  • Patent number: 5813963
Abstract: A container assembly apparatus and method for assembling a roe shipping container. The lid of the container is manually positioned in contact with one edge of the container. A first button is pressed which allows swing arm to open and allow access by the container and lid to the assembly apparatus. As the container and lid move into the assembly apparatus, rails move the lid downwardly and into a closer relationship with the top edges of the container. A second swing arm terminates movement of the container and lid and maintains them in the assembly location under the apparatus. A second button is pressed and a platen moves downwardly to install the lid on the body of the container while simultaneously inserting a plug into an opening in the bottom of the container. The second button is released which allows the second swing arm to open the container to be moved from its assembly location.

  • Patent number: 5778616
Abstract: An apparatus for mounting a scrubber pressure vessel to a base. The scrubber has a skirt which is mounted directly onto the base. The base has two orthogonal longitudinal beams. The beams are oriented with respect to the pressure vessel such that the forces directed to the scrubber by its attached piping are parallel to one of the beams. The skirt is attached to the base on the longitudinal axes and the connections may vary in stiffness such that the natural frequencies of the system along both axes can be adjusted to avoid the operating frequency which would otherwise result in resonance.

  • Patent number: 5742053
Abstract: Method and apparatus for determining the presence and identity of predetermined gases in the atmosphere such as would be found on a natural gas, natural gas liquid or oil pipeline if such pipeline was subject to leakage. An infrared transmitter and an infrared receiver are each mounted on a movable platform such as a fixed or rotary wing aircraft or on a vehicle. As the moving platform follows its predetermined assigned route, the presence of gases is determined by the infrared transmitter and receiver and at least one data acquisition module. The geographic position of the movable platform is determined so that the geographic location of the predetermined gases in the atmosphere is known.

  • Patent number: 5730830
Abstract: Apparatus and method for forming structural panel members from fiber crop material such as rice, straw and the like. The fiber crop material is bailed into circular or rectangular bails which bails are placed in a debailer/shredder. The fiber material is cut to a predetermined length and conveyed pneumatically to a compression chamber. A ram compresses the fiber into a rectangular slot between upper and lower platen members. Paper is applied with glue to the upper and lower surfaces of the fiber and is folded up to cover the sides of the fiber. The glue is cured on a curing table and the fiber is severed in a cutting section into desired lengths.

  • Patent number: 5681071
Abstract: A choker hook has a main body and a latch member rotatable relative to the main body. The latch member is biased by a spring thereby to form a pocket to hold the ferrule of a choker cable used in logging operations. The latch member has a toe piece which contacts the surface of a log when the choker hook is rotated by the choker cable relative to the log. The force between the toe piece and its attached latch member will tend to rotate the latch member relative to the main body when the effect of the force on the choker hook is such that the toe piece is brought into contact with the outside of the log. The ferrule pocket will open and the ferrule and attached cable will be released thereby releasing the log being transported without manual intervention at the point of log release.

  • Patent number: 5628655
Abstract: A removable connector operable to be inserted between a main cable carrying seismic information and a box connector of a remote acquisition module. The removable connector is adapted to isolate any forces arising in the main cable from the box connector of the module. The removable connector is removably secured to the remote acquisition module by a pin which extends through the housing of the removable connector and a bracket mounted to the module. The pin transfers the cable forces to the remote acquisition module and substantially isolates the box connector from such forces thereby extending the life of the box connector.

  • Patent number: 5597191
Abstract: A choker hook is connected to a choker cable and is used for pulling a log from its felled position to a desired location. The choker hook is remotely released from the log without manual intervention at the desired end position. The choker hook has a configuration where a ferrule on the end of the choker cable tends to nest within the choker hook and assume a locking position when the log is being transported. When the direction of pull in the cable is reversed, the forces will tend to remove the ferrule from its locking position and release it from the choker hook thereby releasing the log. During the force reversal, the choker hook rotates about a predetermined angle and about predetermined axes of rotation depending on its specific configuration.
