Abstract: Process for the production of benzothiazoles from N-arylsubstituted thioureas by oxidative ring closure characterized by the use of chlorine as oxidizing agent and by the presence of catalytic amounts of bromine. Yield and quality of the benzothiazoles obtained are very good.

Abstract: Butynediol is prepared by reacting acetylene and formaldehyde in contact with a heavy metal acetylide as catalyst, in the liquid phase by the Reppe method. Acetylene is fed upwardly through a suspension of the catalyst in formaldehyde at such a rate that it is virtually completely consumed and a liquid zone containing no catalyst is formed above the suspension.

Abstract: Glass-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic molding compositions showing improved flowability and toughness and containing from 0.1 to 2% by weight, based on the total mixture, of a low molecular weight polyolefin wax to which from 2 to 50% by weight of polar side chains have been grafted.

Abstract: The production of aminonitrodihydroxyanthraquinones of the formula: ##STR1## in which one X is OH and the other X is NO.sub.2 by partial reduction of the corresponding dinitrodihydroxyanthraquinone or mixtures thereof by heating at 80.degree.-250.degree. C in the presence of 1/2 to 5 times the weight thereof of an unsubstituted or substituted phenol. The reduction is accelerated by being carried out in the presence of a small amount such as 0.5-20 mol percent of an alkaline-reacting agent. Pure aminonitrohydroxyanthraquinones are obtained which are free from diaminodihydroxyanthraquinones.

Abstract: A suspension system for connecting an axle support for a wheel of a vehicle to the chassis of the vehicle is provided which comprises a hollow cross frame containing a bar maintained in said frame by four compressively distorted rubber blocks within the hollow cross frame, a support for an axle to carry a wheel, said support being fixed to said hollow cross frame, at least one connecting arm connecting said hollow cross frame to the chassis of the vehicle through an elastic block, at least one connecting arm connecting said bar to the chassis of the vehicle via a tubular bar which is pivotally mounted on said frame, said hollow cross frame being disposed at an intermediate height between the height of the elastic bar and the height of said tubular bar, thereby to form, in projection on a vertical plane, a deformable trangulated suspension system.

Abstract: The production of N-(1-alkenyl)-carbamyl chlorides by reaction of a Schiff base with phosgene, and the new N-(1-alkenyl)-carbamyl chlorides themselves. The new compounds which can be prepared by the process of the invention are valuable starting materials for the production of coating intermediates, plastics, paints and plant protection agents.One preferred group of compounds available from said process are the N-vinyl compounds of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 is cyclohexyl, cyclooctyl, norbornyl, tetrahydrodicyclopentadienyl, n-hexyl, n-octyl, 2-ethylhexyl or phenyl. Another preferred group of compounds are the N-vinyl-N-t-alkylcarbamyl chlorides of 4 to 6 carbon atoms in the tertiary alkyl group, especially N-vinyl-N-t-butylcarbamyl chloride.

Abstract: In the oxidation of propylene to acrylic acid in the gas phase in two spatially separate oxidation stages, a part of the off-gas, which has been freed from condensable products, is fed to the oxidation stages in addition to freshly charged propylene and air, under the following conditions:A. The recycled off-gas and air are in part fed to the first oxidation stage and in part to the second oxidation stage,B. The molar ratio of propylene : oxygen : residual gases fed to the first stage is 1 : 1.5-2.3 : 11-19,C. The molar ratio of the total propylene fed in, to the total oxygen fed in, in the form of air or off-gas, before and after the first stage, and to the total residual gases fed in is 1 : 1.9-2.5 : 13-25, with the proviso thatD. The air and the recycled off-gas are divided between the two feed points in such a way that from 10 to 50% by volume of the total quantity of air and off-gas fed in are added after the first stage andE.

Abstract: Shaped articles are produced by heating and compressing particles of foamed olefin polymer containing crosslinked portions in molds, the pressure being reduced during compression in the mold.

Abstract: Impact-resistant thermoplastic molding materials prepared from a rigid component and a soft component. The rigid component consists of polystyrene, the soft component consists of a mixture of a polyolefin with a copolymer of a vinylaromatic and a diene hydrocarbon which has been prepared by anionic solution polymerization and which may have been hydrogenated. The molding materials may be used for the production of molded parts for use in domestic appliances, automobiles and refrigerators.

