portion of the base panel, and dividing at least partially the left top surface segment from the right top surface segment, and a transition ramp formed in the first end portion of the first crown for supporting the spine just under and below the shoulder blades of a reclining person.
Abstract: A process for producing fireproof, carbon-containing ceramic moldings in which an oxidic fireproof matrix material with a carbon-containing component and a polymer compound is mixed together to form a mixture, and in which the mixture is processed into moldings. The moldings subsequently are heat-treated.
Abstract: A pipet gun assembly with a handle and a barrel extending from the handle and a pipet stand, wherein a pipet tube connected to the barrel is supported upright by the base of the handle and the stand connected to the barrel so that the pipet tube does not touch anything and can remain sterile. The pipet tube is supported with its admitting-emitting end below the level of its connecting end that is connected to the pipet gun so that any liquid in the pipet tube does not flow back through the tube and into the pipet gun.
Abstract: A tee divider for dividing a tee area of a golf driving range into subsections and for blocking golf balls errantly hit by a first golfer from hitting a second golfer practicing next to the first golfer, comprises a frame having an upper end portion and a lower end portion, mounting feet mounted on the lower end portion of the frame for securing the tee divider on the tee area and for supporting the tee divider in an upright position substantially perpendicular to the plane of the tee area, a deflector sheet extending between the upper end portion of the frame and the lower end portion of the frame for blocking golf balls hit by a first golfer from hitting a second golfer practicing next to the first golfer on the opposite side of the tee divider, and a fastening rope for attaching the deflector sheet to the frame.
Abstract: A method of protecting a plastic boat hull against blistering, comprising the steps of applying an outer gelcoat layer to the inner surface of a mold, applying a layer of barrier coat material of microspheres thoroughly mixed in a synthetic resin matrix to the outer gelcoat layer to form a barrier coat layer, bonding the barrier coat layer to the outer gelcoat layer, applying an outer layer of fiber reinforced synthetic plastic to the barrier coat layer, bonding the outer fiber reinforced synthetic plastic layer to the barrier coat layer, applying successive layers of fiber reinforced synthetic plastic to form a laminated boat hull having a series of fiber reinforced synthetic plastic layers with an inner layer, and applying an inner gelcoat layer to the inner layer of the fiber-reinforced synthetic plastic layers.
