Abstract: A rotary boring head for earth and rock formations with pivotal wings which may be swung radially outwardly and which are provided with inclined return rails. Upon upward movement of the rotary boring head the earth mass presses upon the inclined return rails, so that the pivotal wings are reliably swung inwards again and cannot impinge on the bore tube.
Abstract: A temperature measuring device for non-contacting temperature measurement includes a radiation pyrometer, located in a pressure-resistant housing. Power cables connect with said housing through pressure-resistant openings. The wall of the housing located optically in front of the radiation pyrometer is provided with a removable insert in which is formed a radiation inlet. A germanium disc is mounted as a window in said inlet.
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for measuring the roll gap in roll stands with automatic gap control. The apparatus comprises two relatively movable components which may interfit telescopically. The two components have respective measuring surfaces at one of which is located a pulsed ultrasonic signal transmitter. A sound receiver is located either on the same measuring surface or on the other measuring surface. Measuring means are provided for measuring the time taken for the sound pulses to travel between the measuring surfaces.

Abstract: Apparatus is provided for detecting leakages in hydraulic equipment. A pressure supply line of the equipment has alternate fluid flow paths controlled by respective, oppositely directed non-return or one-way valves which are pre-loaded as by springs. A restricted flow transducer is located in a bypass line which bypasses the alternate fluid flow paths for sensing pressure drops in the system.
Abstract: The top surface edges for a ski of plastic material with a foam material core are produced by first placing the structural parts of the ski in position in a mold and thereafter filling the hollow spaces in the closed mold with an expandable synthetic foam material to form the core and set the structural parts of the ski. An auxiliary strip supports the structural parts in the mold and has a flange which extends beyond the side surfaces of the mold. The flange of this auxiliary support strip is extended outwardly a greater distance from the mold side walls and has angled portions which are lodged in a groove in the top edge surface of the mold box to hold the support strip and structural parts of the ski firmly in their proper position during the foam expansion in the mold. The portions of the auxiliary support strip are severed after the ski has been molded.

Abstract: A separable catheter needle for inserting a flexible vessel catheter into a blood vessel is adapted to be separated after taking a blood sample and comprises a needle tube of metallic material with a gripping and catheter inserting portion consisting of several elements made preferably of thermoplastic material. The needle tube consists of two tube halves which are assembled and bonded together along their meeting edge. An elastic or plastic sealing element is introduced into the assembled needle tube so that it engages its inner wall to provide a sealing of the tube against air and liquid. The rearward end of the needle tube has integral wing members which are covered by a gripping plate device consisting of a grooved central portion and of two lateral plate elements which fit over the tube and its wing members. The lateral plate elements cooperate with the wing elements to provide a mutual interconnection.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a lightweight material comprising Portland cement, a colloid, an air entraining compound and lime. This material is manufactured by effecting a vigorous mixing during which high proportions of air are taken up in the mixture to obtain a controlled and predetermined density.
Abstract: A book support for maintaining a book in a suspended position comprises a book holder and a light source with a lamp shade. The book holder is supported by the lamp shade which depends from a suspension member, the lamp shade having three arms, two of said arms extending substantially in an orthogonal direction relative to the other two arms, the lamp shade being pivotable in a vertical plane so as to move the book holder on an axis which is parallel to the main axis.
Abstract: Apparatus for clamping an overhung rolling disc on a drive shaft by compressive stress between plane parallel surfaces, whereby a hydraulically expansible tie-rod is inserted in the hollow drive shaft for producing the compressive stress, the tightening nut of which tie-rod is located opposite the outer end face of the rolling disc for transmitting the compressive force, wherein the tightening nut is seated on a bayonet ring provided with an external screw-thread, the bayonet ring with the tightening nut is supported by a bayonet nut, which is in turn screwed on a threaded end of the tie-rod and a taper sleeve is inserted between the rolling disc and drive shaft, the free outer end face of which taper sleeve is located opposite an end face of the bayonet ring and is constructed for the attachment of extraction claws.
Abstract: A wasted spacer member for wall elements consists of cross-shaped and T-shaped members each composed of two elements whose face planes are parallel to each other, and the intersecting point of their arms lies on a common axis perpendicular to the face planes. The two elements of the spacer member are connected to each other by at least one web member of such a length that the distance between the two outer surfaces of the spacer member is less than the thickness of the wall elements and the width or thickness of the arms measured in the planes of the elements corresponds either to the joint width between the individual wall elements or to the joint width plus the sum of the groove depths of two adjacent wall elements.
Abstract: A shower bath tub has a bottom portion with a water outlet, and an upright portion on this bottom portion provided with a top which has a funnel shaped collecting bowl extending down into a space where it is connected to a discharge conduit. A toilet seat is disposed above the collecting bowl and the shower water flushes any feces from the toilet seat and the collecting bowl into the discharge conduit.
Abstract: A particle suction system wherein a machine tool is connected to a quick coupling device which comprises a pressurized air control valve for regulating the removal of dust particles from the work area. The pressurized air control valve is arranged to follow the quick coupling device when it is disconnected from the machine tool and interrupts the air flow.
Abstract: An excavator includes a vessel-like lower frame having a generally vertical side wall, and a bottom wall that forms a support plate. Wheel means are secured to the lower frame side wall, and an upper frame is mounted on the lower frame for rotation about a vertical axis. The upper frame carries a cabin, and a boom and bucket assembly. The engine and other heavy equipment components for operating the excavator are secured to the underside of the upper frame and rotate therewith, thereby giving the excavator a low center of gravity, and eliminating clutter around the operator's cabin.
Abstract: A striker cartridge for weapons using central firing cartridges especially for shotguns has a jacket in whose bottom a circular opening is provided in the impact area of the firing pin. An impact element is inserted into this opening from the inside of the jacket and is biased by a resilient spring oppositely to the impact direction of the firing pin. The opening for receiving the impact element is arranged excentrically to the jacket axis and the impact element is rotatably mounted in this opening so that after repeated striking of the firing pin against the impact element it is rotated to expose a new intact area to the firing pin.
Abstract: A hoisting apparatus for lifting an object, a pressure cylinder and piston unit whose piston is secured to a connecting device fixed to the object to be lifted by a coupling device provided with guide sleeves mounted for vertical sliding movement on upright support posts for the connecting device and disposed adjacent the cylinder and piston unit.
