  • Patent number: 4677302
Abstract: A beam (2) of collimated light is directed towards a printed circuit board (4). The light beam is displaced as reflected from a point of incidence in a path including surfaces having different heights above the printed circuit board when detected at an angle oblique to the surface. From the variation of displacement which is portional to height, the overall profile of the circuit board including components present thereon is determined along the path (56) or line (64) the beam is incident. Various photodetectors (14) are utilized and the addition of a ramp filter (58) enables a single cell integrating photodetector to provide an output intensity indicative of the displacement. An arrangement (FIG. 11) is presented for compensating for variations in surface reflectivity using normalization or feedback.

  • Patent number: 4677325
Abstract: A switching circuit includes two series-connected MOSFET (1, 6) complementing one another, which are interconnected at the drain terminal of each device. The gate terminal of the MOSFET that is grounded is connected to a control input terminal (E). This gate terminal is also connected to the source terminal of a depletion FET (7). The drain terminal of the depletion FET (7) is connected to the gate terminal of the second MOSFET (6) and, in turn, is connected via a resistor (8) to a voltage source (+U). The gate terminal of the depletion FET (7) is grounded. The load (5) is then connected to the drain side of the complementary MOSFET. When the switch is in a blocking condition, the cross current is thus prevented from flowing; and the FET connected to voltage can be completely activated.

  • Patent number: 4675271
Abstract: The invention relates to persistent screens where the image to be stored is stored in a layer (3) which contains as an active substance an illuminable luminophor (5) and which is tinted to increase the picture sharpness. The luminophor (5) is a rather small quantity of organic and/or inorganic UV luminophor material. In this connection, it has been found to be desirable to at least reduce the light loss caused by the tinting. To this end, the invention avoids dispersions of the scanning beam (14) in the persistence layer (3) during scanning by admixing to the luminophor (5) an UV luminophor (6) as well as an optical brightener (7). It has also been found appropriate to apply the persistence layer (3) on a substrate (2), such as a polyester foil, which is tinted with a substance that absorbs the light of the scanning beam (14) used for illuminating the layer (5). Such a screen utilizing the inventive principles is particularly useful in medical technology applications.

  • Patent number: 4670727
Abstract: The relay has a flat armature (6) carried at one bearing edge (15) of a yoke arm (5a), which is attached via an armature retaining spring (8). In order to protect the armature against shocks, the exposed section (18) of the armature retaining spring (8) engages with one or several extensions (6a) of the armature. In the event of shocks occurring in the direction parallel to the coil axis, the armature is only able to move slightly and then it knocks against the terminal edges (16) of the exposed spring sections (18).

  • Patent number: 4661738
Abstract: A SAW device using a first reflector (13) and a second reflector (14) is arranged to provide compensation for temperature effects. The temperature effects are due to the anisotropic characteristics of piezoelectric material commonly used as the substrate and wave medium for the acoustic waves in the SAW devices. These materials typically exhibit a temperature dependent, preferential direction of transmission which if not compensated results in a temperature dependent signal attenuation. An additional technique using a non-reflective portion 22 offsets non-uniformity which occurs in the amplitude distribution of the reflected acoustic wave. Each reflector (13 and 14) may include its respective non-reflective portion (A.sub.1 and A.sub.2).

  • Patent number: 4661038
Abstract: A protection arrangement for industrial robotics and other applications reacts to torsion moments and pressure forces in addition to bending moments and traction forces acting upon the flange of the industrial robotics. In the protection arrangement, a protection flange (1) is pulled or held in compression against pins (6) arranged on a divided circle with the tie rod (2) by means of springs (3). On the left end of the tie rod (2) an activating element (10) has been arranged, pressed against a sliding member (12) and/or activating levers (17) by means of spring (11). Upon shifting the activating element (10), a switch (13) is activated for deactivating the industrial robots. This protection arrangement provides mechanical protection for the gripper in addition to the conventional fuse electrical protection for the activating drives.

  • Patent number: 4649930
Abstract: From a heart sound signal input the occurrence of a first occurring heart sound is detected. Thereupon a predetermined heart sound enable window time is established, which for a first detection cycle is set to approximately the diastolic interval for the maximum heart rate to be detected. If a second heart sound occurs within this heart sound enable window time, this second heart sound is detected as a systole heart sound. The first heart sound may be detected as a diastole heart sound. If a second heart sound does not occur within the heart sound enable window time the procedure is repeated with increasing heart sound enable time as long as a second heart sound occurs within an increased heart sound enable window time. For diagnostics synchronization signals developed exclusively from the heart sound signals are used to validate data from diagnostic equipment such as a gamma camera.

  • Patent number: 4631565
Abstract: A power FET is preceded by an input amplifier consisting of a second FET of the same channel type and a third FET of an opposite channel type. The FETs of the pre-amplifier can be integrated into the chip of the power FET without additional production steps if the power FET and the second FET are designed as vertical FETs and the third FET as a lateral FET. Through this semiconductor device, the relatively high input capacitance of power MISFETs, which results in slow switching speeds when driven by standard ICs, is overcome.

  • Patent number: 4626886
Abstract: The invention relates to a power transistor with a semiconductor body. When shutting off a power transistor, local fusing of the semiconductor body may occur, if a characteristic power loss is exceeded for a certain period of time (second breakdown).