Abstract: An improved process for the manufacture of cyclohexanone oxime by reacting cyclohexanone with an aqueous hydroxylammonium-ammonium sulfate solution at temperatures above the melting point of cyclohexanone oxime by the countercurrent process, the improvement consisting in that the reaction is carried out in the absence of solvents and neutralizing and/or buffer salts at pHs of up to 0.5 until equilibrium is reached, the oximes resulting during the reaction being separated from the aqueous phase and the aqueous phase being extracted with cyclohexanone and then subjected to steam distillation.

Abstract: A device for the production of a food article, in which food material is extruded through a generally arcuate die opening so that a differential in the frictional forces between the center portion and the end portions of the arcuate opening causes the material to curl about an axis transverse to the die axis and thus assume the general shape of a shell. The device lends itself to the fabrication, in an automatic, consistent and simple way, of a food product of a unique structure which has a filling of meat within a covering of dough.

Abstract: A process for the production of polyurethane solutions by reaction of a diisocyanate with a mixture of a glycol and a polymer bearing terminal hydroxy groups in a solvent medium under certain prescribed conditions. The resulting polyurethane solutions are especially valuable as impregnants or coating agents for textile substrates, for example in the preparation of a microporous synthetic leather.

Abstract: A system for automatically loading and tensioning a supply reel of magnetic recording which is contained in a tape cassette. The system is designed to be utilized with a tape transport mechanism of the type wherein the supply reel is driven by surface engagement of the outermost layer of tape on the reel with a capstan. A motor driven leadscrew mechanically engages the tape transport apparatus and functions as a means for sequencing its operation in a manner so that upon loading, the normally-closed cassette is opened and the tape pack is advanced by the transport apparatus into an operative position in which it is in contact with the capstan. Following the threading of the tape about the take-up reel, the leadscrew causes the transport apparatus to withdraw the supply tape pack from close contact with the capstan in order to allow slack to be removed therefrom through the action of a brake upon the supply reel.

Abstract: An automatic spool changing system for textile machines with an array of high-speed winding heads, for example of the type having a spool revolver and a lossless thread transfer device. The system has a conveyor serving for the transportation both of full spools and empty spools and traversable along the machine front; and it has a spool changing carriage also traversable along the machine front, independently of the conveyor, and mounting a gripper movable between the conveyor and a spool holder in a spool changing position. The path of movement of the spool changing carriage as well as that of the conveyor lie vertically underneath each other and in generally the same vertical plane with the spool holder. The gripper has two angularly displaced heads and is arranged for axial translation and also for rotation in a vertical plane extending forwardly of the machine front. The gripper can thus execute a spool doffing and spool donning operation simultaneously.

Abstract: A process for the manufacture of .beta.-bromoalkylsulfones and .beta.-bromoalkenylsulfones by addition reaction of sulfonic acid bromides with olefins or acetylenes in the presence of hydroperoxide and, optionally, of metal salts. Starting materials for further syntheses and for biologically active compounds may be obtained by subsequent dehydrobromination of the addition products.

Abstract: N-Alkylglycinonitriles are manufactured by reaction of N-alkylamines with formaldehyde and hydrocyanic acid under specific conditions of temperature, reaction time and hydrocyanic acid concentration.

Abstract: An apparatus for automatically threading a supply reel of magnetic recording tape equipped with a self starting leader into a tape transport mechanism of the type in which take-up and supply reels are simultaneously driven by surface engagement of a capstan with the outermost tape layer on each reel.

Abstract: An improved process for the production of 2-ethylhexanol-(1) which comprises contacting 2-ethylhexen-(2)-al-(1) in an inert solvent with hydrogen at pressures of 1 to 500 atmospheres gauge and at temperatures of 80.degree. to 200.degree. C in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst consisting essentially of cobalt and/or nickel and of copper and manganese and 0.5 to 15% by weight calculated as phosphorus pentoxide and based on the metal content of said catalyst exclusive of support of pyrophosphoric acid or polyphosphoric acid in free form and/or in the form of at least one salt of said metals. The alcohol produced is used as a solvent or for the production of plasticizers for polyvinyl chloride.

Abstract: 1-Alkyl-5-nitroimidazoles are prepared by reacting a 5-nitroimidazole with an alkylating agent in the presence of an aliphatic carboxylic acid. The products are intermediates for the production of dyes, textiles auxiliaries and insecticides.

Abstract: New bis-[4-(m,m'-di-tert.-butyl-p-hydroxyphenyl)-butyl-(2)] dicarboxylic acid esters which are starting materials for the manufacture of dyes, pesticides and additives for plastics, especially stabilizers for polyolefins and polyamides, and are themselves stabilizers, aging retardants or antioxidants for organic products.
