Abstract: The disclosure is directed to an analog-digital converter which includes a source having an output of fixed frequency time-spaced pulses. An oscillator having an output of time-spaced pulses, harmonically related to pulses from the source, is comprised of a plurality of digital gates connected serially in a loop. At least one of the digital gates includes impedance means such as a resister or capacitor, responsive to an analog condition to form a modulator. Change in the value of the impedance changes the time constant of the modulator to effect a change in the time-spaced pulses related to the instantaneous amplitude of the analog condition. The outputs of the source and the oscillator are applied to a comparator. Means responsive to the comparator is employed to correct the oscillator time-spaced pulses toward an in phase state relative to the time-spaced pulses from the source.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are described for generating a digital representation of an analog condition. In one method high-frequency digital signals are generated with the frequency of each signal being constant and the frequencies bearing a harmonic relationship one to the other. A representation of the analog condition is applied to cause a shift in phase in at least one of the digital signals. The digital signals are then compared to obtain a measure of the phase shift which is utilized to adjust the phase of the phase shifted signal toward its original phase condition. As a result of the measure of phase shift, there is generated a single weighed digital function which is representative of the amplitude of the adjustment utilized to return the phase shifted signal toward its original phase shifted condition. The single weighed digital function is applied to a low-pass digital filter to produce a multi-bit digital word representative of the instantaneous value of the analog condition.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for measuring the density of a liquid, such as a drilling mud, by continuously flowing a sample of the liquid through a container having a fixed predetermined volume. The container is supported by at least one bed of pressurized fluid. The pressure of the fluid is varied in response to fluctuations in the weight of the liquid sample in the container. A pressure transmitter monitors the pressure level in the bed and produces a signal indicative of the density of the liquid sample.
Abstract: A fishing net having a handle supporting a frame defining an opening and a net mounted to the perimeter of the frame. A guide member is pivotally mounted in a gap in the frame and connected to the net. The guide member is adapted to receive a fishing line on which a fish is caught. The fishing line is pulled upwards through the guide member and pulls the fish into engagement with the net. The fishing net is then inverted with the fish captured in the net. Preferably, the guide member includes a latch member for securing the fishing line within the guide member.
Abstract: A fishing lure for attachment to a fishing line without tying a knot in the fishing line. The fishing line includes an elongate body and one or more hooks attached to the lure body. A plurality of pairs of spaced outwardly facing gripping members are transversely mounted in aligned pairs on the body. The fishing line is secured to the lure by engaging alternating gripping members on alternate sides of sequential pairs of gripping members.
Abstract: A collapsible plunger (10) for use in a pump is disclosed having a load carrying cylinder (12) forming in inwardly facing tapered end (14), a plug (16) forming an outwardly facing taper (18) mating the inwardly facing tapered end of the cylinder, a stud bolt (20) engaging plug 16 on one end, a plunger clamp end (22) abutting the cylinder on the opposite end and a nut (24) engaging the other end of the stud bolt. The nut is free to move away from the plunger clamp end so that the stud bolt is never in compression. The tapered end of the cylinder will yield to the plug at a predetermined force. The abutment surfaces (30 and 32) of the cylinder and plunger clamp end permit some relative movement between the two.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus for rapidly and automatically unloading electronic circuit packages from zero insertion force sockets on a burn-in board or the like by inverting the burn-in board and placing sequential rows of the sockets in compressive rolling contact with a roller supported beneath the burn-in board. Means are provided to capture the electronic circuit packages as they fall from the sockets and to store the packages in carrier tubes.
Abstract: An apparatus for releaseably securing a fishing lure to a fishing line. The apparatus includes an elongate body having spaced pairs of aligned transverse gripping members. The apparatus is secured by the fishing line to the fishing lure or alternatively forms an integral part of the lure. A fishing line is inserted through passageways in opposite ends of the body of the apparatus and forms a loop that engages the "eye" of the fishing lure, secured by engaging gripping members on alternate sides of sequential pairs on the apparatus.
Abstract: The invention relates to a remote control device of a gear-box for motor vehicles with incorporated compressed-air system. A gear-shifting gate with servo-pneumatic control provided at the gear-box for setting the gears comprises substantially two working cylinders controlled by servo-valves whose travels are signalled via position indicator switches. A gearshift lever console in the driver's cabin transmits the shifting commands via position indicator switches to electronic control means which in turn control the gear-shifting gate at the gear-box. For feeding back to the gearshift lever the shifting states prevailing at the gear-box, a working cylinder is provided in the gearshift lever console which acts directly on the gearshift lever via a mechanical link.
Abstract: Disclosed is a mat for temporary use on a surface subject to exposure to a highly aqueous environment. The mat includes a water repellent mat member having a surface adapted for frictional engagement with a human body part. A non-hygroscopic, fully releaseable, pressure sensitive adhesive film is applied to at least a part of the underside of the mat member. The adhesive film secures the mat to a surface in the water-filled environment and is readily removeable therefrom without leaving a residue of the adhesive film on the surface. A removeable liner covers the adhesive film prior to application of the mat member to the surface.

Abstract: A method of making a tendon suitable for use in the post-tensioning of concrete as well as for other applications is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of coating a wire or a multiple-wire strand with a thin coat of a corrosion inhibitor. In the preferred embodiment, the thin coat may be more easily applied by coating the wire or multiple-wire strand with a thick coating of corrosion inhibitor and then removing the surplus amount of the corrosion inhibitor from the outer periphery of the strand, including the interstices, to leave the desired thin coat. A seamless plastic jacket is then formed around the wire or the multiple-wire strand while simultaneously creating a differential pressure across the wall of the seamless plastic jacket to provide a loosely fitting seamless plastic jacket.
