  • Patent number: 6883467
Abstract: A hot water system for a narrowboat which system comprises an auxiliary heater used to heat a potable water tank and further is used to heat living areas of the narrowboat. The auxiliary heater and a temperature measuring device are operably connected to the water tank which terminates operation of the heater when the temperature reaches a predetermined and comfortable level selected by the user. Likewise, a room water circuit is operably attached to the auxiliary heater and is operated by a thermostatically controlled solenoid valve which terminates hot water flow through a radiator within the living areas when the temperature reaches a value selected by the user.

  • Patent number: 6828531
Abstract: Method and apparatus for melting a material and squeezing the melted material through casing perforations into a fault within the cement or formation of an oil or gas well. A heating tool carries solid material which is melted at depth within the well and adjacent to the casing perforations. • Patent number: 6797797
Abstract: A process for producing a low cross-linking-density gel capable of effectively inhibiting light scattering in joining the ends of optical fiber cores with each other. The process is characterized by involving the compounding step for adjusting a flexible silicone gal material to have a specified refractive index and the reaction step for cross-linking the flexible silicone gel material obtained in the above step in a binding region with a low cross-linking density, thus yielding a low cross-linking-density gel.

  • Patent number: 6767746
Abstract: Method and apparatus used to calculate the hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide loading of both rich and lean amine solutions used to remove acidic gas components from sour or production gases in order to produce a sweet or sales gas for transmission purposes. The amine solution is divided into three (3) liquid streams carrying different proportions of heat stable salts, hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide. Conductivity measurements are made on each of the streams and are converted to acid loading values for the amine. The acid loading values of the amine are used to obtain the hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide loading for the amine solution.

  • Patent number: 6761531
Abstract: A water pump for a spa or the like has a pump water inlet, a pump water outlet and an impeller driving water from said inlet to said outlet. The impeller provides the water axially introduced at the pump water inlet with a radial component which delivers the water to a large plenum chamber surrounding the impeller and which plenum chamber has an increasing cross sectional area as the water moves from the pump water inlet to a plenum chamber outlet thereby reducing backpressure in the water. The plenum chamber terminates with the plenum water outlet located closely to the impeller and a smooth transition area defines the area extending from the plenum chamber outlet to the pump water outlet. The water outlet preferably extends so that the water has a directional component which is generally parallel to the direction of the water entering the pump through the pump water inlet.

  • Patent number: 6725464
Abstract: A rotary joint used for armored diving suits which joint allows rotary motion and which seals the internal portions of the diving suit from the high pressure water in which the user is operating. The rotary joint allows axial movement during operation and reduces premature seal failure due to moments created about the axis of the joint which are prevented from reaching the seals allowing rotating movement. In the event of seal failure, a fail-safe sealing system comprising back up seals not used during normal suit operation is used to isolate the internal portions of the diving suit from water ingress.

  • Patent number: 6719121
Abstract: A coin collecting cart for collecting coins from parking meters. A plurality of bins are used, each bin being limited to a certain quantity of coins which quantity of coins is electronically sensed. When the first of the bins is full of coins, the coins pass to the second of the bins and so on. When the bins are full, they are individually removable from the cart and mountable within a frame located remotely from the cart. The bins are unloaded by manually rotating the frame together with the bin about an axis.

  • Patent number: 6685975
Abstract: A processing method used for separating bone and oil from marine byproducts in the preparation of an endproduct. The byproducts are ground and then warmed to a relatively low temperature of approximately 70 deg.C. or less. The warmed material is passed to a refiner to separate the bone from the meat portions. The meat portion is transferred to a digestion tank where the endogenous enzymes perform a first stage digestion. Exogenous enzymes may be added and further digestion may take place for increased liquefaction of the meat portion. The exogenous enzymes can survive temperatures higher than the 60-65 deg.C. range so the liquified material can be heated during the further digestion to increase hydrolysis and pasteurize the product. Oil may be removed from the product by centrifuge following completion of either digesting step. Evaporation of the product may be used to increase the percentage of solid material. Alternatively, the oil may be removed after digestion without mechanically deboning the byproducts.

  • Patent number: 6669970
Abstract: An enhanced fish feed and a method of feeding fish with the enhanced feed are described for particular use in fish farms. The fish feed comprises pellets which are coated with a material intended to contrast highly with conditions within cages of the fish farm and thereby become visible to fish below the surface and humans near the surface. A coating of white material, preferably a mica/titanium dioxide compound, is appropriate. The enhanced visibility of the feed increases the water feeding volume within the enclosure. This reduces fish congestion and stress upon the fish during the feeding period and increases feeding rate.

  • Patent number: 6652266
Abstract: A flame sensor for sensing the presence of a flame in a burner. The signal from the sensor is passed to an amplifier located adjacent to the sensor and amplified without having a sensor signal contaminated with common mode radiation. The selectively amplified signal between 15 and 80 Hz is processed by a microcontroller located remotely from the sensor and amplifier which microcontroller may terminate or continue burner operation. The integrity of the connection circuitry between the amplifier and the microcontroller is also monitored and burner shutdown occurs if there is a fault in such circuitry.

  • Patent number: 6553693
Abstract: A snowblower apparatus and a method of using the snowblower. The snowblower apparatus is self contained and portable and may be mounted on a prime mover. A turbine engine is located within a housing and discharges its exhaust to the desired area of snow or ice removal. The housing is rotatable and tiltable about orthogonal axes so as to allow the operator to direct the discharge nozzle to a desired location. A fuel tank may be mounted separately from the housing and turbine engine. An afterburner may be used to increase the exhaust temperature thereby to remove ice and otherwise dry the desired location.

  • Patent number: 6555155
Abstract: Method and apparatus used in producing a feed product or premix and the products made by the method. A predetermined quantity of krill hydrolysate is added to a predetermined quantity of dry carrier with or without a predetermined quantity of liquid marine protein. The mixture is subject to evaporation and drying steps in which relatively heavier particles are separated from relatively lighter particles. The mixture may be blended, ground and subject to chemical reaction in a balance tank prior to entering a dryer. The dryer utilizes a warm air source, a tower and a cyclone to dry the mixture following its entry into the dryer. Temperature sensitive enzymes or other bioactive products may be added to the product produced from the dryer. A method for obtaining enzymes from a fresh krill extract or an autolyzed krill preparation and the product are also disclosed.
