  • Patent number: 6021848
Abstract: A method of loading and treatment of a gaseous or liquid hydrocarbon mixture produced on an offshore production platform, a production vessel or a well installation when producing oil and gas from a reservoir, wherein the mixture is supplied to a gas treatment vessel (12) via a buoy loading system comprising a buoy (14) of the STL/STP type, and is treated on board the vessel (12) for producing liquefied natural gas (LNG) or an LPG mixture stored in tanks on the vessel. Simultaneously with the supply of the hydrocarbon mixture, oil is also supplied to the vessel (12) via the same buoy (14), the buoy including a multi-course STP connector, the oil being transferred directly from the STP connector via a pipeline (23) and an unloading means (25) on the vessel (12) to a tanker (13) for storage and transport of the supplied oil.

  • Patent number: 6019478
Abstract: The control knob engages, on its interior, a translucent polycarbonate jewel body collar assembly of a first color, such as white, which, in turn, provides a housing for a translucent polycarbonate jewel light pipe assembly of a second color, such as blue or blue-green. The jewel body collar assembly includes a collar to engage the interior cylindrical support section of the control knob and a light pipe housing assembly to engage the jewel light pipe assembly. The jewel body collar assembly further includes a ridge which protrudes through a slot in the sidewall and front face of the control knob thereby forming an indicator for the control knob. In ambient illumination, such as during the day, the indicator appears to be the color of the jewel body collar assembly, such as white.

  • Patent number: 6020053
Abstract: A printing sheet is made from a porous resin sheet containing a predetermined amount of carbon grains. In order to manufacture the printing sheet, a mask (which partially shields the infrared rays according to a predetermined pattern) is placed on a transparent plate and the printing sheet is placed on the mask sheet. Flash bulbs irradiate the infrared rays onto the mask sheet. Infrared rays irradiated onto the transparent portion of the mask sheet pass through the mask sheet and reach the printing sheet, causing the carbon grains to heat the resin sheet such that pores in said resin sheet are sealed to form a non-print portion on said porous resin sheet corresponding to said transparent portion.

  • Patent number: 6017040
Abstract: A self-levelling platform arrangement comprises a platform which may form the base of a trolley container, supported on a biasing mechanism that comprises a scissors jack arrangement incorporating a tension spring to provide the biasing force whereby the platform descends as items are loaded onto the platform and rises as items are unloaded. The load/tension ratio of the spring is adjustable. To achieve tensioning of the spring, one end of the spring is attached to one of the opposite arms of the scissors arrangement through a flange plate while the outer end is attached to one end of a balance beam member supported for rotation about a fulcrum, the position of the fulcrum being variable along the length of the beam. The other end of the beam member connects, via a further flange plate, to the other of opposite arms by a connecting rod.

  • Patent number: 6017412
Abstract: A method for attaching reclosable zipper strips transversely to thermoplastic film material which may be used to make reclosable bags or packages in a form-fill-seal machine is claimed. The zipper strip includes a male profile and a female profile. The male profile includes a male interlocking member and an integral web comprising a trailing flange and, optionally, a leading flange. Likewise, the female profile includes a female interlocking member and an integral web comprising a trailing flange and, optionally, a leading flange. As the film material is advanced into the form-fill-seal machine in bag length increments, the interlocked zipper strip is disposed on the film material transversely thereto with the trailing flange oriented in a direction opposite to the motion of the film material. The zipper strip is then sealed to the film material at its extremities. In this manner the male and female profiles are sealed to each other and to the film material.

  • Patent number: 6014795
Abstract: A slide zipper assembly comprising an interlocked zipper and a slider is provided. The zipper has a first profile and a second profile. The profiles have arms ending in hooks that are engaged when the zipper is in a closed position. The slider is disposed for movement along the zipper. The slider has an opening end and a closing end. At the opening end the slider has a separator that extends downwardly to engage a profile arm to bend the same so that its hook disengages from the hook of the opposite profile.

  • Patent number: 6011880
Abstract: An encoded symbol reading device capable of reading and decoding a tessellated symbol. A detector detects an optical image formed by the encoded symbol and outputs a signal corresponding to the optical image. The signal is compared with threshold values and a 1-bit data value is output. The 1-bit data values are converted into an n-bit data value which is stored in a memory. The threshold values are also stored in memory and are obtained by detecting an optical image formed by a surface having a predetermined color.

  • Patent number: 6003206
Abstract: The control knob engages, on its interior, a translucent polycarbonate jewel body collar assembly of a first color, such as white, which, in turn, provides a housing for a translucent polycarbonate jewel LED holder assembly. The LED emits light, possibly modified by the jewel LED holder assembly, of a second color, such as blue or blue-green. This second color can be varied in intensity and hue by varying the polarity and resistance of the LED. The jewel body collar assembly includes a collar to engage the interior cylindrical support section of the control knob and a housing assembly to engage the jewel LED holder assembly. The jewel body collar assembly further includes a ridge which protrudes through a slot in the sidewall and front face of the control knob thereby forming an indicator for the control knob. In ambient illumination, such as during the day, the indicator appears to be the color of the jewel body collar assembly, such as white.

  • Patent number: 6000390
Abstract: The gas safety valve includes a valve that is solenoid actuated in a fashion to interrupt the flow of gas from the gas line to the stove. A remotely located switch including a key locking mechanism can be mounted at any convenient but safe location. A key activates the switch which in turn energizes the solenoid to permit gas flow to the stove. Mounting of the key locking mechanism remote from the stove is added security. An indicator light reveals whether the gas valve is open, closed or perhaps not connected to a source of electricity.
