  • Patent number: 6071131
Abstract: The standoff for mounting a circuit board to a chassis includes two parts. The first part is a grounding clip which includes two legs for engaging a chassis and supporting an apertured platform. The second part is a spring arm detent attachment with two elastically opposed spring arms with enlarged detent elements at distal ends thereof. Flanges are provided laterally adjacent to the spring arms. The flanges are spaced from the spring arms by a distance substantially equal to the sum of the thickness of the apertured platform and the circuit board. The spring arms, when manually urged toward each other, pass through the aperture of the circuit board and the aperture of the apertured platform and subsequently extend away from each other to form a detent engagement.

Abstract: A zipper strip for a reclosable bag or package includes a male interlocking profile and a female interlocking profile. The male interlocking profile includes a male interlocking member and a male web coextruded therewith. In like manner, the female interlocking profile includes a female interlocking member and a female web. The male interlocking member snappingly engages into the female interlocking member to join the profiles to one another. One of the male and female webs is wider than the other in at least one of two directions from the male and female interlocking members, the greater width being represented by at least one flange extending widthwise beyond the other web. The zipper strip is designed to be attached to thermoplastic sheet material by sealing the at least one flange thereto without sealing the male and female webs to each other. Methods for securing the zipper strip to thermoplastic sheet material, and for making packages on a horizontal form-fill-and-seal machine, are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6036819
Abstract: A polymeric-resin-coated papermaking-processing belt, which may be used as a sheet-transfer, long nip press (LNP) or calender belt, includes a reinforcing base having the form of an endless loop with a face side and a back side, these being the outside and inside of the endless loop, respectively. The face side of the reinforcing base is coated with a polymeric resin material, while the back side has a staple fiber batt attached thereto. The staple fiber batt has a smooth, fused surface free of protruding fiber ends. This surface is kept clean more easily than that of a typical staple fiber batt. Methods for manufacturing the polymeric-resin-coated papermaking-processing belt, including several ways for providing the staple fiber batt with the smooth, fused surface, are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6029969
Abstract: Documents to be imaged which lie one upon another in a prescribed order of page on an automatic document feeding device are automatically fed one by one to a scanning reference position defined in an image scanning position of an image processing device and discharged, after being imaged, to a discharge tray in the same order of page as those initially stacked. The document sent out from the image scanning position to a delivery passage after being imaged is sent back to the document scanning position through a return passage to be turned over. When the document being sent back is introduced into the image scanning position by the longitudinal size of the document, document transporting means is reversed to discharge the document, thereby to shorten the time required to discharge the document from the image scanning position to the discharge tray through a document discharge passage.

  • Patent number: 6030474
Abstract: In a method for coating the recording surface of an information card by selectively using one of protective films of various types, the selected protective film loaded in a coating device is thermally transferred to the card at the optimal thermal-transfer temperature and optimal feeding speed determined according to the film type of the loaded protective film which is automatically identified. The film type of the protective film is recognized by detecting at least one discrimination mark on a film ribbon for the protective film by use of one or more mark sensors. The discrimination mark also serves as positioning means for the protective film in coating. By thermally transferring the protective film to the card at the optimal thermal-transfer temperature and optimal feeding speed, a high-quality information card coated with flat layers including printing ink layers and protective films and having excellent peel strength can be produced.

  • Patent number: 6027615
Abstract: A calender belt for the compliant calendering of a paper web includes an endless base substrate, a staple fiber batt attached to at least the outside of the endless base substrate, and a polymeric resin material totally impregnating the fiber/base composite structure comprising the endless base substrate and the staple fiber batt to a substantially uniform depth. That depth may be such that the polymeric resin material does not reach the base substrate, or partly or completely impregnates the base substrate. A layer of polymeric resin material is built up upon the staple fiber material to a predetermined thickness. Once the polymeric resin material is cured, it is ground to a desired smoothness without exposing any fiber on the ground surface.

  • Patent number: 6027261
Abstract: A high-performance exposure adjusting device for a camera has a magnet rotor united with an aperture member capable of steadily assuming three exposing positions according to the polarity of a direct current applied to a coil surrounding the rotor. When applying no current to the coil, the aperture member takes its magnetically neutral position to form a full aperture and is magnetically stabilized by a yoke surrounding the rotor. When the direct current of one polarity is applied to the coil, the aperture member rotates in one direction to form a first reduced aperture, and when the polarity of the current applied is reversed, a second reduced aperture is formed.
